Great setup. I would make that floor hardwood and use one rug. I had the same kind of floor earlier (built in carpet and a rug on top) which muffled the sound a lot.
I am listening to this via a laptop loudspeaker on TH-cam so have no idea what this actually sounds like... I hear a warm musical sound coming out, just wondering if it's also detailed as it's really hard to tell from the video? Apologies if it's a stupid question, but just curious what the listening experience is. It looks like something out of a 60s sci-fi movie so kudos for that, but crazy looks aside, what's the sound like?
Primaluna beats it by a long shot..If you want glorious tube sound with authority Primaluna is the way to go,and built to very high standards!The McIntosh is a hybrid!you will not get that real tube sound,and it's built is not to the standards of the Primaluna.Watch Upscaleaudio video of the ma252..It made me pull the trigger on a Primaluna,best decision I made..!
Sorry but the PrimaLuna is not all that great for its price. It’s a nice amp but not worth glorifying. I Tested the Dialogue HP integrated. Was not impressed at all. What’s so tubey or great about the PL sound? Does not mean if the amp has point to point wiring that means it’s great quality. Remember, in China, labour is cheap. Hence, PL is able to use that as a mere marketing tool. The proof is in the listening. It’s can’t even compare with say the Cary Audio SLI-80. The MA252 sounds good but it’s not awesome. The highs are sweet and not etched. Mids are clear and will suit most taste. Bass is good too. Well defined bass, not boomy. It’s a pretty clear amp. Not bright but clear. It was on my list but I went with the Cary Audio SLP-05.
I am a big mcIntosh , however they should have stayed away from this design. This is just like one of those chinese hybrid amps that sell for two-hundred bucks just put it in larger frame and put the name on it.
Phenomenal sound. Got MC275, MC207, MC1.2Kw, but this is offering next level value forMc fans. Design is growing on me also.

Not certain, but I seem to be hearing lots of noise (hiss) right when the play button is pressed.
It’s a snare drum technique and part of the recording. Throwing out uninformed opinions is not cool.
Does anyone have thoughts of the sound compared to a PrimaLuna Dialogue integrated? The MA 252 and the Dialogue are both priced at 3500.

MrChefg1 Judging by the high price tag and the immense number of units sold... that’s exactly what audiophile world was expecting from McIntosh ;-)
It looks like one of their vintage tube amps with one of their DC solid state amps slapped on. I think it looks great, and in a compact package.
