  • This is Red Matter 2 an action-adventure puzzler built from the ground up for VR headsets. This sequel to the award winning Red Matter 1 sees players taking on the role of Sasha, a new character from the one we played in the original title. Still in space, and still seeking answers about the mysterious Red Matter, this sequel is a mostly standalone story that builds on the first games lore while taking the series into new heights gameplay wise, often feeling like something made by Valve themselves. This is the premium VR PSVR 2 headsets have been looking for.

    Just played an hour of it and mind blown!!! This is the first game on the PSVR2 that looks almost exactly like what you see in all these social screen videos and reviews. Plus it is silky smooth gameplay wise? Like what black magic is going on here?!

      Whatever these devs are doing, they need to share.

      I just got this game a while ago, I kind of feel motion sick so I’m taking a break, but holy crap the graphics in-game are mind blowing, definitely the best graphics PSVR game as of yet.

      I've played it on PC and Quest 2, now bought PSVR2 and dying to try RM2 on it! What a game!

    Nice, most exciting game since launch for me! I just hope they remaster the first game for VR2 since I don’t have another headset. Oh, and maybe these talented devs can make a game more ambitious in length, say, 10-20 hours a la RE Village or Alyx!

    • @tinovfr
      @tinovfr ปีที่แล้ว +6

      As much as I would hope for something like that, it is simply not possible with a team of that size. Capcom or Valve have teams with hundreds of people involved in such projects. Yes, they can make a much longer game, but it needs much more manpower to produce these unique assets, characters, animations, and environments for a real AAA experience. Maybe they can team up and grow over time from sales, hopefully.

      @@tinovfr Good point, I didn’t realize until I saw Bryan Paul’s review that Vertical Robot has only a couple full-time employees. Regardless, bigger developers could learn a thing or two about VR game development from these folks.

    Seeing all the positive reviews makes me want to start playing already!
    Walkabout Mini Golf will have to wait a bit while I'll be exploring Space once this one hits the store.
    Great review by the way 👍

      Check out our top 15 launch titles. That covers alot. I would now add Walkabout Mini Golf, Red Matter 2 and both walking dead games to that.

      @@BillyB-1996 I don't have PSVR2 myself, so I can't say for certain. But a few games have been acclaimed by the game-o-sphere, namely:
      Gran Turismo 7
      Horizon: Call of the Mountain
      Resident Evil 8
      and Red Matter 2
      There are more games that have gotten a great reception as well, but those ones stand out as AAA-quality games.

    Just bought this and played an hour - FANTASTIC! Really shows what the PSVR2 is capable of producing graphics wise, and the game play is just so good on this. I am super impressed. I wish this developer made more. Worth every dollar.

    For the price of $30. That’s less than the price for 2 tickets for a one-time viewing of a 3D movie. I think it’s worth it for the experience, and the AAA visuals. Hopefully their next game is a bit longer, with more replay value.

    Loved the first Red Matter. It looked waaaaaaay better than it had any business looking on my OG PS4/PSVR. I wish Vertical Robot could share their magic sauce for making such impressive VR games with such a small team. It's really incredible.

      @@VRGRID That's insane. They MUST work with a bunch of external contractors. Even still, to find and manage that level of external talent would be a tall order for a developer that small. Super impressive.

      Imo no. You spend way more time outside your ship then you do red matter 1 and 2. Lone echos space walks are second to none. After a while red matter 2 feels like a reading fest. I actually liked 1 better than red matter 2. 2 is still visually pleasing and a great game.

    And we do it again... we keep praising a game with a few hours gameplay with zero replay value just because it has good graphics. Pffffff

    • @VRGRID
      @VRGRID  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I definitely would not give a game a high score if it didn't deserve it beyond graphics. Unlike LONN or Hubris, Red Matter 2 is a solid narrative driven game that tells a solid story and doesn't drag out things just to be longer. Not every game needs to have replay value, and the game is priced appropriately for its length. With this quality of gameplay, story, visuals, and audio, this could easily be a full priced title. - Chris

    • @Bevallalom
      @Bevallalom ปีที่แล้ว

      @VRGRID obviously it's a good game if you like linear story driven games. But it's so overhyped just because of the graphics.... I would possibly quit halfway in boredom. But it's me. I bought an expensive console and an expensive (for me it was) psvr2 and I want to see full games. I can play for hours and replay it if I want to. And I'm willing to pay for it. Look at that mini golf vr game. Gameplay-wise it's fine. But why the childish graphics? It's not for psvr1! Let's use the powerhouse of ps5 and psvr2...
      But hey! That is my point of view. That's how I decide to buy a game or not. Decent graphics and good Gameplay.
      But I'm happy for you guys enjoying this title.

      @@wonderrob3225 :) I run my own bussiness as we developer. Still, I hold on to my opinion. Games like this is a big no for me. If you enjoy it that's fine. And I do not try to mock you for that as you tried to mock me.
