True enough....it was after a really long time that I cried watching an anime scene
While this moment was absolutely legendary. I was pretty sure this was going to be a masterpiece once I saw there was an episode title "I cried, I cried my lungs out, then stopped crying."
That episode with the "I feel sick" scene, and the following "It's been rough hasn't it?" solidified that this was going to be something truly special.
That moment when you'r doing ur best.....but every thing ends DRASTICALLY TRAGIC!
It is bittersweet to hear such a song that connects with you so deeply. The piece is so beautiful, so meaningful, and so very sad. It describes so much relation without a single spoken word.

My favourite ost from the anime. Episode 15... My heart died in that episode. Like omg the impact that it had on me was huge. Subaru, I felt so sad about the guy.
But at the end of episode 18 he was better!

Probably the only anime that I was absolutely invested in, trying to understand all the different factions in detail and reading the light novels for even if I had to read the web version first then light, might even by my number one anime of all time
Re:zero is one of the reasons I got into reading light novels, I’ve never been this sad in a long time and in a way I hate/like this feeling
no yeah I like never read the light/web novels for these series but I've been burning through arc 5 since season 3 started, I'm a little over halfway through. this series is SO good and I hear it goes peak fiction in arc 6 so I really hope it's fully animated in season 3 and isn't just like half of it or anything

I'm glad I gave this series a second chance. I think the first time I watched it I thought Subaru was just a whiny idiot and gave it up, but on a recommendation I binged it and it's now one of my very favorites. I'm also on Team Rem - and this artwork probably represents what she'd look like IRL - gorgeous of course, but it was her strong character that I fell in love with. If I had a girl like that by my side - I'd be the happiest man on earth.

Re: zero always was a solid 8 to me... but that episode with this OST (the best OST from Re:zero IMO) was a shock to me. I fell in love with the series after that!

No, Re:Zero definitely didn't "filched bits" of "Across the Stars" here. There are minor similarities at best, the heavy use of string instruments and brass accompaniment may have reminded you of "across the stars." But the melody as well as the harmony are VERY much different the entire time.
You say that, but the section at :48-:56 seconds outright has the same notes, just on a different stringed instrument, and at a lower tempo for a more sad feeling. It repeats that core sting repeatedly multiple times before building into something different.
It's an iconic enough sequence of notes that anyone who has ever heard 'across the stars' (IE is a star wars fan) will immediately go 'wait a minute'.

There is only ONE soundtrack better than this, and it's "I'm so Sorry" from "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith"
Star War's, like animation, first started in the west so there's no denying they'd have a hard time saying they never watched or came before or heard about "Star War's" in Japan... Although, I don't know that but I do know it does sound a bit like "Across the Star's" but kind of veers off a bit close the the beginning-end to become it's own sadtrack.
