HOW GOOD IS THAT EPISSODE..!!?? In the closing shots with the camera angle panning back fixed on the glaacier, then Uma charging left to right across the screen as the music builds, it got quite emotional..!!! Seriously good cinematography and editing. What a great team you three are. Dan, Kik, Uma. Thank you for your inspiration and sharing your journey with us. Blessings Grant
Fully agree. And at 17:24 when Uma reappears from behind the iceberg, Dan standing at the helm, you can feel how small Uma really is for this grand voyage in such a place. Totally awesome !
The final scenes there... the sweeping panorama, UMA heeled over, the sails full, little Kika at the helm, her ponytail in the breeze, the epic soundtrack... beautiful film making. Top of your game! Thank you.
Again, congratulations, i was at your meet up in Bergen in August last year. You where going to north of Norway in the autumn, and going in an electric sailboat to Svalbard this year. To me, that was not normal. You had really done some good planning. In my opinion, this has been, and now is the best sailboat video production, channel, on youtube. At next meet up i will bring or send you some kweik yeast. From Voss, to produce your own beer on Uma. You are now in my opinion, Norwegian vikings. Cheers, fair winds and stay safe.
Incredible achievement to take a boat without diesel backup, to a place where electrical power is hard to get and to go so far north. Electric powered sailboats are the future. You’ve proved it can be done and others will follow, but you did it first. Amazing!
What an honor to be taken to a place that I'll most likely never see myself, and will most likely never exist in the same way as it does now in many, many generations of humans' lifetimes. Thank you.
Bravo Kika and and Dan. I came back to watch this epic part of your journey. I will always remember this as an inspiration. A small electric boat, two smart strong self taught sailors making a film, sharing it with us. Part art, part adventure, part love story. Thank you for making these films
Incredible video from start to finish. But it was the shots of Uma slicing thru the water, healed over on her side with the awesome music that really got me. Great job guys
Inspirational! We have sooo loved this season and you both make sailing extreme latitudes look damn good. I would have cried leaving too! The amount of planning, preparing, exploring, capturing...it's exhausting and exhilarating just thinking about it. KUDOS!
I’ve seen productions with multi million dollar budgets and gear and teams of people that aren't able to capture the beauty and essence the way you two have. Thank you.
Inspiring, high risk, emotional, romantic, national geographic, cinematic otherworld, and all from a Guinness book of world records one of a kind electric sailboat!!
Everyone else is saying the same thing, your editing is absolutely first-class and this is no longer "just" another sailing channel. This is serious film making of the highest order. I am ashamed to say I have not watched all that many episodes in the last couple of months or so, which is my loss. It's just that I was born and raised, and lived most of my life, in the tropics, in various Pacific locations, South East Asia and northern Australia. So I have kind of an inborn aversion to snow and ice, you might say, and there certainly is a lot of that in your Arctic adventures! It began to make me want to sit in my own backyard and admire my banana trees, paw paw trees and jacarandas, but now I feel I need to go back and watch all the Uma episodes I missed. I can always buy myself a warm sweater if I get cold...
Don't despair Kika. You gave this episode the justice it so deserves. This is the episode that will get you a job with Disney studios when you want it.
Totally grounded…they said!! It won’t flip over…he assured her! We’re safe…they thought! < < < Enormous Iceberg does a giant backflip just a few feet away… < < < You were saying…??? Groans the iceberg with a sneaky iceberg grin! 🌊 That was so freaking CRAZY…SCARY…AWESOME!!! Thanks for showing us the epic beauty, the raw power, the unpredictability and the true awesomeness of this place! BRAVO!!
"I am sad". "I am lonely". Good. The two statements suit the setting, all alone with a glacier, as far north as you could go. You aced it. Thank you for keeping it real. Thank you for sharing and being creative while keeping safe. Appreciation from Canada.
How do you do this guys? How do you manage to create an episode that tops the last? Like almost every episode just wows you. Well done yet again, incredible.
Poignant! This series has been very impressive. You two embarked on a voyage that was dangerous but so very beautiful. Polar Bears and seals. Having to carry a high powered rifle. My brain is jumping around trying to express my awe at what you two have accomplished. So I can’t imagine the powerful emotions the two of you have as you round out this trip. All the initial planning for this must be unimaginable for most all of us watching your expedition. I keep wanting to express my total appreciation but feel my words and thoughts keep coming up short. So please know that what I have expressed is a mere fraction of my true appreciation for the quality of work put into this endeavor. So, a huge thank you !!!!
Absolutely stunning. I have tears. Although a dream of mine, I’m quite certain at my age and health that I will never make it there. Thank you so much for working so hard to help me experience it with you as best you can.
You made a GOOD decision! "We're so exhausted..." "This is probably the most dangerous anchorage we've stayed in..." Yes? You were saying? In sailing, aviation, and similar endeavors, the lack of sleep is proportional to the propensity for incidents and accidents. Always err on the side of caution. Terrific place for a relatively short visit, provided you can maintain being well-rested. I have Scandinavian blood running through my veins and have THOROUGHLY enjoyed this past year's excursions throughout the cold North! I love winter, cold, wet, and snow! I can't thank you enough for capturing these incredibly wonderful shots and bring them home to all your viewers. Kudos! Now, be safe, stock up, and begin the journey to warmer waters! Safe travels, and always watching.
Don't ever doubt your abilities as film makers. I watch a lot of these channels and most are ok but lose my interest either because they get too technical about the little things and miss the artistic side, or the people themselves just aren't that interesting. I always look forward to checking in with UMA because you bring us the most interesting content, whether it's boat repairs, or exploring new places. You have a great eye for cinematography and your drone footage is awesome. Not to mention the editing. I have seen feature films ruined by bad editing and bad directing. Plus, you two are really cool, funny, charming, and easy on the eyes. You have never failed to entertain me and I look forward to living vicariously through your adventures to sooth the boredom of a 9-5 life style. Keep it up. PLEASE.
I can imagine how satisfying it is to have an electric motor. The relative quiet when there isn't any favorable wind is so much more palatable than the rumbling noise of an iron genny! I'm in complete awe of your gutsy adventures. Absolutely beautiful to watch.
As a professional photographer and artist - those shots really took my breath away - pure genius. Nicely done. Major Kudos on the ending. YOU REALLY GOT ME!!!
I particularly loved at 21:46 how Kika's hair is flying out behind her. Sort of a Titanic spectacle, but with competence and storytelling, logistics and cinematography, sailing and navigating, survival skills and more than a touch of emotion fleshing out the scene.
Never make light of what you've accomplished with a little Pearson 36 that you poured your souls into. UMA under sail barreling out the fjord is a scene that will live in TH-cam Sailing channel history. A bit emotional to watch following this journey for 5 years and so I will revisit this video in the future to admire what two young architects did. You don't need a big boat to have big adventures. #dontbuyacouch
You have brought a whole different perspective to life. You have brought together sailing, travel, technology, videography, and most important two people seeing the world with a unique perspective as you truly explore the wonders of our world! Thank you!
What you have manifested with this part of your adventure is an epic achievement. You have not only accomplished something personal to yourselves, but you have been able to have a most powerful impact on your viewers. It is quite spiritual at different levels. Thank you.
Thanks for the reminder that it's just you two doing all of filming, editing, location scouting, etc. I honestly forget due to just how dynamic your videos are.
I've compared your season 13 with The Delos Crew expedition north 80° and I love yours more ❤. I paid $$ to see theirs so I will be topping that amount for watching yours . Thanks again !
and I thought that shots of Uma sailing in Caribbean were beautiful... my god the last minute of this video was breathtaking, amazing, indescribable... fantastic job both of You, we are so lucky to be able to watch Your adventures... nobody is better in putting them together in video than You are :o) thank You from the bottom of my heart :o)
Your voyage that far north in an electric powered sailboat should go down in history. Great exploration! You two have joined the ranks of Lyn and Larry Pardey.
Both of you are the modern “Lin and Larry Pardey”. Just like them you are true sailors with proven experience and the pictures to prove you’ve done it. Just like them, your experiences will be shared with sailors across the globe, sitting on the edge of their chairs, appreciating your journeys. Congratulations on your expertise in filming, producing and sharing your sailing life that provides internal emotions for the viewer. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
The drone shots of the interior of the glacier. So moving. I felt transported in time, felt yearning for time to slow down. Much like for us with weather, You realize you both have captured a moment in time in nature that will never be recreated? Outstanding work and storytelling. Simply beautiful!
Thank you for taking us along on your voyage. With TH-cam, people will be watching your videos for generations to come. The great exploration of Dan and Kika on S/V Uma
Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking scenery! Your emotional response just shows how much that place impacted you. We are all blessed that you both choose to share your experiences with us - living vicariously through you both is quite wonderful. That ending and the music.....!!! Magical God bless and keep you both!
Dan and Kika, you two are architects by trade and I'm confident that you are exceptional at it but, you both, are so much more. You guys are badass adventurers, epic cinematographers, sometimes poetic storytellers and always, always, an inspiration! I sincerely hope that you continue to share those gifts, with the world, for many years to come--Jessica from Florida 🌞
Wow! What a video! That iceberg was crazy - grounded and still flipped so much bigger than it looked too! It must have been so demanding being up there with the worries of the ice, filming, all the other stuff going on. Thank you so much for doing such an amazing job at capturing it! Uma and the glacier looked fantastic in the shots from the dinghy and the drone! You really did it justice Kika! (Good to see where the ice came from too!)
Kika - "I don't have to worry about them flipping over." OMG THAT WAS CLOSE! Beautiful shots Kika and an EPIC ending scene of Uma! I liked the box effect and the music...classic! Uma looked so majestic showing herself off at the steep angle sail. AWESOME! I've watched that scene a dozen times...made me cry. So cool. You've turned your sad stranded lady into a beautiful sea flying Angel. An AMAZING way to end this adventure.
Wow. I'm brimming with admiration, knocked out by the sheer beauty and soooo glad I can share a little of your adventure. Well done. For the record, both of you have been 'doing it justice' for years. Thank you so much. John
Been watching you through the Caribbean, passing through my home waters in the UK and heading North. Just wanted to say congrats and thanks, I can't think of another sailing couple who could've done this justice. Bravo.
What a great episode! You guys are really hitting the right bells with your camera angles and techniques. You are a great inspiration to our camerawork.
I want to say thank-you from deep in my heart for making all these wonderful, high-quality videos of my home country Norway! Your work is probably the best "Norway commercial" I have ever seen! Your positive attitude, love for nature and love of all other people is a true inspiration! I wish you both a happy Christmas and a wonderful new year of 2022! Greetings from a Norwegian living abroad
At first glance the scenery is beautiful and peacefull. Then slowly the place fills with life and is an incredible show of the power of nature. Uma is at the edge of what is possible for a sailboat. Your rendrering of that moment is close to perfection. Now that your sailboat has come out of the ice, what about a title : "calving uma", or "uma on the rocks" ?
Kika and Dan that was an amazing video. You guys and Uma look so cool with the glacier in the back ground! Keep sailing, Keep inspiring, you're killin it!
This channel has become truly special since you started to go where so few do and put together videos as good as this. The sequences of Uma among the ice towards the end are quite simply breathtaking!
Beautiful is such a simple word, yet no other word adequately describes the scenes and scenery shown in this video except, beautiful. There shot where Dan has his back to the camera and Uma is pointed at the glacier, the colors tease; they are lime green, red, black, white, blue and gray. Beautiful!
I felt like I just watched an award winning documentary - you two have taken your film making to another level - by the way thanks for the lessons. Friggin Awesome
I’m a sailor and a Canadian, and the concept of sailing in an area like this is crazy to me. Not many people are brave enough to take this adventure but you guys are doing amazing. Very cool, loved this episode ❤️😍
This is by far the best “series” I’ve ever seen & they just keep getting better with each video. It’s stressful being at the top of your game 24/7, even if nothing dangerous happens....... it’s the possibility, with rescue possibly hours or even days away. With that being said, Thank you for ALL you both do!🥰
Absolutely spectacular photography and presentation. I am totally thrilled with your sharing of your wonderful adventures and your skills and ingenuity. Thank you!!
Who needs a film crew when you produce such beautiful and stylish content as we have been privileged to watch, demonstrating the care and effort you guys put into getting those shots. Never be in any doubt that you have done this magnificent place true justice. Keep up the brilliant work and stay safe!
Wow once again the cinematography is amazing! Kika image of Uma sailing by the glacier and ice in front is an award winning image. literally/actually brought tears to my eyes.
Yes, tears in my eyes too. So many superlatives, and that awesome finish. A growing realisation that I have just seen something profoundly special. Very grateful.
There is a magnificent tension in this video - the drama and beauty of the place creates intense emotion. The sound of the living glacier is a powerful reminder of how fragile we are. Brava UMA!
There are no appropriate words I can come up with to describe this episode. Definitely among one of the top video series. The personal human interaction. The scenery shots (overhead aerial drone shots of the glacier) and best of all Uma in all her majesty, leaning against the wind, sails full, pushing through the water. Again, great drone shots. Well done & once again. A big thx for sharing this adventure!
That was a nice episode. Thanks for sharing your feelings there at the end. Watching the glacier footage I found myself tearing up as well. Maybe it's because Mother Earth is doing her thing and we're allowed to watch. That was cool. Definitely the most "intimate" I've ever gotten with a glacier. Thanks.
Such incredible cinematography. You both have such an incredible eye for shots (and editing) and your episodes just sing of story and detail and imagery. So privileged to watch. Thank you!
That is intense! So close to the ice, the air filled with these crackling and banging noises! Wonderful!! To me, it became scary when Kika attacked the second growler @7:16. It was almost 2 m high, and 6/7 = 85% of it was under water. One source said, peaking icebergs may hide 5x their height in the water. Imagine such "unknown" reacting to their blows, and react it did, 7:56. Happy to see you with the rest of this harvest in the MR.
The two of you have been on such an awesome journey and the filming...... National Geographic might be calling you for some footage! When you first started this voyage i pointed out that you might want to have gone south but seeing what your plan was and to have it unfold, you definitely must be congratulated. So, cheers :)
I watched this episode 2x epic everything! You brought us to a world most of us will never experience and filmed it brilliantly! I was mesmerised, felt like I was their myself. Thank you Kika and Dan!
This has got to be a very emotional trip would have been for me too if it had been me, if someone had asked you would you have it any other way? Probably not. Marvelous editing for a once-in-a-lifetime trip, congratulations! That's what life can be about.
Thank you for your inspiration and sharing your journey with us.

i was going to leave a comment but you nailed it. 100%
Art 🤍
Same @Grant - excellent comment on a superb episode!
Fully agree.
And at 17:24 when Uma reappears from behind the iceberg, Dan standing at the helm, you can feel how small Uma really is
for this grand voyage in such a place. Totally awesome !
😎👍🍻
Please don't make short of what you've done. This is one of the best channels on the net. I have LOVED every week.
this series deserves to win the highest awards, beautiful in every way and so
fun to watch

You are now in my opinion, Norwegian vikings.
Cheers, fair winds and stay safe.
The shots sailing out of the bay were just gorgeous. Such raw beauty of the landscape and the powerful beauty of a sailboat under sail.
Uma. All my other sailing channels are tropics and bikinis, and I adore them, but Uma is hands above. You guys are so brave and adventurous!
Incredible achievement to take a boat without diesel backup, to a place where electrical power is hard to get and to go so far north.
Electric powered sailboats are the future. You’ve proved it can be done and others will follow, but you did it first. Amazing!

Thank you.
Ditto
Inspiring, high risk, emotional, romantic, national geographic, cinematic otherworld, and all from a Guinness book of world records one of a kind electric sailboat!!
Beautifully done, this is epic. Congrats on a ridiculously huge accomplishment!

Cute! :)
The two of you have a lifetime of stories & videos to share with the world. Sailing Uma is by far my favourite TH-cam channel. 💕❤️. Thank you.
Don't despair Kika.
You gave this episode the justice it so deserves.
This is the episode that will get you a job with Disney studios when you want it.
"It is not going to flip over"... then the ice berg flips over.... Brrilliant.
😂right!?... I think the berg heard me and was like "oh yea? watch this"
hold my beer..
🤣😂
Totally grounded…they said!!

Beautiful comment
How do you do this guys? How do you manage to create an episode that tops the last? Like almost every episode just wows you. Well done yet again, incredible.
Exactly.
What an amazing step! Your journey from the boatyards of Florida to the Artic has been amazing! 😍 Thank you for bringing us along!!
Thank you. All I can say is WOW !!!!!! I am envious
Absolutely stunning. I have tears. Although a dream of mine, I’m quite certain at my age and health that I will never make it there. Thank you so much for working so hard to help me experience it with you as best you can.
To: john aremtrout . .
Agreed. . .same here.
The best sailing channel on TH-cam.
Period.
Just amazing in cinematic quality and content. Another masterpiece.
Agreed, towards the end with the light coming through the glacier. gorgeous!

I totally agree with everything you said! These two Rock!!
Ameen. Ameen.
They are architects, they have studied the shape of things. They are not regular people.
Just be sure to note that they are not filming at that latitude in December. This is very much pre pre pre recorded... by months.
I can imagine how satisfying it is to have an electric motor. The relative quiet when there isn't any favorable wind is so much more palatable than the rumbling noise of an iron genny!

The quality of your storytelling and cinematography gets better with every episode. It puts National Geographic to shame!
I had the SAME thought about NatGeo while watching this episode.
Me too
National geographic sensationalizes everything. This is on much better and more realistic level.
I fully agree that👍🏻
Agreed
@ 17:28...EPIC SHOTS
Your Sound selection is PERFECTION
You have brought a whole different perspective to life. You have brought together sailing, travel, technology, videography, and most important two people seeing the world with a unique perspective as you truly explore the wonders of our world! Thank you!

Kika, those shots, both camera and drone, you have truly mastered this skill to the point you could give a master class 👍🏼well done.

For all of the sail vlogs I watch, you 2 are the only ones that REALLY SAIL, You are amazing people with a great little boat ! !
So glad to have found your Svalbard episode. Sailed there in 2007, got to 83 deg. no. Your expressions of awe bring back wonderful memories.
and I thought that shots of Uma sailing in Caribbean were beautiful... my god the last minute of this video was breathtaking, amazing, indescribable... fantastic job both of You, we are so lucky to be able to watch Your adventures... nobody is better in putting them together in video than You are :o) thank You from the bottom of my heart :o)
Your voyage that far north in an electric powered sailboat should go down in history. Great exploration! You two have joined the ranks of Lyn and Larry Pardey.
I had been thinking you were going to have a major problem. Leaving such an epic place. What an experience you've shared with us. Thank you!
Might be your best episode I’ve watched. No one doing travel on TH-cam, especially sailing, no one chronicles it as well as you two do.
For what it’s worth, you’ve done an amazing job giving us a peak into a world most of us only dream of seeing in person. Kudos!🤗
❤❤❤
Both of you are the modern “Lin and Larry Pardey”. Just like them you are true sailors with proven experience and the pictures to prove you’ve done it. You guys produce the best videos of all the sailing couples/families on TH-cam! Yours are the videos I most look forward to. Thanks!
The drone shots of the interior of the glacier. So moving. I felt transported in time, felt yearning for time to slow down. Much like for us with weather, You realize you both have captured a moment in time in nature that will never be recreated? Outstanding work and storytelling. Simply beautiful!
The outro of Uma under sail and the music with the timing of the hits!!
Amazing!!
Thank you for taking us along on your voyage. With TH-cam, people will be watching your videos for generations to come. The great exploration of Dan and Kika on S/V Uma
Oh my. Goose bumps at the end of this one. I’m feeling so much love for you guys up there sharing this the way you do.
What an amazing experience guys , so inspirational !
Perfect picture coming out from behind the floating berg. Great Kika and Dan.
What an episode full of emotion for crew and viewers.

John
If National Geographic hasn't called you by now it's their loss. Great footage!
The ending of one thing is the beginning of another. I look forwards to where your journey take us.
National Geographic quality footage guys, simply fantastic. You continue to separate yourselves from almost every sailing TH-cam channel out there.
Don't be sad. You have achieved so much. Thank you for all the beautiful films.
Been watching you through the Caribbean, passing through my home waters in the UK and heading North. Just wanted to say congrats and thanks, I can't think of another sailing couple who could've done this justice. Bravo.

"It is a challenging thing!" And yet, you're doing an absolutely terrific job!
Kika and Dan that was an amazing video. You guys and Uma look so cool with the glacier in the back ground! Keep sailing, Keep inspiring, you're killin it!
21:44 The absolute best footage you've posted. Kudos.
Beautiful!
Thanks for having the courage and the doing the hard work it takes to bring us all along on your spectacular adventures! Safe travels Uma & crew! ⛵🤍🏔️
❤⛵❤
I felt like I just watched an award winning documentary - you two have taken your film making to another level - by the way thanks for the lessons. Friggin Awesome
I’m a sailor and a Canadian, and the concept of sailing in an area like this is crazy to me. Not many people are brave enough to take this adventure but you guys are doing amazing. Very cool, loved this episode ❤️😍
I have to say this has got to be the Best of the best episodes of UMA
This is by far the best “series” I’ve ever seen & they just keep getting better with each video. It’s stressful being at the top of your game 24/7, even if nothing dangerous happens....... it’s the possibility, with rescue possibly hours or even days away. With that being said, Thank you for ALL you both do!🥰
So many great episodes lately. I think it is time you officially drop "Architect" and insert "Filmmaker".
I have tears in my eyes This was so beautiful!
thank you Noah😊
Over time you have created a number of magnificent episodes. For me this one is exceptional.
You two are so very blessed. What a life you lead! Thank you for sharing with us.
Absolutely spectacular photography and presentation. I am totally thrilled with your sharing of your wonderful adventures and your skills and ingenuity. Thank you!!
Awesome shots of Uma coming out from behind the icebergs! That was great!!! thanks for sharing your adventures up north!
Brava UMA!
This is absolutely breathtaking. The shots of the glacier... my heart!
Yes, look what the first one did when Kika had only threatened it with the ice pick !!
you guys have to have the best sailing travel channel out there. your videos really make me feel like I am there.
The two of you have been on such an awesome journey and the filming...... National Geographic might be calling you for some footage!
When you first started this voyage i pointed out that you might want to have gone south but seeing what your plan was and to have it unfold, you definitely must be congratulated. So, cheers :)
Kika, you've given it justice.
This episode will reside in eternity as another of your masterpieces .. perhaps your best..💖
I watched this episode 2x epic everything! You brought us to a world most of us will never experience and filmed it brilliantly! I was mesmerised, felt like I was their myself. Thank you Kika and Dan!
Definitely the most inspiring sailing channel on TH-cam.
This has got to be a very emotional trip would have been for me too if it had been me, if someone had asked you would you have it any other way? Probably not. Marvelous editing for a once-in-a-lifetime trip, congratulations! That's what life can be about.
