The defense averaged less than 10 points per game in his 6 starts. Saying he'd be 6-0 if the defense did their job is really rich considering they basically single handedly won him the 4 games he did win lmao. Fields 4 wins the opposing teams scored 10, 6, 10 and 13. They lost both games where their opponent scored more than 13 points. The offense was undoubtedly much worse under fields, he simply benefitted from a totally healthy and fresh defense at the start of the year. Russ likely goes 6-0 in those games.

I like what i seen out of Fields when he was starting. His only problem was pulling the trigger in the passing game but thats exactly why you need good intelligent coaches to help develop him and teach him what to do and look for and he will not get that from Tomlin or any yes man he hires as coordinator.

If they had 4, 5, 6 drops in the game, it doesn't matter who the qb is. Russ was not great but several deep passes, at least 4 first downs of 12+ yards were dropped.

2023 fields had one of the best deep balls in the NFL. They completely limited the playbook in Pitt and then takes shit for successful game management.
Fields random bouts of being inaccurate due to mechanics can cost you a game. I like him and hope he continues on this trend of improvement but let’s call a spade a spade here and not sugarcoat his flaws of which there is numerous.

I keep hearing how Russ missed a wide open GP and I will not argue the truth to that but I also don't think GP would have caught the ball if it was perfectly placed. We have watched over the past few years GP make spectacular catches that no one can explain yet in this game he had balls go thru his hands .. Bad play calling was t the reason we lost valuable time at the end of a comeback attempt...that was Russ acting like a rookie and running for 2 yards. Since this slide, Russ has made mistakes after mistake right along with crappy play calling on both sides of the ball.

That’s one of our long running problems, we constantly have a winning season and end up picking in the bottom half of the draft. By then the top QB prospects are gone . We saw that with KP and it’s going to remain that way for a long time. Meanwhile the Browns get 2 nd again. And Cincinnati was in the superbowl with Burrow and the haven’t been able to reach that level since, sometimes we forget how good we have it .
