We saw them in person when they came to Houston. The Honors Accordion Retreat even had a workshop with the director and we got to perform prior to their concert. They were fantastic!!!!

and the fact that the music is totally memorized, which is rare for an orchestra (but not necessarily for some keyboardists).

The fact that that's no music or music stands suddenly made me realize this is faked, in that they recorded the music previously. There's not a single microphone or direct line showing anywhere, not even overhead mics. Someone had a lot of time and $$ to pre-record all this, and then stage it & shoot it with multicameras. Then there's the editing in post. Nice job, if you're into accordions, I guess. ;-)

@@joehannigan9788 What an ignorant comment. Shows your level of intelligence. Watch their fingers, watch the bellows. Everything is is sync and no amount of faking could match this. The bottom line here is, you do not like accordions, so i fail to see why you put yourself through the agony of watching.

@@EezeeListen Listen, Mr. or Ms. Listen..... I'm not saying they didn't PLAY this originally, I'm saying they didn't play live it in front of the cameras as you see it here, it's recorded too well (albeit previously). I think I know a thing or two about recording large ensembles, and you simply can't get sound this good without MICROPHONES showing somewhere, buddy. You can't cheat physics.
I do LIKE the sound, but again, it just didn't happen this way. Pardon me for catching that old-school homage to the Ed Sullivan Show, or any 60's era TV show. NOBODY played "live" in those days either, they all played to their recordings, sometimes doing only just the vocals live. And it's perfectly fine to do so, they're welcome to put their product out any way they like. And yes, Of COURSE they're in sync; if they're the same musicians who recorded it (perhaps a day or two prior to the live shoot), they probably know the pieces inside and out. They also no doubt "Played" along with the guide track, makes it all the more realistic. "Sync'ing" is done all the time in dialogue for moves and TV shows; no reason the same thing can't happen here.
Personally, I'm not wild about accordions (although I AM a keyboard player) but I can certainly look at something objectively and make a comment based on my professional experience.
Sorry if that hurts your squeeze-box sized sensibilities!

The band is wonderful but they play way too fast. The composer marked the tempo "presto" which is about 170/175 beats per minute, certainly not 200 bpm the way you play. It is too fast and so is "I Like to be in America" from your West Side Story potpuri. What's the rush, it's MUSIC!

      I Suppose... I have. I must say that I like 0:35 and 1:25 [as well as ~4:00].
It seems nobody has commented since I was here last year, which is a shame. I remember searching for the answer to this question last year, but found nothing: the first part, does it have it's own... song name? Or is it simply a part of the piece?

Probably. It's a well-known music piece. It was even used on one Russian TV show dedicated to USA.
