    As rightly as Heath Ledger is praised for this movie, can we take a moment to appreciate Rufus Sewell?
    The disdain, contempt, pride, arrogance, annoyance, and scorn he portrays with the subtlest expressions make him such an incredible villain to loathe. I honestly can’t imagine the movie working nearly as well without him as Heath Ledger’s foil.

      Absolutely! Paul Bettany as Chaucer, a real poet and giant of English literature, is hilarious.
      Every time I watch this scene the way they weave “Golden Years” into the midevil dance music gives me goose bumps.
      Actors like Sewell are real artists. They can make you love or loathe a character as the script demands. Ledger was no slouch. You loved Sir William and The Joker gave you nightmares.

    Whoever thought to mix in Bowie was a genius. Such a fun scene.

      It was Heath Ledger's idea 😊

      It was fun, but felt so anticlimatic to the movie, because it is not so much as "ok, the music plays to give it a certain mood to a scene but only the people watching the movie are actually listening to it" and more like "ok, the people in the movie are acnowledging a music that should not really be possible to play then, because they lack the technology to actually have the instruments used when making it".
      It would be better if it was something toned down to whatever the instruments were at the time period rather than just going with straight up modern music with modern instruments.

    • @pmjosh
      @pmjosh 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GGWyzzyLmao. Are you joking? The modern music is the whole vibe and this scene shows exactly how perfectly it worked.

    • @GGWyzzy
      @GGWyzzy 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@pmjosh one thing is when a music sets up the vibe but only the audience hears it, another is when the music is literally part of the movie, just like this case.
      IF we are to put this very specific music into a medieval movie, then make it so that it is played by instruments that actually existed back them, because I doubt that by that time and period eletric guitars, bass and drum sets were available, heck, I would even doubt that this specific style of music would even exist then but fine, just make this very IN MOVIE song at least be feaseable with the instruments they would have at hand then and not something that seems like a time traveller brought to the movie.
      It fits the vibe of the scene? Sure, then make it play only for the audience watching the movie knowing it is a movie, not be part of it in-universe, it severelly breaks immersion.

    What i love about this film is the use of modern music to show fun. At the time, what we consider classical and boring was the david bowi of the age. They loved this shit. Imagine a world where you only ever heard music when you went to see it live. For them, this was queen, it was the beatles, it was amazing. Imagine being a person who never heard music before and someone comes out with a harp. For us its boring, its old, its date, but for them its rockstar. And they use the music in queen and bowie to show this.

    Everyone else: oh yeah, I know this dance now.

      The main idea behind incorporating 1970's songs into 1370 scenes is "because '70s are always the same", according to the director

    One of my favorite scenes of the whole movie. Love how it transitions from traditional to today's form of music and dance. Also this was my first time hearing "Golden Years" by David Bowie which was a great choice for this scene and became one of my favorite songs to listen whenever I want to get loose and have fun.

      Jesus way to over exaggerate. Great guy, as far as we could tell, we didn't know him behind the scenes. But calm down with this greatest human beings who ever lived nonsense. He was an actor, he didn't save lives, he didn't cure diseases, he didn't feed families. He was a great actor who seemed very likable and nice off screen, no need to put him on such a pedestal
