    Hi my car is doing this , EGR has been cleaned and manifold cleaned but still keep getting the error code P0400 any ideas/help would be gratefully received

      Hello. The P0400 is an EGR specific fault code. Did you put power to the EGR to check its operation? I have another video showing how to check for a sticking EGR on this car where I power up the solenoid to show it sticking. Even if yours has been cleaned it may still be sticking because of a solenoid fault or not operating because of a wiring issue. Powering the EGR up manually would be a good place to start then you would know which direction to go in. Hope this helps.

      Thank you . Will take it back off again and recheck. I did have a new one fitted but still keep getting the error code and check vsc and 4x4

      @@superstorm007 those VSC and 4x4 errors wont go away unless the fault codes are cleared with a scan tool. I experimented a bit with this issue and with the EGR plugged in, even after a test drive the VSC/4x4 errors were still displayed on the dash and would only clear by erasing the fault codes that relate to them with a scan tool.

      @@lcmotorvehiclerepair3961 yeah I've cleared the code loads of time and it still returns every day and sometime won't even clear. I'm just at a loss now and my head is getting mashed with it. But will pensive and get down to the fault.in the end.

      @@superstorm007 Any luck? Would be interesting to hear if you solved it... - I know the P0400 is a tricky matter. It pops up now and again on our 2006 2.2L D4D, all three errors on the display: engine, VSC and 4x4. Toyota then clean out something, and/or pour some fluid in somewhere, and then they do a clearing-out drive, burning off all the soot. They claim it's because we do too much local driving, no long runs. Sometimes the RAV4 goes into some kind of safe mode in which it refuses to accelerate beyond a certain speed (40km/h ≈ 28mph or so). - I'll check the EGR valve as per Liam's other video and reset the codes... - Thanks _very_ much to Liam for documenting these repairs, very much appreciated!

    I’ve unplugged the battery for >1min and it resolve the error status causing limitations using speed regulator

    Question , will that techstream program update the ECU firmware to eliminate the problem as toyota did a free update apparently to solve this issue. And 2 have you any idea were to get the update. Cheers.

    • @lcmotorvehiclerepair3961
      @lcmotorvehiclerepair3961  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, Techstream will do it however you need a subscription with Toyota to access the servers and download the updates then flash the ECU. Free firmware update, for this issue, will be provided by Toyota if you take the car to one of their maindealers though. I can only say this for sure here in the UK, it may be different in other countries? Toyota are pretty good like that though - I have a friend who ran a hilux pickup that was 14 years old. There was a recall on them and Toyota bought the truck back from my friend at twice its current second hand value.

    Maybe it was better to disconnect the battery first avoiding getting those errors while disconnecting the EGR valve.
