    He actually said this:
“Everyone talks about their own banal understanding of peace, without naming the main reasons for the war: there will be no peace for the sodomites, there will be no peace for those who kill children, there will be no peace for those who change their gender, there will be no peace for thieves and those who do wicked things, and for those who have stopped praying and are immersed in sin up to their nostrils - there will be no peace for them, ever. All the patriarchs, all priests and bishops should proclaim this.
“We need," the archpriest concluded, "to start a serious conversation about peace, about the genesis of war, about the genesis of sin, about the inner connection between sin and war, about the deep godlessness of modern civilizations and the fact that, for humanity, all this will inevitably result in bloodshed. This is simply God's Law.”

What makes you think that St Peter won't welcome him in for following Gods genocidal commands? God is big on genocide. Look at Jericho, and the Amalekites, and the Midianites. Before that there was the genocide of the entire earth. This god may be a bit conflicted though, getting prayed to by both the Russians and the Ukrainians alike. Which does he side with? Though god struggles against armies who have iron chariots, so maybe he is totally impotent in this war?

      The New Commandment
31 So, when he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him. 32 If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and glorify Him immediately. 33 Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come,’ so now I say to you. 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Those who didn't do Christianity the right way (not a true Christian), tortured, and if they didn't want to do Christianity the right way, killed.
The crusades and the Spanish inquisition killed millions, Some say millions died in just the Spanish Inquisition.
You are dead right on popes calling for war.
On November 27, 1095, Pope Urban II makes perhaps the most influential speech of the Middle Ages, giving rise to the Crusades by calling all Christians in Europe to war against Muslims in order to reclaim the Holy Land, with a cry of “Deus vult!” or “God wills it!”

We then look at the Midianites, where all were slaughtered bar the virgin girls. God wanted the girls to captured and be kept as sex slaves. Funny comment, I enjoyed it. :-) And it isn't just that there is no credible evidence, it is that there is no evidence whatsoever. Kind of makes me wonder why the same sort of idea existed in virtually every isolated culture in the world. Some need to try to make sense of something that in no way needs to make sense, I guess, meaning reality/existence/call it what you will.
The more I see of leading edge advances in physics, astronomy, etc., the more I call it down right weird. I can explain part of it though, I think. If you look at how much of the universe is truly SOMETHING, meaning not 'empty' space, including taking that down into molecular and atomic structure, mathematically, there more or less ISN'T anything here. How's THAT for an explanation?

As for "And it isn't just that there is no credible evidence, it is that there is no evidence whatsoever." This isn't actually true. A Christian saying that they know Jesus is their god because it says so in a bronze age book, does have evidence. What we need to do is assess that evidence and find if it is good or bad evidence. Okay yes, it is bad evidence, though it does actually classify as evidence, which is why I always clarify as having 'credible' or 'good' evidence. All we need to do is see some evidence presented in courts, boy often that evidence is often so bad, yet, it is still evidence. I have deffo been having a lot of fun in the comments in these threads on this video.

To attack the king was treason -- to dispute the priest was blasphemy. The sword and cross were allies. They defended each other. The throne and altar were twins -- vultures from the same egg.
    -
These robbers and beggars controlled two worlds. The king made laws, the priest made creeds. With bowed backs the people received the burdens of the one, and with wonder's open mouth the dogmas of the other. If any aspired to be free they were crushed by the king, and every priest was a Herod who slaughtered the children of the brain. The king ruled by force, the priest by fear, and both by both.
    -
The king said to the people: "God made you peasants, and he made me king. He made rags and hovels for you, robes and palaces for me. Such is the justice of God." And the priest said: "God made you ignorant and vile. He made me holy and wise. If you do not obey me, God will punish you here and torment you hereafter. Such is the mercy of God."

Often true, but not in some cases they weren't. There were times when the kings in Europe were nothing but vassals to the Church. They told Henry VIII that he couldn't divorce his wife (ultimately wives, actually) so he just told them to go screw themselves and made his own religion.
If I had existed at the time I would have laughed. Obviously HE didn't take their excommunication BS too seriously. :-) IMO that is pretty much the way the church should be handled EVERY time it tries to assert authority given to it by itself. Sometimes govts need to be handled that way, too...which in one case brings us back to another king, and involved tea and taxes.
If you look at some of the books that were excluded from the bible, like the book of Thomas, it's pretty funny. Thomas basically said that your beliefs were internal and really didn't require the church to manage them for you. I can pretty much guarantee you that book got thrown out the front door so quickly and at such a rate of speed that it caught on fire from the air friction it was exposed to...figuratively, anyway. A whole new concept in the idea of book burning. Hey, the church burns books, the Nazis burn books, Xi burns books, Putin burns books, etc. What does that tell you? They also have a lot of commonality in destroying or killing those that don't knuckle under. Hmmm.
And look how ungodly (couldn't resist) RICH and corrupt the church is, and how RICH and corrupt those dictators are! Hell, one of the churches even gave us sheltered pedophiles, and then provided them a never ending supply of kids to destroy, and cover and transfers if they got found out. That was, IMO, because of their brilliant tenant of not allowing priests to marry, which was another of those edicts that really didn't come from the bible, unless you look at one particularly misogynistic disciple and stretch it a bit.
They didn't stretch him, though, they hung him upside down, and in that case it was the Romans, not the church. The Romans were very creative in their cruelty, as well. I mean good grief, they hung them up to die, fed them to lions in front of roaring crowds, etc. They took their torturing people to death to the level of art, and called some of them 'games', but probably not in English. I mean that artistic part literally, the Coliseum is really something to behold. He (Peter) must have been the life of the party, too, because Jesus called him a rock. And he was hell on ears, but it ended well, it got spiritually glued back in place, no suturing necessary. Ears, eyes, water into wine, walking on water, RISING FROM THE DEAD, and lemming pigs, you name it. He could even cure things we can now readily cure, and know the causes of, by driving out 'demons'. I mean WOWSA! Are we having fun yet?

Forget just the lend lease. There was but a small portion of the German army committed in Russia, and the problems that the Germans were experiencing elsewhere caused the German thrust into Russia HUMONGOUS difficulty. As it was, that portion of the German army had just about conquered Moscow, and by just about I mean it's outcome was balanced on a pin. They were within 16 miles of the Kremlin, which was the capital then as well, VERY deep into Russia, and was looking like it might take the entire country. The Russians would have been absolutely OBLITERATED had the Nazis been able to array their entire military machine against them, or even a bit more of it, and that is not conjecture, that is fact.
Russians are fools. They rewrite history to make themselves out the saviors of the world, and then do the same stupid crap time after time, learning NOTHING. Right now Stalin is being rewritten as the very model of a leader and all around folksy, loving guy. Go look at how many Russians he BRUTALLY slayed, and the fact that he was HATED by the Russians for many decades after that. They also think they are fighting NATO, so there's that. If they really believe that and it ever happens, they are in for one hell of a shock!

"Thou shalt not kill" is actually a mistranslation of the Hebrew, "You shall not murder". The two statements are not synonymous, yet many people in the world still use archaic biblical translations, with unfortunate bioethical consequences. Not all killing is sin. There is also such a thing as a 'just war'. According to Just War Doctrine, the reason for war should be to protect innocent life from danger. For example, if genocide is occurring in a country, war is justified as it aids the victims. In essence, the cause of war must be in self-defense or other's defense to be ethical.

    • @briannewton3535
      @briannewton3535 ปีที่แล้ว

You say religion is weaponised, I would suggest that religion is the weapon, or the driving force to kill as has been the way from before biblical days, through the biblical days, and continuing through the days of the crusades and to present day.
Lets take a look at the 'the good book', and see if the biblical god stood by the "Thou shalt not kill." bit you and others feel is a core tenet within the bible. Or does the biblical god instead set up and present adversaries for religious leaders to attack and slaughter.
"Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men."... "Shout! For the Lord has given you the city!"... "They devoted the city to the Lord and destroyed with the sword every living thing in it-men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep and donkeys." ... "Then they burned the whole city and everything in it, but they put the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron into the treasury of the Lord’s house." Joshua 6 [NIV]
This same god told Moses to go and slaughter the Midianites:
_The Lord said to Moses, “Take vengeance on the Midianites for the Israelites. After that, you will be gathered to your people.” ..."the Lord commanded Moses, and killed every man." ... "Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man."_ Numbers 31 [NIV]
The young virgin girls weren't killed they were simply taken and kept as sex slaves which is classed as genocide.
This god also requires ALL the Amalekites slaughtered, including the babies and children:
"so listen now to the message from the Lord. This is what the Lord Almighty says:".... "Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.” 1 Samuel 15 [NIV]
Now tell me if your god stands by the commandment that you presented?
With regard to not killing, the better biblical guy in the bible is Satan
      *Kill count in the bible:*
      God - 2,038,344
      Satan - 10
So many think Satan is a bad guy doing bad things, yet in reality Satan was simply an adversary to the biblical god.
The Hebrew term śāṭān (Hebrew: שָׂטָן) is a generic noun meaning "accuser" or "adversary", and is derived from a verb meaning primarily "to obstruct, oppose".
When we see the slaughter undertaken at gods hand or word, and compare this to the achievements of Satan, Satan is the good guy in the storybook we call the bible.
How about we jump forward about a thousand years.
In 1095, Pope Urban II proclaimed the first expedition at the Council of Clermont. He called for an armed pilgrimage to Jerusalem, that was the first of several Christian crusades. Millions were slaughtered on the Crusades. Was the religion of Christianity weaponised by this pope, or did this pope talk with the biblical god to kick off the first of the crusades to slaughter millions in the name of Christianity? We then see the Christians kick off Spanish inquisition in 1428, This wasn't religion being weaponised, this was simply a religion against other religions, It would would be comical if it were not for the fact that some historians suggest the numbers killed until 1834 was into the millions, simply because a bunch of Christians who worshiped the Abrahamic god, wanted to kill a bunch of Jews and Muslims who ostensibly worship the same god.
You say *"Once again, religion is weaponised. Thou shalt not kill."* I think you may wish to rethink that thought

@@wumbleisthebest3270 Ahh, you say "To me, people who commit these things in the name of the bible are not christian." This is the "true Christian response" The no true scotsman fallacy does get trotted out with great regularity in the Christian community. I do find it a little amusing when we see Christians pointing at other Christians saying they are not Christian. This happens with great regularity. "I am a true Christian, those Christians doing or believing different things are not Christians".
When one can cherry pick from the bible to select content that aligns with ones own desire of what they require Christianity to be for them, will be comforting I guess, though doesn't make it true, though it does make it the greatest Pick'n Mix religion out there. I think it has well over a thousand denominations now, each one pointing at other denominations saying that they are not the right kind of Christian. I guess this is because each denomination will say *_"The bible is often misunderstood, as most people just take it literally."_* So each denomination will _'interpret'_ the bible to get it to say what they require it to say. This *"God of mercy, loving each other, even your worst enemy, treat people the way you want to be treated. "* Is certainly not the biblical god, so it appears that you have invented a version of a god that suits your narrative. Yes, you are cherry picking, though when we see the Muslims Jews and the Christians worshiping was is essentially the same god, and pointing at each other saying they are not following the 'one true god' it does get quite comical to be fair. Especially when we look at the Christians who worship three, yet somehow worship just one, though not the one the other two religions worship. The biblical god is a bit rubbish really, as if it is incapable of making itself known to it's creations, with only a quarter of the people it created believing it is the true god, and then
You say "For example, 'An eye for an eye' is falsely interpreted. Umm, no, this is simply one of many contradictory verses in the bible There are dozens if not hundreds of contradictory things written in the bible. In Deuteronomy 19:21 has "Life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot." Biblical scholars have cited that chapter as an ancient guideline for even-handed justice.
Though when one looks at justice and punishments throughout the bible it really is all over the place.
The biblical god is fine to have its adherents owning people as permanent property for example, You have chosen to "... believe in a God of mercy, loving each other, even your worst enemy, treat people the way you want to be treated." Yet the biblical god allows those who have purchased a person to be a slave to beat them almost to death with impunity.
      I ask you Is this...
      i ) a _God of mercy_?
ii) a god suggesting we should be _loving each other_ or beating each other almost to death?
iii) a god that puts a permanently purchased slave below the status of _ones own worst enemy?_
iv) a god suggesting that it's adherents _treat people the way you want to be treated,_ so suggesting that people would want to be beaten almost to death?
You definitely have dreamed up a god that is certainly not the biblical god. I'm so glad that I don't get my morals from the biblical god, as mine are so much better than that of a racist, bigoted, misogynistic and genocidal monster. When I look at Christians getting their morals from the biblical god, the Russian priests shown in this clip are so much like the biblical god that gave them their morals.
I would agree with you when you say "... there are tolerant and _open-minded_ christians out there who want peace." When one is _open minded_ enough to let rational thought and critical thinking fall out of ones _open mind_ with regard to simply imagining what they want their god to be, and ignore biblical content, that is very open minded.
I think most Christians probably are 'nice' folk, despite the religion they follow. It is just the religion, doctrine, and the supposed biblical god that is vile and abhorrent. I have no idea why folk worship it. I guess out of fear through indoctrination when young I guess. I do feel a little sorry for theists in this regard.

I get it, If I were to believe in the biblical god, I think I would feel ashamed that I could worship an all powerful being with those awful character traits and a penchant for genocide. I would probably learn to deceive myself over time, to believe that this god is a good guy wanting people to be kind to each other also. There are so many religious beliefs out there, and then when select the religion of Christianity, the beliefs that Christians have about their god and doctrine varies wildly. No one can say what a Christian is, other than the specific Christian themselves, as I have chatted with a Christian who didn't believe that Jesus was the son of the biblical god, which I thought was kinda key to Christianity.
I never mentioned your 'values', as I know nothing about you, other than you are a Christian who believes in the biblical god, though it appears you have created a version of the biblical god that is less bigoted and slaughterous. I never mentioned your values or morals per se. I simply mentioned where biblical morals come from, and supposedly they come from god, or that is what the bible tells us.
As you appreciate that a god did not make mankind as is talked of in the bible with amusing tales of dust ribs, snakes, and fruit, but instead we are simply a product of evolution developing over about 3.7 billion years, It appears we agree that we get our morals through societal influences through personal interaction. I'm now curious to what you think that your god has done, and if it has any influence over the lives of its chosen people. I guess other gods may have influence over their chosen people in different ways also. Maybe your god simply initiated the expansion of our universe all those years ago? Why did it wait so long to create a Jesus I wonder? It is disappointing to know that Jesus feels that anyone other than a Christian is deserved of an eternity of torment in the fires of hell. If he couldn't make himself known to us, why couldn't he just let us end when we die, and that be the end of it? Instead, for some reason seems to feel that we deserve to be punished, for as you expressed *"If i live a life without harming anyone, what does it matter? It works for me and it works for others."* Yet for anyone other than a Christian Jesus ain't letting that work for me, even if I live a life without harming anyone. I think that is extremely unkind, definitely not how I want to be treated, but it appears I don't get a choice unless forced into believing that Jesus exists. Forcing beliefs onto others is bad don't you think?
With regard to "...the world would be a better place if we'd stop forcing our beliefs onto others." I agree, when people force their beliefs on others this is generally a bad thing. Christianity experienced an explosion of believers when they forced their beliefs on others through the crusades, and then the deaths that occurred through the Spanish inquisition with people not following the 'correct' religion also, but what is done is done I guess.
When theists continue to dictate societal law through referencing ancient bronze age doctrine things do go somewhat awry, though thankfully society is slowly shaking off some of the bigotry that religion informs its adherents of with regard to the unjust and prejudicial treatment of those wishing to identify as different genders for example.
      Have yourself a blessed evening.

The thing I like about Christians is that they point at other Christians complaining that they are the wrong kind of Christian, or that they are not 'true Christians' like themselves.
I think with regard to murder, I don't know if we need to just consider what is preached by a specific denominations of the orthodox version of Christianity per se, maybe just reference what is in the bible. and see who is the one who instructs murder after preaching it.
This god requires ALL the Amalekites slaughtered, including the babies and children:
"so listen now to the message from the Lord. This is what the Lord Almighty says:".... "Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.” 1 Samuel 15 [NIV]
      Similar situation at Jericho:
"Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men."... "Shout! For the Lord has given you the city!"... "They devoted the city to the Lord and destroyed with the sword every living thing in it-men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep and donkeys." ... "Then they burned the whole city and everything in it, but they put the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron into the treasury of the Lord’s house." Joshua 6 [NIV]
This same god told Moses to go and slaughter the Midianites:
The Lord said to Moses, “Take vengeance on the Midianites for the Israelites. After that, you will be gathered to your people.” ..."the Lord commanded Moses, and killed every man." ... "Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man." Numbers 31 [NIV]
The young virgin girls weren't killed they were simply taken and kept as sex slaves which is classed as genocide.

I think Jesus died because the Romans saw him as a troublemaker. If a bunch of people considered Jesus as a leader and teacher, and possibly a king or a lord, in a tightly controlled regime that quells that sort of destabilising behaviour. I think Jesus died for being ignorant, careless, or simply indifferent on his reckless actions. I guess he got what was inevitably coming to him.

@@abikeanditsboy3449 We do note that the Russian Orthodox Church seems closely tied to waging war on a race of people who have been peace loving and non threatening to the Russian state yet the Church has got involved in wishing to slaughter many in this country simply because they don't think they should do with their country what they are actually doing. This this the biblical god thinking 101.
Have you not read the bible? Here, let me give you a taster of how the Christian god does things, as you seem ignorant of the character of the Biblical god.
We see that this god was keen to keep the young virgin girls as sex slaves. removing part of an indigenous population from their homeland is also genocide. The god that the Christians worship is a bigoted, racist, misogynistic and genocidal monster who advocates owning people permanently as property. We note the actions of an army in Ukraine raping women and girls, and killing civilians of all ages. Just like the biblical god instructed
This god then does over the Amalekites:
_"so listen now to the message from the Lord. This is what the Lord Almighty says:".... "Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.”_ 1 Samuel 15 [NIV]
In guessing god was happy in slaughtering all of these infants and children though. I guess that's what ya get from a merciful and just god.
With Jericho, I recall the song in Sunday school ending "when the walls came a tumbling down". They should have told us young innocent kids what came after that in "the good book". Here we go though:
_"Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men."... "Shout! For the Lord has given you the city!"... "They devoted the city to the Lord and destroyed with the sword every living thing in it-men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep and donkeys." ... "Then they burned the whole city and everything in it, but they put the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron into the treasury of the Lord’s house."_ Joshua 6 [NIV]
The way I see it, it truly looks like the biblical god is siding with the Russians, as this shit going down in Ukraine really looks like the true MO of the biblical god. Down to the biblical god failing to have battlefield success against an enemy who has 'iron chariots' that could beat the forces of his chosen people.
_"The Lord was with the men of Judah. They took possession of the hill country, but they were unable to drive the people from the plains, because they had chariots fitted with iron."_ Judges 1:19 [NIV]
So yeah, These war mongering guys are in lockstep with the character of the biblical god.

    • @briannewton3535
      @briannewton3535 ปีที่แล้ว

The bible teaches much that is reprehensible. The biblical god is a racist, bigoted, misogynistic genocidal monster with a penchant for war and slaughter. The biblical god will set up the enemies of its followers and support it's followers to defeat and slaughter their adversaries. I see what the priests are saying here as being perfectly in-line with how the biblical god would engage with the religious war instigator.
In the good old days of spears and bows and arrows, priests were present at the battlefield to demonstrate that the god they chose to worship was with them in battle. It's always been like this. Maybe read up about religion and war, it's fascinating.
You say "They have tarnished and sullied my faith". When you say your faith, I guess you mean your particular religion and selected denomination of that religion? Your faith that a god exists should not have changed or be sullied surely? Unless you are upset that this god supports the Orthodox Christians on the Russian side, as well as supporting the the Ukrainian Orthodox Christians? I gotta say if I was a god having to support and assist those in battle on both sides, I would be conflicted, thats fer sure. It must be difficult deciding which Russians and Ukrainians are deserved of death, as it is all down to god's will.

Well, the Christians definitely had Pope Urban II kick off the first of several slaughterous crusades in 1095, so, that is absolutely the Christian version of a jihad. Though I guess any religious power wishing to oppress other races, cultures, or populations just because they believe or do things differently to themselves, and commit genocidal acts would essentially be a version of a Jihad. Here we have Russia who is a predominantly Christian nation where the head of the Orthodox Christian church who is closest man to the biblical god in this country supports this war, then it appears that the biblical god supports this attempted genocide.
The biblical god had Moses, Joshua, and Samuel conduct similar things in biblical scripture.
