Hearing and watching her is almost like having a confidential discussion with your very best friend! I'm so glad you wrote! I, too, think she's brilliant! Best to you! varadero
Absolutely stunning! I am playing the original Lorenz Hart/ Richard Rodgers version on the cello. This has added a whole new dimension of beauty to the song. Thanks Audra and thanks varadero 1839.
Moving ,,Beautifully sung,,beautiful expressios from the heart,,,,a beautiful shining American JEWEL,,saw here in Porgy and Bess, and in concert ,,,front row,,amazing,,,
Amazing. I'd forgotten that we first came to know Ms. McDonald through her magical voice. Now a days her role on Private Practice immediately comes to mind. A wonder and diverse talent.
WOW! Thank you sharing these incredible singers! I've heard that song 100x. But I didn't really hear it til now. I was near tears. So, melancholy! Thank you again Mr. V
Two thoughts - How often do we hear the introductory verse of songs like this? And the captivating Miss M. puts real LIFE into Larry Hart's lyrics! This is what music is all about!
To answer your question regarding the intros; hardly ever! I think that's sad, and I'm grateful to you for having commented on this odd phenomenon! I really just want to thank you so much for your notice of this unique clip by Ms. McDonald! She's brilliant! Thank you so much for writing! varadero
Hi 12boocat, I just now saw your comment and wanted to apologize. Sorry to be 3 years late, sincerely! If you've time read about Lorenz, Larry, Hart, the lyricist. He had an amazing talent, but seemed always sad. Given the times, he had many strikes against him. I love all his collaborations with Richard Rodgers; some of the best songs ever! Thanks for writing! varadero
@IDOLODORO2 So grateful my friend! It's hard to explain how she conquers this classic, but so she does! Ms. M's in another dimension, and we can only watch, listen and be amazed from afar!
Dear friend, my deepest thanks to you! Given your vast knowledge of all "good things musical," I'm once more in your debt. Ms. M is in a class by herself! Hope to provide more...
Sweet! my voice coach has me doing popular tunes now latest being 'On the street where I live" Audra has a clarity that I find to be a great indicator of a great voice (Luciano has this bell like clarity as do others glen
I'm so grateful to hear from you! I don't know where the 3 months went. I hope you'll forgive this late reply, unless I connected via G+! Given what's left of my mind these days, I'm beginning to think my song would be "Fall is Here!" Anyway, you're right on both counts; she has a beautiful voice, and is a beautiful lady. My best friend on the East Coast saw her recently as Billie Holiday in her show "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill." My friend started babbling about the performance; Audra was that good, and seriously believable! I'm glad you wrote! Thank you!
Spring is here! Why doesn’t my heart go dancing? Spring is here! Why isn’t the waltz entrancing? No desire, no ambition leads me Maybe it’s because nobody needs me Spring is here! Why doesn’t the breeze delight me? Stars appear, why doesn’t the night invite me? Maybe it’s because nobody loves me Spring is here I hear Spring is here! Why doesn’t my heart go dancing? @early60srcool You're so welcome! This one always lifts me up, then drops me down. Maybe it's because Audra shows 'em how! The Rodgers melody lifts you in the air, but the lyrics by Mr. Hart bring you back to earth. His was a tortured life. More talented folks are "out" there today. Sadly, in his day this wasn't the case. I think it cost him his life. We're the losers for I can only imagine what more wonders he might have written had he lived.
I agree! She's just amazing. I love how she manages to really convey the heartbreak that seemed to be wonderful Lorenz Hart! Genius seldom brings the happiness he so well deserved
@@varadero1839 I hope you've had the chance to hear her in concert as well as in a production. I've been lucky to have enjoyed her work numerous times and she is always a marvel.
Beautiful, and so appropriate for spring 2022. Thank you Audra for a brilliant performance.
GORGEOUS!!! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE ROCK!
Getting teary eyed. Could anybody but Lorenz Hart have conceived of this lyric? And Aidra MacDonald does it so well.
Unbelievably beautiful. Her voice moves me to tears. Seems to come from Audra so effortlessly.

An outstanding performance by a musical theatre legend.
What an incredible voice! If angels can sing I hope they sound like Audra McDonald.

Nobody could write intros like Richard Rodgers, so they're worth hearing.
She's a jewel! Her singing is flawless, and a fine actress. Thanks for your kind comment!!
amazing, touching, more than can be handled.

baby , you are super
What musical is this from? Rodgers and Hart wrote musicals. Never mind I'll google it.
+Victor1930 Okay - "I Married an Angel" 1938.
Shes no Lena Zavaroni
Lena Zacaroni was a pop star. You could also say Audra is no Barbra, or Dionne, or whatever. She is Audra. That is enough.
Thank God!
