We played these old rainbow six games online for years. Very tough and competitive. The tank movement with the precise and deadly tactics just made for such a unique feel that no modern game has.
First game I played coop on PC with and it still blows my mind. The airline mission is taken right out of a real life event where France had to get terrorists who took over a flight
Great video, brings back many memories. We would play this a ton and I agree the level of detail in planning was incredible. I’ve been getting back into N64 and just bought a Rainbox Six cart. It’s Still supposed to be good for what it is. Makes me want to get my cd’s out again and try to get it going. Lol
Thank you for this great video! I still play the older games in the series to this day. I prefer them over the direction Siege has taken things. Subbed!
Thank you for review! It's a game of my childhood. My friend shows me this game and I fall in love with it. For many years it was my Christmas holidays game!
The best tactical shooter ever made, best missions, best music, best atmosphere. I used to play it in 2001, i have play Recently and completed it 5 times in row. Best game of my youth times
This was my first FPS game that defined for how an action shooter must be. Still I cant figure out was the AI in this game very good or very bad, and that made game so difficult. You must shoot them before they see you, there is very less delay, before they spot you and shoot you down. But, then in this same video, when team invades hostage room kills two first and third one had all chance to shoot the hostage, but he looks like became glitched. Most of the enemies are more like patrolling robots. SWAT 4 I think had the best enemy AI for a tactical game.
I love this game, its the first game I ever played and it never fails to get me nostalgic with the iconic music, sound effects, and graphics. I couldnt get my original discs to work but Black ops 2.0 on moddb finally allowed me to play easily after so many years. Co op on Lan is extremely fun on this game. You can even have AI teammates on cooperative mode and the cover/defend/snipe is really helpful for impromptu strategy. I absolutey love setting my team's ROE to infiltrate or recon, then giving them the snipe command and performing stealthy synchronized kills.
The sound file in the first 52 seconds is so amazing. I believe it was called "roger that" and I am looking for ages to download this. Does anyone know where I can find this. It gives me goosebumps, and it reminds me of all the Rogue Spear tournaments I played back in the days. This is indeed the grandfather of all tactical shooters.
Man that tube brought back so many memories of college days. Freaking loved this game. My dorm mates and i would team up and wreck dudes from around the nation
Agreed. The golden age man. Good times. In 1998 alone we had Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Half-Life, Metal Gear Solid, Grim Fandango, Starcraft, Resident Evil 2, Tenchu: Stealth Assasin, Spyro, and Baldur's Gate, among others...
I miss this kind of game that didn't make you feel like a super human. Not only was it a great game but it made you respect violence if that makes any sense.
I know it's been one year but you need to understand something. Ghost Recon is a military simulator. There are no real planning phase as the planning is happening as the mission goes. Soldiers receive orders from their officers but they don't have a precise path to follow, as it is decided by the squad leaders. It allows a more fluid logistic as the commanders are in charge of whole armies, so they can't plan every single detail to every squad of every legion. They just relay orders to the officers, who decide how to dispatch the smaller objectives to the squad leaders and defines their insertion point, then the squad leaders do what they want with their squad as long as it helps the mission. The Russians learned it the hard way back in 1999 with Grozny. Only the commanding officers knew everything and didn't let their smallest units with an ounce of freedom of movement. That was one of the factors that didn't help them during the first Grozny siege.
That's fine, but I'd wish for more nuanced commands than just "move here", "hold position", "suppress" and "recon". I like Ghost Recon, but the lack of efficient communication is frustrating. "We're here" Who's where? "Enemy sighted" Ok, what bearing? "Goodbye" ok? "We've been made" WHAT. BEARING? In Arma when an element made contact they'd at least give that goofy ass "2, Rifleman, 200 meters, northwest." Everytime you relay a message to the squad lead (or anyone for that matter) you'd first identify the receptor, then the issuer, then the message (with a bearing, in case of enemy contact), then break, this is universal SOP. Your squadmates in GR are only good for spotting the enemy since they can see through foliage, they can't provide proper coverage (360 degrees) while moving or idling, unless you tell them to pull security (hold position). GR is an infantry combat game, specifically recon ops, and to my knowledge camouflage is not only limited, but it doesn't seem to do anything? the moment my snipers in full ghillie suit fire a single shot, every enemy in a quarter mile knows where he is... instantly... regardless of suppressed weapons. Also, no smoke grenades? really? in an infantry combat simulator. Enemies don't seem to have a problem stabilizing their aim, they can sprint, crouch and hit a target in the dome from 300-500 meters instantly, with a standard issue kalashnikov without a scope; having to stabilize your aim is a good abstraction, but in Ghost Recon, as long as you sit, you can spray targets from half a mile away without a problem (since there's no significant ballistics), to the point where I never have to use anything but full auto, I once was able to take out an entire platoon worth of men from 400+ meters with a subsonic MP5SD... on full auto. Come on. Ghost Recon can be fun, but I think the series was better served with Advanced Warfighter on PC, the first one feels more like an experiment with the concept, I think Operation Flashpoint: CWC and ArmA advanced the formula significantly, plus they had implemented combined arms warfare, with that said I couldn't recommend Ghost Recon over those two.
@@tatuira93 the AI in the first GR would drive me crazy with all those problems but atleast on expert they were more reliable than R6 and Rogue Spear teammates if you almost exclusively use them for ambushes at long range. I usually use bravo team to suppress with the m249 just to get the enemies attention towards one direction then be ready at the flank with alpha to fire immediately afterwords, and maybe Charlie sniper to cover our backs. Does Advanced Warfighter on PC have good AI teammates? Is it worth it to buy as a successor to the first game?
I bought it but never played it. Was addicted to other games. I just found my copy a few hours ago. New I have a gaming beast I will dust it off. Thank god I buy an external cd/dvd drive.
this is REAL Rainbow Six,,, Im so FUCKING SICK of everytime I say "Rainbow Six" everyone says oh yea yew mean "siege",,,, NO! NO I DO NOT mean siege,,,,, gggwaaaaadddddzzzz
My only option is running it on duckstation using a ps1 rom, up scaled it looks just as good as the pc version, it has a pretty good auto aim system (which is required) and it managed to not detracted from the tactical aspect either! Gotta say really loving this one!
Thanks for the update - if you search for "Rainbow Six Legacy" in Discord you should be able to find the channel, with instructions on how you install the game on latest Windows if you feel like firing it up again
Interesting - I tried a few different things and lighting seemed to be best with this version but I'm using windows 10 so that might be part of the problem. I probably should have reduced colour mode to 16-bit colour in the properties - that might be the difference. Will try and do that for the next video and see if that sorts it.
@@MB93 it's because with the rogue spear version from the discord, the gamma is set to the max by default in the settings of the game. I lowered it a lot to make it look more realistic. The 2nd mission on the boat should be way darker than that hehe! I guess they pumped the gamma so high for visual clarity but it kills immersion imho.
Hey, great video, thanks for promoting Rogue Spear, it's one of the best game to ever come out! I'm doing Elite difficulty speed runs with no casualties or injuries, check out my channel, actually the 3rd mission is very easy and AI can clear most of it but the first time I played the game I replayed it like 10000 times...
youre the best of the best, remember that
Bro this was my jam for a decade plus. I started playing it in 2000, gosh I miss this game!
My gamer tag was Destreik.
We played these old rainbow six games online for years. Very tough and competitive. The tank movement with the precise and deadly tactics just made for such a unique feel that no modern game has.
I agree. Its crazy how this felt so much more real than any modern game. I would love to play this again. Wonder if it works on mac. I have catalina.
Gernade glitching
I grew up with this game.
I absolutely love it.

Used to love the planning in this and doing lone wolf with a heartbeat sensor.
That thing was fantastic. Id love to use that with my team, letting them pick off terrorist as we moved forward

The one with the weird scaffolding was a TV station.
the best of best game.
Do you find this game better than Raven Shield?
Rogue Spear is my favourite 👍
@@MB93 Can you elaborate more on that?
Much better than Siege and Extraction
the game give's CS a run for its money.
Black Thorn was the last good one, but Rogue Spear and Urban Ops was the best.
why black t. better than raven shield

miss that game, played it for 1000's of hours, especially the multiplayer
