  • Here goes my Ice Battle Theme concept for Indie game "End of the Fallacy." I plan to make some tweaks to this track sometime down the line. I aimed to make this sound a bit more like an old school battle with some modern touches here and there. This was harder to make than I thought to be honest. I hope the guys at Crimson Forge Games can dig it!

It's interesting you put the emotion of almost happiness in a battle theme.

I think sometimes it can be ok and totally acceptable depending on the art style. I imagine this being something very anime like lol.

Really nice work. Love all the different voices and moving parts, really contrasts all the slow, minimalist ice level themes out there. Funnily enough, I found this video through researching songs to make my own ice theme :P

Your tunes are too good. Keep it up! I could see these in the nearest Square RPG (hopefully a better one than they've been putting out lately).

That made me laugh harder than I should have, but I agree with you Square has been slipping lol! Thanks so much for the positive vibes man I am trying to level up anyway I can. Composing for RPG's is the goal for me :)

I was all "KYAAAA" about the fft picture when I saw the thumbnails. It is funny because the song doesn't remind me of it even by a little bit, well, maybe for some kind of dynamic tutorial or demo. But about the song itself:
The set up is something that you have to save as a melody for yourself, maybe Fallacy won't ever use a similar theme, but it builds a certain depth for character concepts etc. Try use some deeper tones on most of it and you'll get a great result.
The 0:12 melody... how the fuck do you do that? I mean seriously. I have a really skilled pianist friend, he covers the most harder songs I ever saw in bgm sending really strong emotions, but he says compose is too hard! Damn, you make melodies as you breath! Anyway... it is really my favorite part of the song by far, it makes me not want to listen anything else, it is really addicting. Because of the picture, I can kinda see some fft sprites etc. But not for a game like this.
However, I really expect great graphics for a game with a song like that alone, it brings a certain dynamic and like I said, it is not catchy, but addicting, the break you make to a second melody adjusts the pacing and then when it brings the previous one back it is really satisfying, a "Yay, the song didn't forget it" feeling. I mean, try play this game digimon world ds battle v goburimon for 20 minutes, recording the gameplay (i want you to feel the atmosphere) then on the recording take the audio out and put this song on some casual battle. IT IS REALLY FUN.
The song is perfect for those turn based battles where you are playing almost automatic, maybe not grinding but making your way through some nice place like the first levels when you're already familiar to the game, it makes the moment pleasurable, you enjoy the melody and do something else, it is a great feeling, a really passive one. However I don't think Fallacy can take it as their mechanics didn't really stand out (digimon doesn't either, but the graphics build up a nice aesthetics along with it). Well, I only played the demo, I hope I'm really wrong =)

For some odd reason TH-cam had labeled this message as spam so I couldn't see it for the longest time! I have to say I really love your honest feedback. You give me hope that I can eventually break out into the industry I really have to take it one step at a time and try adding a little more depth. As for creating melodies I love it! Its my favorite part I whistle and hum a lot to myself so I usually just translate those tunes into FL Studio :)

This is pretty cool. But for some reason I think it needs some heavy electric guitar rifts. XD. I've been ruined by modern video game songs.

That is something I want to experiment with in the future actually lol! Thanks for your input Tibu! I know what you mean though, but I love the classics so much
