In the piano roll are you using 1/16 or 1/8 timing Because I don't use FL studio but I do use studio one and we usually use the piano roll for the bass. This is a nice tutorial though I just need to know cuz it's hard to see on my phone.
is there a way to record the melody one whistles directly in FL studio? and also does one need all those plug ins to make good beats? or are the presets sufficient with some music theory basics?

I know this old but Suggestion: I believe doing a tutorial based on reggae using nothing but FL stocx plugins, etc. would be more beneficial to many simple becuz i'm sure there are more ppl interested in this genre but might not be able to spend $50 - $100 on those particular plugins u have. It's not the plugins - it's about being able to use what u hear & whatever u have available to create the music - any kind music. Peace... That whistle was DOPE tho {Thumbs UP}

You need to download the kontakt demo or something you should find it on Google but the kontakt demo is like the full version without some much expansions but you can find plenty of expansion on youtube
You ever tried whistling into melodyne and then turning it into midi data, snapping it to a key you want, adjusting the timing then importing the midi to the DAW and using a synth or sample to play it? sick way of doing the melody ...

+shika maru go step by step, you will upgrade as you go. You can record audio into fl studio using ASIO Drivers and the mixer inputs.
