    Genuinely devastated about the 2.0s, that was one of the biggest things that made the CEO so interesting and fun to me, and my partner's absolute favourite boss.
    Prioritizing cracking their shells before utilizing sound/drop combos was such a breath of fresh air from the other predominantly sound-laden bosses.
    Now it feels like they're just back to how they used to be, but worse 😟

      Taking damage really isn't a big deal in Toontown when the damage is as low as regular cogs usually have. This is just going to be, use sound, then heal after. It's essentially asking forgiveness for playing wrong, rather than permission. The system as-is requires skill, the change they're proposing barely encourages skill

      @@RetroBeany- until you get spammed with sweeps and take 80 damage

    • @RetroBeany-
      @RetroBeany-  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I mean, as long as there aren't 4 max damage 2.0s in the fight, and they aren't all going to spam their highest power AoE attacks, and you don't take damage from all 4 75% accurate attacks, you probably won't take that much damage. Even then, not even 80 is all that much when you need to have like 100 laff to even get a CEO suit and you won't be taking damage elsewhere in the fight

    I'm not a fan of them removing trap giving lure an accuracy boost, there are times I'd trap mainly to help ensure a lure would hit but now that incentive is gone

    • @RetroBeany-
      @RetroBeany-  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yeah, it's crazy! I feel like it removes such an interesting nuance from the game to have this interplay between gags. But, who knows, maybe they'll change their minds about it before the update drops!

    • @RoryTheFiend
      @RoryTheFiend 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@RetroBeany- Yeah like I actually wouldn't mind the other gags not providing an accuracy bonus but to me trap should specifically boost only Lure's accuracy.
      Also for Sound nerf, well that probably wont make a huge difference if people actually learn to optimise who should use fogs and when, also restock sound / sound unites will just be used a bit more probably so I'm not sure if that'll change much, especially since they said their going to make facilities / bosses have less cogs or something?

    • @RetroBeany-
      @RetroBeany-  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Quite true. The splashability of unites is just gonna make sound as necessary, but more annoying to grind cfos to use.
      And that trap thing is actually how clash did it; trap provides a single 20% boost only to lure gags which keeps the same amount of strategy but nerfs how utterly busted 3 trap 1 lure is. But, that's why they release these things early, so the community can complain about it lol

      @spectre9065 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RoryTheFiend IMO, planting trap only boosts lure accuracy but trap going off boosts accuracy of gags other than lure. That will give them a nice synergy.

    I'm just coming back to toontown and it feels weird that they'd make all these big changes to gags when the primary appeal of ttr as a server is the nostalgia of almost everything being the same as tto

    • @RetroBeany-
      @RetroBeany-  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      I think the community's opinion on that front has shifted. Games like Sunrise Game's Toontown and Toontown Archive exist to maintain the historical context of TTO, but a lot of the community has embraced and anticipated change.
      Toontown just isn't getting new players, and nostalgia is running dry without new updates. TTR is still quite popular, but sees a slowly declining playerbase, whereas games like Clash, Event Horizon, and ODS are seeing interest from outside the Toontown community.
      Essentially, TTR is just trying to adapt to survive, shifting its nostalgic goals from not changing the original whatsoever to trying to make changes that stay in-line with what the original would have wanted to do.
      Personally, I really like it! I find modern Toontown games to be really nostalgic with the settings, enemies, graphics and music they have, while still providing new experiences and fixing the huge problems TTO had. Sorry to answer you in so many words! If I had more time, I would have written much less haha

    I think the reason people hated reinforced plating is because of how rare v2.0 cogs are. The only places you'd ever see them would be in cog golf courses, and the CEO. In other words, places where there's other toons pressuring you to play well.
    If v2.0 cogs were elsewhere in the game, in environments with less time and peer pressure, people would be more receptive to them.
    I think removing it is a shame, and a missed opportunity.

    • @RetroBeany-
      @RetroBeany-  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yeah, I think 2.0s had a lot of room to become rare miniboss cogs throughout the game, like how .exes are implemented in Clash

  • @daniegamin
    @daniegamin 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    The reinforced plating removal is a bummer. I'm pretty sure you just mouse over the symbol and it tells you how much it takes off. if some one has a problem with it, it's legitimately a skill issue. the one Fog rule in CEOs being dead was my highest praise of that update.

    I read all of the document regarding the changes, and tbh, they're taking a huge risk here, a lot of drastic changes that will for sure impact the toontown experience immensively, for me it's another win for the Cogs, since most of the update is a huge buff for the cogs and a huge nerf for the toons, maybe there's a Cog among the devs?

    • @RetroBeany-
      @RetroBeany-  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the supervisors will add a lot, but otherwise there aren't a lot of nerfs besides sound. Sound is, of course, huge, and any nerf to it is going to have a big impact, but other than that we're mostly seeing buffs in the form of different organic boosts going up, lure accuracy being increased and easier to boost. I don't think the game will be too much worse, it'll just focus a lot more on single-target attacks. Plus you can still golf and play the trolley as much as you want! I think the Toons will prevail against these new threats!

      @@RetroBeany- "we're mostly seeing buffs in the form of different organic boosts going up, lure accuracy being increased and easier to boost"
      Alright, let's see here:
      Toon-up: "Increased organic Toon-Up healing bonus from 10% to 20%"
      Not enough to justify going to organic toon-up
      Lure: While it's true to almost all of the lures, "Decreased Presentation base accuracy from 95% to 90%" looks like a nerf to me.
      And also "Organic Lure now shifts the base accuracy of Lure by an additional 10% rather
      than being an additive bonus during the battle calculation"
      Correct me if i'm wrong, but it looks like a nerf, rather than a buff, because it seems to me we no longer will have Organic Presentation giving 100% accuracy
      Throw: Oh, no throw changes i guess, despite having small problems with it's accuracy
      Squirt: "Increased organic Squirt damage bonus from 10% to 15%"
      Again, same thing as toon-up, not enough to justify going for an organic Squirt
      Trap: Eh, i concede there's a buff
      Drop: While it's true it got a small buff, i still partially disagree with them when they say "Drop is in a decent spot right now", for me, they're blind to say something like this, while drop is:
      1. Extremly hard to train
      2. Easy to miss
      And it's gonna suffer even more with the new Stun logic (Which btw, is another huge nerf), at the point i'm considering that Dropless will be the new meta
      So, yeah, in general, although there are buffs, the nerfs, for me, are too much to even out with the buffs, making this update a L more than a W.
      "I think the Toons will prevail against these new threats!"
      Glad you think this way, it's always good to have some positive thoughts, i'm trying to, but it's hard, especially with this update falling into the "threat" category.

      @@rodrigotimoteo6186I mean the stun bonus in general is higher, and now solo lure is more effective since base is higher except presentation. Also the reduced xp points for sound make a significant difference leveling sound, so while peak sound may be weaker somewhat, it’s still meta and easier than ever to max. Also since i recently returned to the game, toonhq now links in game so you can join boarding group from toonhq making buildings and task progression leagues faster. In less then a weak I’m already in the brggh with 4 level five gags, so I think ttr is still in a healthy state even if this wasn’t well received.

      Yeah, I've already got some preliminary ideas for the strategies in mind based off the play test. I could make a video about it, but they'll probably be tweaked before release so I wouldn't make anything too final
