- A comprehensive (but not definitive) collection of opening and closing logos from Roadshow Home Video and Village Roadshow Australia, mainly sourced from rental VHS cassettes. Also contains some promotional reels that featured on some of their home videos, both rental and sell-thru.
There are a few Village Roadshow Television logos towards the end of this video. Note that they also did television variants for the early Roadshow Home Video logos as well, but I unfortunately do not own any of them.
I realise this video is a bit repetitive. But I wanted to show you every single variation of the logos that I had available in my collection.

Note: the television logos appeared prior to movies screened on the Nine Network in Australia. This is because Village Roadshow had an exclusive commercial arrangement with that network at the time for first run screenings of their movies.
I keep coming back to this vid. I get such chills and an overwhelming wave of nostalgia when I hear and see the original opening. Thank you so much for putting this up.
I remember this intro so vividly watching it as a kid in the 80s with the latest VHS I rented. The excitement especially with R rated movies. Great times. The Road Show theme was very melancholy.

ACTUALLY VILLAGE ROADSHOW IS STILL IN BUSINESS UNDER THE WARNER BROTHERS label .

I would go wild with joy if I was watching a Aussie movie today at the cinema and this logo somehow made it up.
5:18 Just made my spine shiver when ever that popped up when i was a little kid when my mum put in Old Mcdonalds Farm. Nostalgia man.
Now this roadshow ident brings back memories as a kid watching Mad Max. Those were the days!

The early Roadshow jingles used to scare the crap out of me as a kid! Still find them oddly menacing for video idents!

I love village roadshow I remember when they were in the USA they had some theaters in California and New York City and my home state of Pennsylvania mostly in the Pittsburgh area back in the day when I was young.
From 2:27 this logo speaks to me more since Roadshow Home Video produced the Atmosfear interactive games.

It is funny how this can take you back to your childhood so significantly. I remember this like it was yesterday and so many great previews followed....i just wish i could remember the names of some of the films!

Ahhh seeing brief Fire and Ice clip in one of the promo's brought back some cool memories. There's an awesome release of this Ralph Bakshi classic by Blue Underground. Highly recommended for Bakshi fans.
yes i remember seeing these as a kid in the 80s and being scared..esp of the horror movies that followed or things like Rambo and Lone WOlf macqaude..

The 1992-1995 Roadshow Entertainment ident appeared on some Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog tapes i bought from a charity shop.

The early 80's roadshow ident music is great, kinda eerie but the united artist early 80's ident is the sad one.

The earliest I remember is 4:58 cos I was born in 1993, that one I remember the sound to and the logo came in before the text appeared underneath and the ones from 1995 onwards the text comes in with the logo

The sound of the logo use to scare me when l was a kid.
When I was a kid, my brother and I use to watch some of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle videos and at a friends house and wish they would stop congratulating us.

Unfortunately videos other than this one of the ident from 1985 seem to have all been purged from TH-cam due to someone taking them down through the copyright system which is quite a shame!
I compiled this awesome 6 minute mad max opening scenes on HD which included the original village roadshow intro as I remembered it as a young bloke. YT pinged me, wouldn't show it and told me I now have a bad rep. Lol I'm such a bad boy. Pity about the clip though I was pretty proud of it.
Its impossible to find the original Australian Mad Max trailer online.
I have no particular reason why but as a kid, I was completely scared of the last logo.

@cameron20101000 they do use them in Some American/Australian movies such as Happy Feet (2005).

That early Village Roadshow one is /really/ scary...
Do you know where I can get the early Logo font? It's cool looking thanks. I still haven't found the old logo Font family but I do know that the 1985-Present logo uses calibri for the font family but it's only available in MICROSOFT OFFICE SUITE SOFTWARE ITSELF. And I also remember that village roadshow had some theaters in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA MOST OF THEM WERE IN CALIFORNIA BUT THERE WERE A FEW IN THE NORTHERNEAST RIEGON MY HOME STATE BEING ONE OF LUCKY ONES TO HAVE A FEW PITTSBURGH WAS ONE THE CITIES TO HAVE A LUXURY THEATER I CAN SEE WHY IT NEVER SUCCEED PRICE WAS TO HIGH EVEN FOR LATER 1980 To early 1990.
I think that the Aussie Night Trails logo is scarier than the Other V Of Doom logo. What do you think?
