  • Buying things on Ebay don't always work out as they should! Today I took the gamble and paid a lot of money, to try and repair this Xbox Series X and make a profit. Hopefully we can do just that!

Looking at the pads for the HDMI port brought back some memories, I did this 2 years ago trying to fix my broken PS4 and I never managed it. Sold the board & DVD drive as a pair in the end and put myself off ever attempting again. Until a week ago when with an Xbox One S, successfully replaced a HDMI Port for the first time. Felt Great, got a lot of motivation to try again from watching your videos.

I had a similar issue, replaced the HDMI but the ground legs on the ports are ridiculously short. If you don't get the solder to flow all the way through it doesn't provide any anchor at all. I ended up scraping some of the ground plane and adding more solder plus some JB metal weld for good measure. I had to repair 7 traces, I didn't want to do it again lol! Great video showing awesome technique, I used to try and recreate the pads, but now I use this method and solder to the pins.

Couple of tips on the failed screw. Try a rubber band in the space with a Philip's head screw driver or dremel a straight line on the screw head to enable a flat head onto to unscrew. Saves trying to remove the thread. Great video as always.

A set of small Ez-Outs are essential for buggared and fubar'd screws stuck in place, use your dremel or a fine drill smaller than the thread width and drill a hole in the hex head area down then get your ez-out, tap it in til its solid then use a wrench or adjustable and turn it lefty loosey whilst applying some upward pressure on the screw head. If that doesn't work some magic then the next thing is to simply find a drill bit that is just below the thread width and using your already drilled hole, put in a bigger hole, then using a lefty right action keep drilling the hole and use the drill as a side mill which will chip away at the by now very thin walls until the whole screw comes away. You might need to use a slightly bigger threaded screw if the original hole has been chewed up, a tap for that size will put in a new threading and you should now have a screwable hole all ready to work :D
