    Haha I guess I'm not the only one that just got one of these. Fun little project to play around with. Couldn't get it started, cleaned the carburetor, shut off valve, replace the fuel line fixed that. It seems like my clutch stays engaged in idle so I might want to do this. After I get it running correctly I'm going to change the carb and try and get some more speed out of it with some mods

    Gonna be rebuilding my clutch after it’s been sitting for 30+ years without a cover.. I appreciate the video!

    Yeah would you please show how you rebuild the engine and how you got it that way. I'm trying to rebuild one myself but don't have the knowledge to do it. I would really appreciate it.

    Can you show us the clutch cable routing? I have to replace mine and don’t know how it actually was assembled. It was gone when I got the bike.

      Treatland has them in stock periodically but you have to regularly check to see if you can find one. Hope that helps!

      @@DerdsBackyardGarage ight i got my first problem for you, the rear drum brake randomly completely stopped working while i was on a cruise i felt no tension through the cable or when i pushed the arm while on the way back it barely started working again and when i pushed the arm manually it felt normal any idea?

    • @DerdsBackyardGarage
      @DerdsBackyardGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The same thing happened to me as well. I would replace the pad and make sure the arm isn’t slipping that goes into the drum. I put a little tack weld on my arm to prevent this and it works like a charm now.

    Just picked one up! Curious about the head gasket? Is there supposed to be one. The shop/service manual says there is no gasket, is this accurate?

    • @DerdsBackyardGarage
      @DerdsBackyardGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey awesome! There is not a head gasket on these all you need to do is switch it out. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    My friend you don’t need to put a subscription reminder every 2 minutes lol. But why did you clear coat it instead of repainting again?

    hey how big of a difference does that high perf head make. im getting one and want to know how well it actually performs. i hear it gives you better low to mid range...

    • @DerdsBackyardGarage
      @DerdsBackyardGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that’s exactly right. It gives you much more low end acceleration pretty much making it so you don’t need to pedal when you come to a stop at a stop sign. For the price you can’t beat it.
