revenge is a dish best served on social media.
I'm surprised they don't just add a box that says "if both players check this box, both players will receive random civs."
So you can choose as normal, can even still choose random yourself, and if only one or neither player checks the box, your choice controls. So you can basically check the box, saying you'll random if they do.

sadly any type of these options for ranked only makes queues longer since you have less players in multiple queues instead of all in one, dont know if DE can justify doing that with number of active players

@@michaelzrust426 i don't see how it would make queues longer. two players queue up, then matched together according to the normal process. Then the game checks if both players choose the random option. Random civs are prioritized over the chosen civs, if not both players clicked on the "random civ option" then the picked civs are chosen by the game.

I’d like to note that he had less than 100 wood and no Lumber Camp or TC, and was basically dead, but continued to vil fight anyways even though he knew it was over. Blue was triggered. Epic game.
well if he does it perfectly he can use all of his villagers to farm up to full wood, then make a farm and hope every villager gets to send it to you so you can build a lumber camp again.

Like, are you the kinda guy who goes "oh noo, that coyote fell all the way down this mountain I'm feeling soooo bad for him"? There's a huge difference between slapstick humor (somebody gets hurt in a funny, but still fictional way) and real pain. I don't know how Tristan is in his free time, but he quite surely isn't a cruel monster. I think he's the kinda guy who may laugh when someone slips, but he's also helping them get up. Technically he's doing just that with Low Elo Legends when he's giving tips

There 100% needs to be a "random civ" checkbox so that both sides are random, it's as much of an issue in low elo as it is in high elo.
I think repairing the tc is supposed to buy you time to reach Feudal. Once you're already in Feudal I don't think you should waste loads of wood repairing a TC that will go down anyway. Just keep making vills and units to raid his eco, then rebuild the TC somewhere else when it has gone down.

About what you said about tournaments and ranked, I see the same thing happen in every game I've played that has a ranked mode and a pro scene.
Ranked players mimic pro players 90% of the time. If the top three pro players have success with one character or strategy, an overwhelming percentage of ranked players will do the same.
Shiek and Mario in smash bros 4 until bayonetta came along..

It does get stale, and players like us who dont have aspirations of going pro, but love the game and play it a lot...we change it up to keep it fun and the tryhards get to us sometimes, is ok.

Since you asked our opinion on the subject :)
I think it's totally fine that people in ranked tryhard. It's kind of the point of a game of versus to be balanced, and random civ just doesn't allow that (if I get turks vs aztecs, I can still lose even if i'm a better player than my opponent). The ranked queue is the place where us plebs that can't get into big tourneys have a chance to play the game seriously like the pro's do, and that is a lot of fun.
The problem atm is not so much people picking civs, it's persians being too good on certain maps.
I understand that some people like going random, and I like going random too, in fact I do go random more often than I pick civ, but I do it in unranked game. Unranked game aren't that hard to set up, and there you can agree with the others players what you want to do.
I think adding the option to see if your opponent is picking civ is fine, but I fear that it will just lead to people quitting games where the opponent picks civ, and lead to there being no place for people who want to try to play to the best of their abilities.
And we shouldn't forget that some people like playing certain civs, or don't like playing certain civs (I just hate Malay for instance, they are boring af) and forcing them to random just wouldn't make sense.
Finally, if you like going random in ranked, nothing is keeping you from doing it. Maybe we should just live and let live, if people wanna pick it's their choice, if they want to go random it is too
You might say that it is unfair because people picking civ will have an advantage, but going random leads to mostly unfair matches anyway, so it shouldn't bother random civ players.
The main reason for his defeat is deleting the Lumber Camp by mistake.
To be fair it's not his fault that the 5 guys previous to that was persians xD

I don't understand. The advantage of a Persian douche is that Persian TCs have more HP. Hun Tcs have the same HP. So, why wouldn't he just place 10 vils inside his TC and exchange fire with you while repairing his? Did you have extra vils in order to repair your TC?

Man, I really like your videos, but flexing your name in an attempt to get special treatment is lamer than laming in AOE (which is fair game anway imho - there's nothing stopping you from doing the same to your opponent)
I completely understand where you are coming from, but the line on food stealing seems completely arbitrary to me. Why is stealing food laming and frowned upon, but placing forward barracks and mining from opponent's gold/stone, or towering their wood line is praised as good play.
@@blaubeer8039 Well then Microsoft should balance their game better. Maybe make boar give up the chase quickly or make goats get tired and slow down after some distance, whatever. The point is: if it's in the game it should be allowed.
@@blaubeer8039 Offside made football less enjoyable, so it was banned. If you're offside then the ref will stop the game, nobody is expecting the other team to follow "unofficial rules", especially if there's big money at stake. Same goes for diving. M$ should fix their game, the days of "release and forget" are long gone, all proper competitive games are getting balance patches years after release, if AOE2 wants a slice of e-sport cake, then it should do the same.
It’s hard to scout for someone stealing sheep. So it’s cheap. You have a better chance of scouting for a forward tower and acting accordingly. A player can do any of those things. They don’t get banned, it’s not illegal. Play the game how you want. Climb the ranks doing it, but eventually the cheese will stop working and if that’s all you can do, you’ll start to fail.
Re the name drop I agree, it's a dick thing to do.
However on the subject of laming let me present you a scenario and ask how you would feel.
You are playing me in a 1v1, perhaps in a tournament with money involved. You destroy me in that game but when it reaches the point where I cannot win any longer and will eventually be killed, instead of gracefully conceding and calling the 'gg', I continue. I send you a message saying 'I will continue until you kill everything.' I don't have to give up, I can choose to play as long as I am able to. Would you say 'yeah no problems mate I understand, we'll keep going', or would you get annoyed that I am needlessly prolonging a match that you have clearly won?
Now imagine that I delay and delay and delay and your connection drops. I would win by default. Would you accept that as being ok? I suspect most people would be rightly disgusted at me for doing that and I would find it hard to find people willing to play games with me.

I mean, it its more efficient to leave them there for a few secs, it is calculated risk that only failed cause opponent went tryhard. Sure it is a valid strat, but if you still fail that bad against a hun tc drop while heavy laming you are the one playing bad

Stealing sheep is 100% laming. And laming is a valid option. Same as TC dropping. I don’t see where any BM in the community is coming from. T90 got salty about a cheese and counter cheesed.
I really don't mind laming and being lamed. It's strategy: you choose not to scout your base, it is a risk and is more micro-intensive. Sun Tzu teaches to take resources in the enemy area and this is a war game. Anyways, I agree that it is really bad that people don't go a little more random. I always go random and never ban any map (and then I get five islands games in a row, and opponent was always Italians.....)
That would be true if the sheep positions were same for everyone but als long as on Arena for example one player has it's sheep within the walls and another does not it becomes a really unfair advantage.
I suggest trying the Unranked Lobbies or befriending some similarly-skilled players for random civ games and "for fun". I get where T90 is coming from, but in ranked matches you will obviously almost always see tryharding.

Unit colission box reduced
Pathing for melee units, both when attacking and when clicking multiple times forcing formation and the your units dancing around to be in a specific order instead of every unit being able to take every spot in a formation. For example unit 16 is in the position of unit 1. Unit 16 will attempt to move to position 16 so that unit 1 can move to position 1. I think they should instead move to the nearest possible grid and then asign themself as that number, even if it causes all the highlighted units to move around at the bottom UI (only noticeable with damaged units)
So he was out of wood, deletes his lumber camp with his TC being attacked by yours, then builds palisades and then ends up on 8 wood with no way to bank it and still fights? Props to him for not just alt+f4 out of there.

Yep. Or just leavr it. You are in feudal VS dark, you have 10 more working vills, just save wood and rebuild it.

@@marekulc8273 sure you can shoot it, or just dont idle vill and rebuild somwhere else, when its killed, both options fine. But this guy did all wrong. Did not garnison his tc, but started to repait it, wasting tons of wood for it. Also scouts isnt cool for raiding in this situation, couse they can just be killed with vills, archers better. If you deny wood, tcdropper cant repair or rebuild it again.

They can do a suggestion function in the matchmaking. You can propose a map and/or civs to your opponent once you have been matched. That way a lot of people would accept playing arabia random civs or huns war if they want. And they can avoid playing the more boring maps more often too. Or they can at least let you chat with the opponent so you could pick civs you enjoy playing

To me, picking civ is fine. Going random si fine. What's not fine is not knowing whether the other player is picking civ or is going random
Just adding something like "other player picking" would be perfect
Same for team games, because the tryhard teams, all pick civs, and then if a couple from my team pick civ we end up outcived
Nice game xD btw I think that you should be able to build using resources carried by the villagers. If you have 5 villagers with 10 wood each and you have 50 wood in the bank, you shoould be able to build a lumbercamp.
