    Just a suggestion/request for a future video.
Maybe a video focused on power development showing and explaining some lifts or medicine ball work with tips and points of importance

That's an interesting topic and one that I'll add to my list of video ideas - thanks. We combine med ball work with drop jumps and have various exercises designed to compliment our weights and more specific plyo's,

Hi John, It seems that when I transfer from my hop to step my cycle leg is nowhere near parallel to the floor and I don't get into proper position. What drills do you recommend?

Are you talking about the thigh in the step??? If so, you need to drive it out and up and then up again (hold it higher). If you do not connect with the hop-step contact properly then you will be out of shape to transfer... key is an upright torso - otherwise it will act as buffer against the free leg swing. Also get the foot (and the leg) out in front of the hip and work the ground for the hop-step contact - this should help create the position to swing the step leg up and forward. Arms are crucial too and need to be behind the hips and positioned to swing through to help propulsion. I'd recommend continuous bounds - say 3-4 with an 8-10 step approach, plus two bounds from a low platform (20cm) with a run on, and a jump into the pit (which you may have seen on the channel).
Plus... place a suitable platform about 20cm high for you to step onto following a hop from a short approach... so you hop and then have to get higher to get onto the platform for the step... complete the full triple jump obviously. The platform will force you to lift you step thigh that bit higher and to hold it there before the step-jump contact (on the step). Obviously make sure that the platform is strong, steady and positioned correctly. Increase run up as you get familiar with this drill. Hope this helps and hopefully the answer addresses what you were asking. Thanks for the comment and good luck.

@@Johnshepherdtrackcoach Thanks for this reply! By the way, do you think hip-flexor strength has a role to play in this at all? In fact, I have a basketball background and we never lift our knees for any running so our hips are very weak.
