Without sand there will be cracks in your final sculpture. After about a week or two. With sand there will be no cracks and sculpture will be more firm. But! If you will need to correct your sculpture after casting it will be difficult with sand in mixture. So you need to decide what is more important for you.
Hello, again, Mr. Zaytsev. I have a question about your gypsum shell: How do you keep it from cracking as it dries? In the video you seem to apply quite thickly, yet you do not seem to have any cracking. I applied my mold about as thickly as yours here, but it developed cracks all over. Thank you.
Hi. Did you use simple gypsum? Did it crack while drying? Thet is VERY strange - I make gypsum shells every time and there isn't any cracks. Cracks while drying are more often for cement and concrete.
@@ThePeterZaytsev Hello. Yes, it was simple gypsum. I have watched some videos on gypsum preparation, for I have never used it. I think the layer may have been too thick or it had too much air in it. That was on the first half of the outer shell. No cracks have appeared on the other half. I took my time with this second part--let the powder sit for a bit before stirring and got the air bubbles out. It dries quite slowly. I do not know if this is normal. I have read that it should be left for up to 72 hours to achieve full cure state. Do you let yours sit this long? I will continue to learn about and work with this material. Thank you for your reply, Mr. Zaytsev.
beautiful work !
thanks! check my latest video.
Also Im not getting whats happening between the legs . How do you finally get the gaps ?
Beautiful work
thanks
how did you hide/blend the seams where the horn broke? Looks like some sanding, but did you use any kind of concrete "slip"?
I am using "white glue + cement + plaster" mixture to repair my concrete sculptures
Where can I buy it
I can make one for you
Should we use sand with cement ? Or simple cement mixture?
my teachers at department ask me to add sand please tell your experience

I prefer to make my sculptures without sand. I know that I will spend some time to hide small cracks. But final surface will be better.
perfection
Thanks for sharing 🙏. How did you hide the traces of adhesion on the horn? Brushing thin cement or acrilic paint?
Thanks! Glad you like it ) I hide it with mix of white glue with cement.
Great video...not sure what gypsum shell is for the parts under body. Also what is the final coating ? is it Clay?
what material do you use for the external mold that contains the silicone?
gypsum
It's really cool. Thank you for letting me appreciate the beautiful work.

I see you made a mold from a previous rhino of yours, then multiplied it. Is it?
yes
What does adding the white glue to the cement do?
Concrete became a little harder
@@ThePeterZaytsev Oooh okay thank you!😄
Beautiful work Peter! Is the lacquer a concrete specific product, or more generic?
Thanks, Dion! I choose lacquer is absolutely random.
What is the purpose of applying lacquer?

Is the lacquer matte ?
Yes
Thanks for reply 👋
why we need to add white glue into the mixture?
It makes sculpture a little stronger, but It is not necessary.
I use glass fibre for that aim but can't use in casting method.
What is the blue product? Silicone? Latex?
Silicone
