    Thank you for the adequate explanation, but you may have forgotten an important part. In the event of a variable load on cold water through several air treatment units. You need to reduce the speed of the water pump. Therefore, you must control the operation of the water shredder by placing an insulated water tank suitable for the load. It controls the capacity of the shredder through a special temperature regulator or several thermostats depending on the number of compressors in the shredder.

    Thanks for this explanation. Had a question regarding the check valve screen filter installed at the FCU. My check valve screen filter is installed on the return line (after the coils)? Is this right? It seems sensible to have this screen filter to be installed after the shut off valve and before the chilled water enters the FCU. Can you confirm?

    • @MEPAcademy

      If the valve is also used for filtration, then having it on the supply side before any coil or control valve would better serve its purpose of preventing debris from collecting in sensitive control valves or clogging heat exchangers.

    • @JtotheRizzo

      @@MEPAcademy Thank you first and foremost for replying. That's what I figured. Also, all the piping that carries the chilled water and hot water to our FCUs are ALL Black pipe (same pipe used in gas piping applications). Not sure if you know NYC code but this doesn't seem to be code unless I'm missing something here. Building was built in 2018. It's a newer building

    • @MEPAcademy

      @@JtotheRizzo Not sure about New York, but its common for engineers to specify copper for all small piping up to 2" or 2-1/2", somewhere around there, and everything above that to be installed using carbon steel piping.

    • @JtotheRizzo

      @@MEPAcademy The Risers are 1-1/2" (maybe 2") black pipe (looks to be iron and not steel) and branches are 3/4" black pipe then transitions to copper at the shut-off valve to the appliance (FCU). I'm thinking this is the cause of my cooling issues because my HVAC guy found a lot black sediment in the chilled waters. He thinks it's coming from the Riser and Branch piping that is running throughout my building and causing inefficient cooling with some of the apartment's FCUs. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

    • @MEPAcademy

      @@JtotheRizzo Black sediment could be many things. what kind of chemical treatment is the chilled water system receiving? Are there dielectric unions or nipples between the black pipe and copper? Sounds like the system needs to be flushed. Have you cleaned the tubes of the chiller?

    hi...sorry for personal question...but a kelvion gas cooler with 8 total fans in two rows is being installed at the roof of a supermarket next to my bedroom but 3 metre below. in terms of height..do you think this will make too much noise and the heat from the fans will be damaging...would there be any difference during summer and winter noise and heat levels...thx a lot

    • @MEPAcademy

      We would need to see the submittals for the unit being installed. The submittals or engineering manual should show the NC (Noise) levels that will be experienced at different distances from the unit. You state your 3 meters above, but how far horizontally are you from the unit? Sound will reverberate off the walls surrounding the unit if in proximity to walls. Wind direction will affect the discharge air coming off the top of the unit if in a windy area. Heat rises, so the outdoor temperatures will have some effect, which is more important for you during hot days, when additional heat is unwanted. Your local mechanical code will dictate how close this piece of equipment is allowed to a property line. Good Luck.

      Thanks a lot...horizontally we are 1 meter from the coolers....the sound pressure levels are 27 and 17 at 10m during day and night...the sound power level is 61 and 51...thanks

    • @MEPAcademy

      You might want to contact a sound consultant. That is not our specialty. They can do field measurements, which we don't do. Everything else is just theory from a text book. You need field measurements to document the actual conditions as there are many factors that can play into how sound moves off surfaces.@@spssgs

      Temperature and humidity levels vary per geographical area. The heating coil can be used when dehumidification is required to drive down the humidity and then bring up the temperature so that it's not too cold, and it can also be used in cold climates where additional heat is needed to supplement any terminal zone heating. The boiler would also feed any VAV reheat Coils are Fan Coils that are not shown in the image.
