I was at Goodwill yesterday when I discovered that EVERYTHING in the store (except clothes and shoes) was HALF PRICE! It was going to be a quick visit, but I stayed for almost 2 hours as they kept wheeling out more and more new carts and all of those things were half off, too! It was Goodwill heaven! A really good visit!

Which state? They all have their own promotions so I'm trying to see where the good sales are when I travel. Northern Arkansas has half price the oldest tag color each week and then $1 for that tag color on Sunday. Southwest Missouri doesn't do any discounts like that. I've seen where some states or regions do 1/2 of the entire store sometimes, but I'm curious if it's anywhere close to me.
@@emilypatterson5542 I'm in Texas. We normally have just 1/2 price on the color of the week, but this is the first time we have had 1/2 price on everything. They do have 1/2 price on clothes several times a year and they just had 1/2 price again for everything on Good Friday. Not sure what is going on, but I am loving the savings!
In western Mo/eastern Ks we have 1/2 price on the color of the week and on Wednesdays the clothes with the color of the week tags are $1.79.
The letters at 8:55 made me laugh. Someone arranged them SPQR which means "Senatus PopulusQue Romanus”, which means the Senate and the People of Rome
As someone who lives alone I love buying one mug or coffee cup. My cupboard is full of “one of” cups because that’s all I need.
Ok, so I was in elementary school in the 1950’s to 60’s and we made those plates with the gingham fabric ladies on them for Mother’s Day gifts in school!! My mom had one just like it made by me….priceless!
I have my mother in law’s that she made at church. Don’t want to get rid of it for fear of some mother in law wrath that I don’t know about
then made a male one for Father's day to match! My mum had these for years, they are from when I too was in grade school...

If you put a string of outdoor lights along the ground and kind of cover the exposed cord with mulch and then put those clear insulators over each bulb, they look pretty cut along a sidewalk edge or garden edge.

At 10:50, there appears to be a rose quartz votive candle holder. That would probably be worth buying. I wish you had taken the elephant mask to the front. It was great, and even if they had not let you buy it, they could have priced it for someone else to find.

The plate @ 7:18 was popular in the late 60’s/early 70’s. My Mom made a pair of the plates for my grandparents & she used a pattern from a craft book.
I was in one of our lifeline shops on the weekend and I bought 2 little pewter mice for 50c each . They are about 1 inch high and I google them when I got home they sell for about $24 each on ebay .
Love your video’s, can’t get pot and shop so this is the next best thing for us old people! Lol!

If you take the clear insulators and put wire or twine on the to hang upside down and put a battery tealite in them and hang them around the yard during the summer nights they are very pretty.
Goodwills in my area, greater Phoenix, will price unmarked items and sell them to a customer without waiting if you ask. Interesting to hear the differences between Goodwills in other parts of the county.
In Tucson, AZ, our Goodwill's are awful. Things are just junked on the shelves. It is very difficult to find anything good, as if the items have already been scoured long before they hit the shelves.
She said "it's a sculpture" too funny.

The painted plates used to be done by ladies at home, often in parties where they all gathered to decorate them. (Think Paint & Sip parties of the 50’s) We had a neighbor who did them. She gifted three to my mom, one for each little girl in our family :)

The plate lady you asked about looks very much like one my husband made in school as a Mother’s Day gift project project for the class. It would have been in late 50’s early 60’s , so vintage. Love your videos.
For me the find of the day was the print with the baby/children shoes! I loved the colors and the designs on the little shoes❣️🥰
The plate with the lady portrait at 7:20 (“was it a kit you could buy?”). Those were a big deal around 1960. My aunt was crafting these in pairs. A man and woman. They were always in the style of around 1900 and people would put names on them for the husband and wife in the household. Like yours would be labeled Jocelyn on the lady and Andrew on the man. Then hang them in the kitchen. It was a thing. I don’t know if there was a kit for it. My aunt made hers from scratch.

I work at a thrift store in South Carolina and I can tell you the logic behind the price difference is that they may have come in at different times, and or someone else has priced it.

Grace ceramic comes from a uk designer my mom loves her tea cups and some are worth a ton then grace heart is made in USA its like a women's rehab they teach ceramic and get at risk women out of bad situations i only know about grace heart from research of buying my mom her cups

I thought the glass with the blue square stem was Mikasa. I used to work for them when they had stores in the original warehouse store in Carson, California. The colored stemware didn’t really do well, maybe it did for other retailers who sold Mikasa.

If something doesn’t have a price I always ask one of the employees coming out of the back of the store to give me a price. they’ll usually take it to the back and price it for me. I’ve never had one refuse to do that. if I take it up to the cashier without a price as you know, they won’t sell it.
That rattan monkey is something I would love to find. They are gold! I had one.

Frame 10:02 From the looks of it, I think they didn't expect that knot hole to pop out on them. Things like that can be dangerous when turning wood. ( or turning anything on a lathe )

You made those plates at your local ceramic studio. Many times, those neighborhood studios were in someone's basement. Ours was. You would buy the blank plate and then glaze it. You could add the name on it. My parents were given a set with their names. Then you could use patterns - most likely they came out of some ceramics magazine that the person who owned the studio got monthly - and scraps of fabric, trim buttons, lace, etc to do the clothing. Most people that I saw do them when I was kid and went with my mom brought their own scraps to make them to match a person's home. My parents had those over the bar. As for the large wall piece, I would have gone up to the register with the piece and the label that was on the floor and tried to get it. Whatever happened to Goodwill putting a price and color initial on the back? I have a feeling that piece was worth it.

Can't expect to do it that way.. You have to sneakily approach an employee. Say something like " I think I've been carrying this around since I got here. And I just meant to move it! But it's not priced so I'm awarding it to you! If they get even a whiff of you wanting it, the price goes up at least3-4 times!
