    At 9:27, no, the "aiming hole" is for our 6/0 hooks, the slot behind is for a rattle

      Mr Gilbey can you please get savage gear to make more mackerel pattern hard lures? Something suitable for surf would be 👌

    Thanks for that, I've just ordered a box. When I first saw them marketed I thought I definitely don't need more soft plastics, but then saw a few features I liked the look of, and on a day when the wind stops fishing the next best thing is buying lures. I'll be painting the eyes if I can find something to stick, or 'rivet' holo eyes on with black mono.

      I have caught on the pulse tail but only small fish so far. The action on all these lures is spot on. I particularly like the needlestick lure on a relatively fast retrieve with the spin stop. It's tail wiggles from side to side and then it glides of to the right or left as it sinks slowly.

    Have you caught on these since this video? It's very informative indeed and I throughly enjoyed it but there's still a bit of doubt in my mind.

      I have had a couple but not Bass fished much. My mate uses them all the time and catches plenty. You can buy smaller packets now to try them

    Hey. On Henry's videos and the official blurb it says the tail slot is for the weight and the belly slot for the rattle. Do you think this will have any effect on the presentation or action of the lure?
    Is there any benefit of using the belly slot for the weight instead?

    • @TheConstantAngler
      @TheConstantAngler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely. The weight in the tail will aid casting but the weight in the belly slot will give more of a level sink on the pause. I see what they are doing as putting the rattle in the belly avoids Wrasse nipping the tails off as they love to do. The truth is you can push weights in where you want to effect the lures action and give more distance. This really comes into its own when weighting Senko type lures and swinging them in the current. The more weight the further you can cast and the deeper the lure will hold etc

  • @12345KNB
    @12345KNB 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks like a great box, really smart lures. Would you use any other weights on these or just the weights supplied?

    • @TheConstantAngler
      @TheConstantAngler  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kevin Benton you could use other nail weights or cut bits off an actual nail to save money. Obviously the tungsten is more dense than lead.

    • @12345KNB

      @@TheConstantAngler OK thanks. Would you use a bullet weight on the front of the lure too?

    • @TheConstantAngler
      @TheConstantAngler  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could on the pulse tail and paddle tail but you will loose some action. You could use heavier weighted swim bait hooks or wrap solder wire around the hook yourself. Something like 2mm solder wire.

    • @TheConstantAngler
      @TheConstantAngler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lots of Bass have been caught on them including doubles. Not heard of much being caught on the needlefish but both the paddle tail and pulse tail catch. I have been obsessed with other things but have caught small Bass on both

    Cant catch bass in croatia even if u pull up a gun on the fish's head. Nowdays everyone calls me a "gear collector", its ur fault

      Ofc, it is not entirely yours fault, but im watching all of you brits for the last 2 years. Buying all these expensive lures and trying all these systems, resulting in zero fish caught. Here in croatia, we are not philosophers, we catch seabass on a very simple technique.
      Leader: 10m, 0.21-0.24 invisiline fluorocarbon.
      Lures: rapala maxrap, rapala ripstop, yozuri crystal minnow, yozuri pins minnow.
      Trolling: speeds 1.5-2.5 mph and changing 3 diff weights to search all the deapths.
      Rod: irrelevant
      Reel: irrelevant
      We use the hand instead of rod and reel, occasionally jerking the line to animate the lure. Look, i even tried to imitate a minnow in a current throwing a small silicone lure that i didnt even had to move and it still didnt get hit. I have no idea why is that so. Maybe our seabass are different due to much warmer sea, i just dont know what to do with all of this gear haha

      @@i1bike love it. They are a pain here to. If the spot is not a spot they would normally feed at they will swim right past the lure. They also get fixated on different food at times. Those lures your using are lures I would use. It’s a bit like my wrasse fishing. I can throw lures that catch wrasse and have no bites, think the fish aren’t there but switch to one of my banker lures and I’m catching every cast? The Savage gear lures have caught me a few fish, but I haven’t been Bass fishing as much as I want due to shoulder injuries. If your like me, deep down you know you don’t need all that gear but can’t help buying it? I’m normally fishing Soft Plastics in weedy areas or bouncing them down tide in an estuary, but my favourite Bass lure is a silver Toby lure. If it’s weedy I switch out the treble for an EWG hook with a small curly tail grub in it. Good luck mate.

      We have few types of wrass-like fish but they dont go over 10cm. We also have few type of grouper-like fish but they also dont go over 10cm. We do have a lot of silver breams and red breams, but they feed on worms, snails, crabs, shells and cuttlefish. Man, when i see that you guys go spinning and get small 20dkg seabass on a 15cm jerkbait, im like, come on, will this ever happen to me in croatia haha. I did not have that feeling before, that pushed me to constantly buy gear. I fished 20 years, and never bought anything but line and hooks. But since spinning exploded on youtube i started buying gear. Rcently i was putting interest in savage gear seeker, because channels 'angling addict 75' and 'saltwater lure fishing' got me pumped. I even contacted them and they convinced me to buy it haha. I was like, its a lure that i only need to jig, straight retrieve and let it flutter. Its the most simple lure, and noone can blame it on my spinning unskill. So, i took 2 colors and 3 sizes, and guess what did i caught haha. One big fat nothing haha. Then i said ok, lets buy something even more basic. So i went on the web page that sells lures only for fishing seabass. I got it from the channels 'saltwater angler' and 'bass masters elite'. I also wrote to them earlier. They are all amazing people, same like you, very honest and helpful. So, i read pretty much everything and came across the most basic topwater lure, the lure is named - mechanical lures autowalker. Still cant decide wether to buy it. Im not smart nor am i credibile person to decide for myself anymore haha

    • @TheConstantAngler
      @TheConstantAngler  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@i1bike keep at it mate. Not used the auto Walker but the other lures do work. Try some different marks. If they are there you will catch and then you will probably catch regularly. Creatures of habit. They will be there Year after year on same tides, conditions.
