I'm curious how youre able to distinguish which pickups are in use, I guess it comes with experience, but is there a good way to tell? I play some guitar (self-taught), but I've never really understood how the pickups change things, that being said my ears arent really made for music :D
Experience, playing lots of different guitars and pickup configurations. Over time certain guitar sounds will always stick out a certain way. Strats and Teles are usually a little easier to pick out as well, for me at least
