I like the fact that Alex doesn’t hide he’s not a professional. On TH-cam everyone knows “the right way” to do everything. But with Alex it feels like we are on a journey together. Great job mate
It is so inspiring, and shows that, like most things in life, you just gotta do something and ut turns out somewhat alright anyway. Usually you don't *have to do it like this*
Fun anecdote about compost bins: I put compost in my grandparents garden a couple of years ago and found two knifes my grandma threw in there with food scarps almost 8ish years before. So moral of the story, buy Solinger knives they will not rust after years in the compost bin and if you’re lucky, you’ll find missing cutlery too!
I love how this dude is so grateful for the little things. Like cardboard, or walnut trees, or his own pair of gardening gloves. Keep doing what you are doing Alex!
When I watch your videos I feel relaxed, cozy, happy and I'm learning a lot, you feel authentic and I do know any creators that have the same feel as you, thank you so much for the videos your incredible. Also congratulations about your channel blowing up you have got 70-80 k subs in 5 weeks that is incredible, you disserve it.
I love that Alex pretty much perfectly exemplifies the beauty of the cycle of curiosity, leading to learning, leading to attempting, leading to errors, leading to more learning, leading to improving, leading to pride of ownership and acquisition of knowledge! I absolutely feel like the social media has robbed a good portion of the next generation of the enjoyment of going through that cycle for themselves, and instead feeds them whatever the algorithm makers think will get companies the most engagement and ad revenue. Keep going Alex! You're doing amazing, sir.
I once had a 4 acre small holding for almost 20 years with veg plots, chickens, bees (30 hives), a few pigs, a small orchard and two huge compost heaps, lost it all when my landlord died and his kids sold up, I really miss it all so much, so it's great to watch a young person such as yourself with such passion👍
I’m sorry to have read there. Sometimes something like this happens tho when someone dies and passes it on to multiple people, they probably had to sell due to splitting it up between them. Probably some needed money and maybe no one knew how to work/ live off the land. Again I’m so sorry as you have lost it all. Shame you haven’t been able to find somewhere else, but it could happen again… I hope you manage to get somewhere where you can at least garden and maybe have bees. Good luck
Just love the positivity and Alex just makes me happy he inspires me to do many things like growing plants and bee keeping I just want to say thank you Alex ❤
Hi Alex. I’m a fellow beekeeper with 6 years experience. I checked my 4 hives yesterday for fondant stores. All 4 hives are doing well, so far! Good luck on your beekeeping journey 🐝
Through the magical powers of the TH-cam algorithms, somehow Just Alex popped up into my feed. What a treat! Your enthusiasm and can-do-it attitude is endearing and infectious. I share many of the same interests as you. While I am not nearly as industrious and adventurous as you, watching has given me great ideas. Thank you, and keep the wonderful videos coming! I appreciate that you present everything in a way that makes me feel, however daunting, that it can be tackled. With a some research and learning from others, you just jump in. I love this excitement! Great work Alex!
Your subtle sense of humor makes me chuckle Alex. (“the anatomy of a pallet” made me feel like I should be taking notes!). The good son comes through when you say, “you might want to skip this dad”. I suspect one or both of your parents have passed on their clever whit combined with a warm and caring nature. Congrats to them both!
This is something I've wanted to do for a long time but haven't yet. Good job Alex. I've seen videos of people building cabins to live in from pallets and furniture.
I don't remember which channel I saw it on but they didn't take apart the pallets and used the middle spaces as a tool holder. I appreciate the amount of work you put in though and it came out beautiful!
Alex, this is a very, very useful and informative video, I hope you are inspiring young people to get started with a garden. You can really make a change on the way the past practices in gardening were done. I have gardened all my life but in the last few years I have learned so much about soil health and no- til gardening. I'm 64 yrs old and I actually think these techniques make planting so much easier. I feel we have come to a time where it is also important to grow some of our own food. I like you and enjoy all of your videos, keep up the good work!!! God Bless you. From Bonney Lake WA., USA
Just had a good old laugh at myself - only an hour ago I'd posted a somewhat lengthy comment on one of your earlier gardening videos about the virtues of compost and growing how you would've seen nature doing on your foraging expeditions, and here you are echoing everything back to me! It's wonderful that someone who professes to know so little, knows so much, and obviously does a heap of research - 10/10 and a gold star young man! Love n hugs from an old no-dig, compost-on-top gardener from Oz 👏❤️🤗👩🌾🦘
Fantastic video Alex! Really neat and simple idea for a compost bin. And like you said this year you won't have to buy compost for the garden and will be most likely be a better quality material. I also seen your dad's Mini in the back ground. I hope he's enjoying it to the fullest. Cheers Alex I look forward to your next video
I found your channel from the suggested videos list and I am so happy that I did. I could watch your work and adventures anytime. Your are a miracle, I am just amazed and bring me joy seeing what you achieve! Keep it up! Regards from Romania.
Great Video Alex!!! I've missed your super FUN videos. Now I just want to hang out and garden with you. Spreading Compost,, tilling it into the native soil, and plant up as much as possible. I love being a Farm to Table Grower, and watching all the lovely food that comes up from little seeds, or stock. I am embarrassed to say that I have 8 Compost Bins that each are so large I can get the front loader on my John Deere, to scoop out buckets of it at a time, to spread everywhere. Mine are made out of Cement blocks. All 8 bins are in stages of breaking down. [2] Alex,, you can also make paper compost. I would go nuts without making paper compost. You make it out of cardboard boxes, all kinds of newspapers, all the mail from the post, etc. Anything paper or cardboard is a fantastic organic compost. Any kind of paper we get I run it though a micro paper shredder and in the compost it goes. Super great for houseplants and for seed starting. All foods that come in boxes, papers, etc from the market, I tear it up, shred it, etc. and compost it all. Paper compost is a little more FINE in texture than the vegetation compost. [3] If the Compost Bins start to get a bit on the smelly side, just sprinkle some sawdust in there and mix it in. You can usually get it free from woodworking /Carpentry shops or Job sites. [4] Recycling/Upcycling all products is a good thing. Anything that can be reused is a great thing to do for the environment. I've made many things out of Pallets. Benches, tables, and plant stands, and even a garden shed out in one of the fields to keep buckets, shovels, and other tools. It has a Water cooler of fresh spring water to drink if our bottles run empty. [5] In my 3 fields I also grow Barley, Hops, and Rye for the smaller micro-breweries. The rest of the fields are just Vegetables, fruits and nuts. It is a great thing to participate in such a POSITIVE appreciation for the Environment while feeding and developing sustainability. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any farmer/gardening questions. I've been on a farm my entire life and enjoy it so much. THANK YOU again for the video. Can't wait for the next one.
Recently discovered your channel and binge watched everything. Fantastic stuff! Watching your videos makes me wanna go out there and try new things myself!
I just set up my new compost this evening! A new rotating compost, so that I can build up my normal one and just let it sit and decompose!! Next step is to tidy up and start using my old two bay system for garden waste again!
Yay! We just made a three bin compost out of pallets too. I captured it all on our security camera, although I had to wade through a lot of videos featuring squirrels to find the one where the guys are actually building something. It's already cooking it's first batch of compost.
I know I made a comment on the last video that might have seemed a little judgemental.. I want to say that you are doing an amazing job and are an inspiration to many who watch your channel including me! Thank you for putting your information out there for us to learn from.
Great job Alex. Having a compost pile is a great way to recicle nutricions from waste to grow things. I really apreciate you made a video about this. I do have similiar setup in my garden and it works just gerat. Only thing i did different is screewing all the walls that I wont be moving together leaving wired entrance only. It gives a better stability to overall of construction. Puting a cardbord into a pile also will give earthworms quite a load of celulosis that they will use for cocoons while reproducing so this is also very beneficial. Great job mate!!!
Alex's videos are an honest and refreshing watch, he wasnt sure what a crowbar was, but im certain he knows tonnes more stuff than me, keep up the great work.
Ahh Alex you are fantastic. I love your childlike enthusiasm with everything you do and the way you explain how it works. I have watched so many of your videos now and feel confident to give some of them a go. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼🙌
I love watching your videos while making my game and coming up with ideas and making art, your videos are so lovely and relaxing and I am considering getting into beekeeping because of you.
Good job done recycling the pallets. Perfect colour to blend in with background. Alex you can also put a piece of carpet on top, useful during winter to keep the heat, not man-made fibre though. Some carpet shops throw off cuts out. Good luck with the Bees.
They must be the most attractive compost bins I’ve ever seen. Also look into Hot Bin Composting where you can make compost in only 8 weeks and you can even add cooked kitchen waste.
I love that, you are so young, doing a great thing. I started gardening only several years ago, however u have a great head start! While researching (while I already started), I went down the rabbit hole of composting, it’s amazing. I have bokashi, vermicast, and tumblers. But the best heat composter is Charles Dowding, u should visit him, he’s the compost king. I love what you’re doing, the bees, the gardening, the cooking, it’s skills that are lost on current youth, you’re doing a great job! I look forward to watching u grow! 🤩 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I have had an allotment for just over a year now and used recycled plastic pallets for the compost bin love you videos been watching since you were both kids and using the train an busses to go fishing.
Thanks for sharing these delightful videos. I build my first compost heap out of pallets as well last weekend and look forward to utilizing this plant food over the coming years:)
I'm a new subscriber. I fell asleep with youtube on and woke up to your 3hr European road trip. I was extremely impressed and subscribed. I've watched your beekeeping and gardening videos as well. You're an amazing young man and I look forward to more of your content. Be well 🙂
Hooray 🎉your back… Great video once again Alex… your content and presentation is so relaxing to watch… makes you chuckle too.. can’t wait for the next one.. keep em coming 👍🏻
Super as usual, Alex. I wouldn’t have broken the pallets down myself though… just used as-is with the larger openings facing inwards where you could wedge the cardboard. ❤
hey Alex nice video! a little tip for painting is that you pour the paint from the bucket in an other sort of disposable or washable container and dip your paint brush in there to paint instead of dipping it in the paint bucket itself. this will prevent from filth getting into the paint and it will extend the usability of the paint. greets ;)
Well done Alex you did a really wonderful job.. it is really nice.. your so amazing what you do bless you...I was in my garden and a big stone fell on my foot and it is very black now so I don't know what I have done but I am just resting it for now... but Alex I don't mind because I am on my sofa relaxing watching you and your learning me but do
Alex, You should treat your dad and surprise him with a bigger greenhouse for his Orchids, after all he was good enough to let you use a good chunk of his garden for your projects. I love watching your videos especially the bees films. Carry on the good work.
Bro your videos are so different from all other videos on this Plattform its just amazing you are an amazing person and a great Idol so keep it up brah🔱
I have scrapped my compost container all together. Instead I have switched to putting the compost material directly on the soil. This also helps to surpress the groth of weeds.
Hi Alex i have some tipps for your garden You should use the crop rotation method becouse its the best for your plants You dont have to change the ground every year just trow in some compost and mix it up And also for the compost you can trow in dirt in the composter and mix it up every once in a while And you can put Crushed eggshells/gravel/woodchip or mulch around the planters becouse slugs don’t like travelling over rough ground, so if they sense sharp edges, you can use this texture to deter them. I dont know if you already knew these but i wanted to give some tipps that might help you Also great work with the compost bin Keep up the amazing work!!
Just Alex is a channel where you can’t go wrong. The fact that he tries really really cool stuff while not being an expert is why he is a very bingable channel for me to watch. Truly quality over quantity.
Ha ha ha ha. 🤣 I could've done with your dad's crowbar over the last couple of days as I was trying to make a compost bin on my allotment out of six of the very strong palates the manure and stuff gets delivered to the trading shed on. Like your reject palate and then some. If I tried breaking them up with a claw hammer the wood splintered, using a normal saw was hopeless because of the nails, and even using a small reciprocating saw took ages and was absurdly exhausting. !!!!! I'm interested to see that it took someone far younger and fitter than me, armed with the correct sort of crowbar, hours and hours to break up 7? palates, and that you looked really knackered afterwards. It's not just me being feeble! 😁 Maybe I'll buy myself a crowbar. I will check the pallets to see what markings they've got on them. That bit was very useful indeed. Thanks! 🤗
I did a similar build but without all of the preliminary deconstruction work; I used the whole pallets. Works fine but is a bit bulkier, and the piece acting as a gate is heavier.
Great thing to do, make compost heaps, bins. Earth worms do an amazing job at eating scraps and the their poop (worm castings) is some of the best soil amendment and fertilizer. You can also make worm casting tea (not for the queen) not for humans but for plants. Good videos, you are a smart young man. Good to see your projects. I first watched when you worked with the bees and collected some honey. Awesome.
I used to have a transport business. We only ever used some of the pallets that came in to us to send stuff back out on. We had a ‘pallet man’ that would come around and collect them and pay us 50p per pallet, he then sold them for £3-£5 to other customers.
Hi Alex, I am from Guyana 🇬🇾 and I really enjoy looking at your videos ❤. By the way I am also a farmer 👨🌾. Keep on doing what you love and enjoy, and keep growing more .
Very informative Alex. I was going to make a bird table out of pallets, I'll now research the stamping as I don't want the bird food being contaminated 👍

Bro your videos are so different from all other videos on this Plattform its just amazing you are an amazing person and a great Idol so keep it up brah🔱
I love your videos so much, I binge watch almost all of your videos at least once a month! Inspirational! ❤❤
Another great video Alex! If you intend to use pallets again you should invest I a pallet buster. A tool designed to dismantle pallets 👌
I have scrapped my compost container all together.
Instead I have switched to putting the compost material directly on the soil.
This also helps to surpress the groth of weeds.
Hi Alex i have some tipps for your garden
You should use the crop rotation method becouse its the best for your plants
You dont have to change the ground every year just trow in some compost and mix it up
And also for the compost you can trow in dirt in the composter and mix it up every once in a while
And you can put Crushed eggshells/gravel/woodchip or mulch around the planters becouse slugs don’t like travelling over rough ground, so if they sense sharp edges, you can use this texture to deter them.
I dont know if you already knew these but i wanted to give some tipps that might help you
Also great work with the compost bin
Keep up the amazing work!!
Thanks Alex, I really enjoyed that. Love your gardening videos.
Thanks!
Great Video! You do have a lot to be proud of.
Just Alex is a channel where you can’t go wrong. The fact that he tries really really cool stuff while not being an expert is why he is a very bingable channel for me to watch. Truly quality over quantity.
Glad you enjoy the videos! :)
Hey Alex, absolutely love your ids and what you've done so far. Idk if you already do but maybe try journaling what you've done and will do next?
Great job of the compost bins Alex keep the good vlogs coming 😅
Thanks! 🤗
You could use the walls of the compost heap to support climbing plants
never knew i needed it but now i wanted to make my own
I did a similar build but without all of the preliminary deconstruction work; I used the whole pallets.
Works fine but is a bit bulkier, and the piece acting as a gate is heavier.
Love all your videos, esp the cabins. Here in California, we add worms to hasten the composting.
Great to see you back recording. The pallets turned out to be insync with your Dad's wishes. Happy Gardening!
Awesome.
So glad I found your channel sometimes you despair over the content on you tube and then other times you find gem channels like yours 🎉😊
Glad you enjoy it!
Nice! I need to this for my own garden
