They’re ruining characters and discarding all things that happened in the original shows. I mean with a show like this I’m sure it hard to keep everything exactly right to the Tee, I’m sure they didn’t really have much direction or knowledge for that matter with what technology would be like and they had to change the show and storylines accordingly you know. I think people should still have respect for the original shows.
When shopping for a brain, don't just pick the first one you see, no matter how good it looks at first. Look at lots of others, and if you still like the first one you can always go back.

One of the "go-to" plot devices for hurried writers seemed to be beautiful women, alien or otherwise, who were featured over and over again. Jan Shutan, Lee Meriwether, Kate Woodville, Sharon Acker, Kathie Browne, Marj Dusay, and others all were featured that last year of production.
It's interesting how in this scene, alien women are not that different from human women. The alien women has make-up, her hair is perfectly combed and permed and,when she puts her hands on Spocks head, her nails are perfectly manicured.

Ion propulsion? Pretty low tech there Scotty. Pretty sure the Enterprise's impulse engines are beyond ion propulsion used by 21st century satellites and probes like Voyager I & II.
"Ion Propulsion" funny---more efficient than a "rocket engine" but no way as "efficient" as matter/antimatter engine---question: IF a "civilization" has the cap for space travel within their solar system, why just remain below the surface of their home world? They would colonize the other moons and planets within their system, at least!
Interestingly, in one of Nimoy's books, he really dislikes this episode, saying that, like many of the third season episodes, it was very cheesy and simply ridiculous.
I don't blame him in the least. When you're a talented actor like he was in his lifetime, to be saddled with tripe like 'Spock's Brain' is a big letdown.
They had ion propulsion. As Scotty said, "They could teach us a thing or two!" Who knows. Brain removal to them might have been as easy as brushing your teeth.
This sad thing is I will gladly take this episode over just about any filler TNG episode. There is no comparison with the worst of TNG either. At least Kirk or Spock didn't get lucky with the deadly gas creature like a certain Doctor did on the Enterprise-D.
This is not a good episode.....but imo it is not the worst. Plato's Stepchildren is the worst. Kirk riding around on a midget's back while making horse noises!?!? Even if I watched that one stoned out of my mind......I would still be lucid enough to know that it sucks!

I don't know why this is so often listed in the "worst of" category. It's one of my top picks. Great story, great ending when he begins to talk again.

That shot at 1:25 is the only time we saw the bridge from that angle. It shows how small it really was.

Currently reading The Fifty Year Mission. Lots of amazing insights. For my money it's a must-read for every Star Trek and sci-fi aficionado.
Season 3 was hit and miss. With that being said it also had some wonderful episodes. My favorite from Season 3 is The Tholian Web
