I’ve just purchased one of these as a small practice amp. I don’t sound anything near as good as Jon makes it sound but for £150 I’m super impressed with it! The headphone out is also very handy to keep my marriage safe 😂

Jon is not playing this into an actual speaker cabinet. For my Bluejay to sound good into a speaker cabinet I changed the tube to a 12AY7 and added a UA 1176 and Wampler Euphoria OD as an always on light drive with fine dynamics

Definitely make that a 12 inch speaker, brothaman. 10 inch just doesn't sing the way a guitar signal wants to. 12 over 10 will make an absolutely huge difference, trust me. I am a speaker dork and I have built , bought and customised everything possible over the years. Every single 10" speaker I've used in, both, custom and retail cabs (1x10 , 2x10 and 4x10) absolutely pales in comparison to 12" speakers, even when the quality of the 10s is 2x the price. It's weird and inconvenient, but it's the truth

this is an improved version and sounds much "better" as the bluejay, biggest problem with that clean lunchbox heads is the headroom, but perfect for noodling at home for that price a no brainer, you can buy two of those heads for the money you would spend on just one boutique distortion pedal instead, thats a bit mindblowing imo....but get the atomic also, you will love it got mine for 60€ used, have all 2 channel version heads also, meteor is my favourite so far, cheers 🎸🎸

I prefer this to the Jackman original that I have . The cleans and the dirt tones are better by my ear. I would get one only I recently got the Harley Benton Tube 15. It has blown me away - amazing tone even a low volume which is something I need. Maybe down the road though. You got some amazing tones from this Beauty Jon. Brilliant 😄👍👍👍🙏

    • @EasyHeat

Do those Harley Benton tube 15 amps ship to the U.S. with 120 voltage appropriate transformers, or will they require modification?

    • @tomdameek
      @tomdameek 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Ps if you did buy one from Thomann, you would need to get a transformer in the states. Thomann don’t supply transformers. I know this as a friend in the states had to do this for another amp. He bought an external one. I would chat with an electrician to make sure you get one that can handle the power of an amp.

I have the BlueBird Bantamp and it’s sounds great. But this one Jon sounds absolutely amazing! I think I need some tweedy in my life… Lol. And the thing about it is they’re so cheap. You don’t have to break the bank to have one. The 20 watts really packs a punch too for such a little footprint. Joyo is really knocking it out of the park with these amps as well as their pedals.

1st time visitor. I searched on a couple different JOYO amps, the TWEEDY being one of them, and landed on this demo/review, both of which I enjoyed a lot. If you listed it on this page, I couldn't find it, but then I' old and my eyes give me fits, but anyway, which cabinet were you playing through?
I like the TWEEDY better than the BlueJay. I don't crank up overdrive or distortion, and I really can't stand the sound of a fuzz box (unless Jimi's playing it), but I do like having the availability of different timbres, contours and flat-out distortion for those few times I would use it. Seems with the BanTamp series, the TWEEDY is the happy medium. It's got more sounds to play around with than the BlueJay (at least in the couple videos of each I've compared), but from what I heard on this video, it's not a heavy metal machine like a lot of the JOYOs are. Maybe the heavy metal is in there, but you didn't seem to have any trouble keeping it tamed.
The only JOYO I like more than any of these sub-$200 series is the one named after a viking hammer, which I could probably use every day for the next 10 years (if I live that long) and still not be able to spell or pronounce the name of the thing correctly. However, it had the most dynamic mixture of sounds in the video I listened to, but at close to $600 bucks, I can think of a few different combo amps that I'd rather spend that kind of money on. The whole line is chalk full of choices though, and there's nothing to complain about there. Good video, Jon. Glad I landed on it. 👍

Monoprice has their Stage Right cabs, too, which are comparable in many ways to the budget harley bentons. In the States, the Monoprice are often more available, but either one of those brands should take care of you no matter where you live. Don't feel like you have to get a big name brand. The speaker is the most important part and both of those models will be great. Size is up to you, but a 1x12 should be more than enough.

That being said I'm intrigued by a sub 200 USD F circuit.
    I'm curious what
Guitar - Input (Tweedy) - Effects Send - Cab Box - Input - Out.
    means.
Are you running the signal without using the power amp section of the Tweedy or do you have some sort of emulator in the FX loop before the power stage and then running direct to a DAC?

I'm thinking of buying one of these little heads as a second amp. I run a Blackstar Club 40 already but- these sound so good and I could set it on top of my Blackstar and plug the speaker right into it whenever I want to run it. Or- I could setup a stereo amp rig- just need another cab. They cost about what a good dirt pedal costs- which just seems impossible but- somehow they did it and it still sounds good. Really makes you question why some amps cost what they do huh?

I noticed a background warbling ticking like noise, is this the amp or the single coils that is causing this?

Really impressed by the sounds out of this. I'm also glad you ran the FX to an IR loader. That's basically what I've been thinking about doing in my apartment with something along the lines of either a Victory V4 "The Jack" preamp pedal, or an Orange Micro Dark. Seeing as my gear budget is currently limited? I was realistically looking at the later, but for the cost of a Micro Dark I could get one of these with two channels AND bluetooth with possibly enough change to spare for a coffee. Haha!
I'm thinking possibly the "Jackman II" may be the right model in this Bantamp XL line for me, as I like a little more classic hard rock gain on tap to boost into further saturation via an overdrive. If anything it should definitely tide me over till I eventually splurge on a Victory V4 preamp or full on tube head & Two Notes Captor X. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Great playing, demo, and content as always Jon!
Take care my dude, and keep yourself safe & well man.
    Cheers!

Great review and playing. Question: the speaker out on this is 8ohms...have you played it with a 16ohm cab (such as that Orange beside you, I believe)? If so was there any appreciable loss of volume or tone quality? Thanks

Hello. Can the BantAmp be used without connection to the speaker output and without connection to the headphone output AT THE SAME TIME!, without harming the amplifier? Would the amplifier suffer some kind of damage at the moment or in the long run? I want to output the signal through the amplifier send to an audio interface to record the signal without cabinet emulation so that I can use my custom impulse responses, and at the same time I don't want to have headphones and/or speakers connected for a while, can this be done without damaging the amplifier? Thank you

    • @JonIsJustTooLoud

This makes a mockery of tube amps costing thousands, in my opinion.
