@@didierjacob250 Ce sont les mobiles les vrais dictateurs, les gens ne savent plus rien faire sans, profiter de l'instant présent sans se sentir "obligés" de filmer, quand c'est un évènement rare et peu suivi, pourquoi pas, mais là, des centaines de pros de l'image saisissent le déroulement du truc, alors ils pourront trouver ces images un peu partout et de meilleure qualité. Je suis persuadé que plus de la moitié de ces gens qui filment avec leur téléphone ne regarderont pas plus d'une fois le résultat. C'est juste dommage, pour moi ils gâchent quelque chose.

Aside from the Olympic-level of offense taken over the dinner tableau, the music at the lighting of the Cauldron/Balloon is religious ~ something like "If we could do as Jesus" (!).
Where did you see a blue guy with grappes everywhere on the Last Supper ? Bacchus/Dionysus was in the middle of the scene (the Olympus god you know ? Olympics game ? ring a bell ?) how could you miss it ? It wasn't the Last Supper but The Feast of the Gods by Jan van Bijlert and all this religious controversy is plain stupid.

J’avoue avoir été le premier à être bluffé, mais également le premier déçu en apprenant que cette flamme n’est pas une vraie flamme issue de celle qui brille à Olympie puisqu’il n’y a pas de continuité, même si on me rétorque que c’est de l’ordre du symbole. Pour moi, c’est tricher, ça me fait la même sensation que si on me disait que les médailles sont en plastique teinté d’or, d’argent et de bronze, et que Céline Dion a chanté “L’hymne à l’amour” en playback.
Hé bien oui de temps en temps il faut contourner, mais la vraie flamme elle est à Paris conservée jusqu’à la fin de ces jeux, et ce sera la vraie flamme qui sera remise symboliquement à LA. Maintenant vous savez que C Dion ai chanté en play back pas grave car compte tenu des prouesses technologiques et des aléas de la technique ce fut une excellente option. Vous faites partie sûrement de ces gens qui ne se remettent pas d’une telle réussite à la française et bien moi je vous conseille de changer de patelin si celui ci est en dessous de vos espérances. De toutes façon 85% de vos concitoyens ont adoré. What else.

It’s nice but it’s doesn’t scream Olympics to me. It’s not even a real cauldron. It’s just a very elaborate landscaping feature, like something from the Worlds Fair. The image of the Olympics is the flames flickering in the cauldron that can be seen across a city. Hopefully they will return to a traditional one in LA like last time. This is one of the things I missed about the opening ceremony.
So you want the Olympics to just be the same old routine over and over. Boring. Paris 2024 thought outside of the box and it is spectacular.
Sorry but not sorry. France likes to surprise and be innovative. If we were not like that, France would not be France. We just don’t like to do like anybody else. It’s in our blood to always take a step further when it comes to creativity, arts, and technical prowess. We were the one to create the new Olympic Games, so we had to do something new this time. But don’t worry, you’ll have a traditional one on the next game, cause being so creative it’s what foreigners call : the French touch. We are arrogant like that because we can be in terms of « savoir faire ». We just want to make people dream, that’s what it is to be French, doing the impossible to make people dream. It comes from a good place, but I understand that some people can’t be on the same page and can disagree. When it comes to art, it’s bound to happen that some people will not like it. The most important part as a French people, it’s that if we were able to put stars in the eyes of at least one person, we are happy… and I think the people who came with the idea of this hot air ballon succeeded.

Hey genius, why don't you explain us how a flame in a cauldron hidden inside a classic closed olympic Stadium often located far away from the city center is more visible by people living in the city than this stunning one floating in the air at the heart of Paris?

This was the Only Cauldron that can be seen from around the city and actually showed that the Olympics were taking place in the city and not limited to a simple circular stadium. French innovation is always top notch.
