Quitting my Job & Starting a £250K Bar

- This is my journey trying to start a £250K bar restaurant with no money, in just 55 days! As most of you may have seen from my previous video, I had just quit my job (as a matter of principal), and I was just weeks away from losing my apartment! I decided to start a vlog with no idea which direction I was heading (hence the poor filming). So I started with the inevitable, I began clearing out my apartment, and giving away all of my possessions to charity.
After a few days of some serious thinking, I decided it was time to take on a new challenge! I came up with the idea of opening my own pub, but after a recent trip to Amsterdam, I thought I would try to achieve the impossible!!!
I set myself the goal of opening a quarter of million euro's Thai Bar, in an A-location in one of the biggest tourist areas in Europe (Amsterdam's Red Light District)!
I started this journey with almost no cash, and my final months wage was a measly £900. To achieve my goal, I would need a series of small investors & banks to lend money. Then I would give that money to a leading investor as capital, along with a business plan that would seem almost too good to be true!
This was by far one of the most ambitious adventures I have ever embarked on, and it just goes to show that anything is possible. I will make an update video once everything is set up and running!

Hi Frazer, I have to say I wasn't expecting this after your last video.
One thing for sure is no one can say your not trying.
Sounds like a sound investment to me I mean food and drink/ coffee shops all seem to be thriving so in a decent area of Amsterdam why not.
You obviously have strong connections with the Thai community which seems to help you a lot, and why not.
What will be happening with your bike, can you take it or planning on selling or storing it? Hopefully you'll have time to do some Dutch Motorbike vlogs.
Really hope things go well for you and thanks for being so open and honest about you progress.
Congratulations on securing investors, and accomodation it can be so frustrating but seems like you cracked it.

Hi Fraser. Have you looked at the returns of a lot of similar businesses for sale? I’m worried for you that you’re thinking of a high capital investment into a typically low return business- and with next to no capital - or industry experience. Also, hospitality businesses are very complex and tiring to run. The type of interest and repayments you mentioned sound too much. There are other types of businesses out there that maybe more suited. Have you looked through lots of business and franchise opportunity publications. Also, make sure you get accounting and legal advice. It’s a must and you need to budget for that.

For those of us not savvy in the business market, what are they? I'm guessing high interest of loans/not having the business in your own name? Genuine question. I've done 25 years in healthcare. Completely different world
@@ultimatebuzz73 In essence the story sounds very similar to the common "Nigerian email scam" ie. I promise to give you a lot of money providing you give me a modest amount first. (the promise never materialising obviously.)
Hopefully I am 100% wrong and just an old cynic but quite honestly if he's raised £250,000 with no security, no experience and no track record then he is an absolute genius at raising capital and should do that full time. 4 similar plans a year would give a very conservatively estimated income of £100,000 in arrangement/finders fees. (Better than cleaning pots and pans maybe?).
Saor Alba. 1. Under capitalised, increasing costs (interest), challenging cashflow (interest and repayment schedule). If any payments are at risk then it could be over.
2. Non-traditional lenders / investors. We’re not talking a business loan from a high street bank. Where I come from, an inability to borrow from a bank is an important warning bell in itself. God knows what happens if there is a default.
3. Who’s business? I just about had a heart attack when I saw who would own it.
4 inexperienced in business and the sector. I’m sorry but Fraser doesn’t have either. I really want the best for him but both are important here. I would also say he doesn’t have an affinity with food production.
5. Unrealistic expectations. If you’re worried about how an employer feels when you’re too sick to work, think about how hard it is when you are the business and it simply won’t open or continue unless you’re present.
I hope Fraser can use my comments as some kind of motivation if he’s made the call to go ahead. But at the end of the day there are factors you can’t control. And one is not enough customers. You can’t make people come.
