  • Late afternoon on Baker Lake, just as the cold reverse thermals came crashing across the upper end at the foot of Mt. Baker. The galciers on the mountain creat summer winds up to 30mph quite often. I quit filming after this and dropped the sail to keep the mast from stressing to far, as it is un-stayed. Waves soon built up to 2-3ft breaking caps all the way back under power until I got the three miles to the lee shore, where I could bail out the water, which was up to my ankles. At about 1:35 the wind suddenly picks up and the boat takes off, achieving max hull speed of 7mph before I stopped and took down the rig.
