      @@johnandrews3568 I started racing in 1980, right when LeMond was heading to the pro peloton in Europe, so yeah, the 80s were hot. Plus I am only 4 days older than Greg, so it was sort of a "my generation" thing too.

    To all those who say Sean couldn’t get a word in edgewise…back in the day, he was widely known as a recalcitrant rider…one who was known to answer a question during a radio interview with a nod! And from his 18 year old he also won pro races! even bigger pro races ! ! ! And now he is 1 of the 2 who the most close to pogacar. Even his fall in that ravine couldend stop him from winning more than 60 pro races on the age of 23. Do you know who ? ? Remco Evenepoel ! together with Vingegaard the 2 best challangers for pogacar.... the numbers 2 and 3 of the world.

    In terms of doping and all the haters here. You need to understand: doping leveled the playingfield not the other way around. In todays era freaks of nature stick out way more because other „medicore“ riders cannot even out their disadvantage with drugs so easily. So its totally normal, that there are outliers like pog or jonas. A talented genetic freak does not get that much better with doping it is the „medicore“ ones that become better.

    Tadej recognised his talent very early on thanks to great support, and that recognition with his hard work continues to give him the hunger to use that talent to win, everything.
    Cav's new '24 TdF stage wins record is now just a higher bar to tempt Tadej to take it, by '27 or '28?

    • @Blog4Justice
      @Blog4Justice 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Pog did promise Cav that he wouldn't break his record, but I'm sure Cav will be gracious enough to give him a pass when the time comes; it is less a matter of whether Pog will do it, but rather how soon he will do it and by how much.

    • @davidlilja9180
      @davidlilja9180 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Blog4Justice I just watched that Cav/Pog 'encounter'. By the look on Cav's face & his 'grab' of Pog's jaw, he already knows that Pog likely will. After all, Cav was hungry enough to keep trying for that record & as we all know, Pog is the hungriest of the lot. Pog didn't "promise" either, he just agreed, "I won't" & "don't worry".
      We'll just have to keep watching to find out.
      Pog only needs a few more monuments, perhaps 3 more rainbows, 2 or 3 more yellow & 1 red jersey to almost run out of challenges. Come on '25!
      Maybe someone should tell Pog that a Tour/Vuelta double, followed by a Giro/Tour double, 4 in a row hasn't been done before, to give him another challenge?
      🤔

    • @Blog4Justice
      @Blog4Justice 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@davidlilja9180 Whatever the exact form of wording, it sounded very much like a promise to me. As for the rest, I think Pog has at least five or six or prime ('21-'23 standard or better) seasons ahead. He can just keep on setting his own challenges. The next three WCs are all up for grabs, and I think he will at least double his current tally of monuments (in fact, I think he could win three next season alone). It's going to be epic!

    I think Pogi just enjoys racing- he doesn't seem to mind if it's TdF or a 1.Pro/1.1 he wants to have fun out there and race 😂 he'll even sprint against Politt to 38th place on a stage for fun. Jonas is more measured in both how he races and his 'hunger' to win, they both want to win the tour de france, and will commit to that, but Pogi also wants to beat Politt in the sprint to the line 😂 whereas Jonas I'd imagine is happy to get to the finish line safely on a flat stage and the last thing he wants to do is mess about with sprints. Pogi's said that he gets bored on 'dull' days and seems to enjoy chaotic stages while most GC riders enjoy having a less stressful day- see Giro this year where Pogi had a great time going off the front with a few k to go with Honore and Thomas, Thomas said something like 'Alright son, you’ve had your fun. Let’s just have a nice quiet day tomorrow?'
    So I think Pogi is hungrier to win in general- but Jonas if anything is more committed to putting 100% of his effort into TdF- Pogi's said he does too many stupid attacks while Jonas manages to race sensibly, fully commited to the one goal (winning tour GC).
    For all that everyone's talking about how great Pogi is this year the two previous years he's had a constant stream of 'why are you wasting your energy, you should focus more on the overall and not on racing every day' he's not changed, because that's how he races.
    Pogi would be very bored if he was racing as controlled as Ving does, and Ving would be stressed out if he was trying to race the way Pogi does. Ving is excellent at following a plan, while we know that Pogi can't even follow his own plan 😂(Adam Yates said that after one of his attacks in le tour- it was supposed to be a conservative play it safe stage but Pogi attacked).
    Pogi is pure racer, he reads the race situation and if he feels like it's a good time to attack he will, he's impulsive so can be tempted into overdoing it, but he's always reading the race situation so he tends to pick the perfect spot to attack and is rarely out of position. Ving is much more strategic, he makes the plan with the team and then follows it, he won't make stupid attacks, but he's also less able to improvise to the race situation on the road.
    It's what makes them a great duo to watch, they're both brilliant riders but very very different riders and are trying to force the race into the type of race they want.
    Pogi's compared pro racing to racing with your mates as a kid which probably helps him deal with the enormity of the races he's won, and maybe why he doesn't seem that upset for himself when he doesn't win.

    Come on Greg.... you want to say that a rider that is FASTER (a lot faster too) than Pantani, Armstrong and others is clean? Really? We know the Armstrong generation was doped with a drug that makes riders at least10-15% (and probably more than that if we knew EVERYTHING they were taking) and now we have a clean rider that made up that 10-15% and went far beyond it. That makes NO sense. I call BS. Not to mention the weight of the riders. It is hardly natural riders can sacrifice muscle and still ride so fast.

    Let me explain for anyone who doesn’t understand what Lemond is talking about…. :)
    He thinks that what they’re asking him to comment on is: whether or not Pogacar is cheating!!?? Since according to him, it was he who figured out that Lance was cheating and now he must be authority on this subject.
    He went on to explain why Pog and Jonas are not cheating… according to him they are lighter than him which is why they are doing better. He is also saying the overall level of competition is higher now. He also insinuated that if there was an “ unbelievable” performance it was Jonas comeback from injury.
    It’s really hard to watch this. I feel bad for the guy. We have to respect him but it would be nice if he just took a step back and relaxed.

      @ he is better athlete than Lance. My kid at 12 years old is a better runner than Lance at 16. Lance started using growth hormone at 14-16. You want any other details about the shitty athlete Lance Armstrong?? I know his history in detail.
      But let me get serious, Lance was a 75kg rider, Tadej is 65kg rider, and has higher VO2 max than Lance.

    Can Lemond get out a sentence clearly and why interrupt Kelly? There is a reason Lemond is not commentating on TV. Maybe the lead pellets still lodged in him are affecting his brain.

    LeMond thinks anybody who could beat him is drugged ? He chose guns over cycling ? He got fat and got... dropped !
    He's licking his chops that they find Pog dirty ?
    There's no cycling group that takes LeMond seriously? His mission was to bring down Lance Armstrong ! Cause Lance became the new American cycling hero!
    Greg went absolutely mad ! When Lance won 3 ! 4, 5, to this day Grag has never gotten over that ! You hear the excuses from him here !
    Greg is pre index shifting
    He's still trying to find his gear ? He's a quill stem in a land of carbon handlebars !

    Greg Lemond loves to talk about sports science but he spouts the same old nonsense about body fat %. There is no way he or the peleton today are at 3-4%. This level is contest ready Mr Olympia bodybuilding which they achieve only by being juiced to the gills, and dieting in misery for 6-12 weeks. They hold this for one night. If you look at the riders they don’t have the same appearance. On the YT doc on Moviestar Marc Soler was at about 15% in the bus shots with no shirt on. Don’t. E confuse carrying virtually no upper body muscle with having 3-4% body fat. They look like a bag of bones and there are some spectacular shots of vascular legs on the internet but this is not the same either.
    He also bangs on about hematocrit like it’s this massive needle mover. I am a lifetime natural 63 year old with a very low FTP but my natural hematocrit is 50/55%. Checked every 6 months

    Pogacar isn't going to have it all his own way next yr in the tdf. Vingegaard is going to push him all the way. His light weight in the long climbs is definitely an advantage over a 65kg Pogi. All it takes is one stage to break Pogi and its 2minutes in the bag. And then defend all the way to Paris. Easier said than done but Vingegaard could do it if he's in touch on GC and Pogi has a bad day.
