Awesome explanation Roy! This may be the answer to all my productivity woes! I tried to implement PARA and still had many questions and I've looked into GTD but that's 10x's more complex than PARA, which is how I stumbled on ZTD. I would love to see how to implement this in ClickUp and the folder structure that belongs to this method. Since there aren't many videos on this method, I'm really at a point where I'm building it from scratch by using GTD templates and modifying as I go. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Getting things done was revolutionary when it came out, because most people had no clue how to get their shit together, and David Allen helped them with that. However, I find David Allens books, very dry reads (ive read the 1st 2nd 3rd, workbook, and workbook for teens) I will say the system is for people who have enough time and mental capacity to comprehend what he writes, its too much. Its for executives that have their shit together for the most part, but not for people who are suffering from analysis paralysis, or anxiety. The only system that I have found, that is close to ZTD, is the 5 choices of extraordinary productivity from franklin covey. It essentially is GTD, but in my opinion, simpler, and more realistic for real life. Since David allen did work with them, id assume they would know how it works. Since in GTD, the 5 horizons of focus has (roles) so does the 5 choices. Not a dry read at all, and very informative with less pages to read, gets to the point. They also have hands on classes if you really want to learn it, and classes for companies (like microsoft) you can also use it for teams, etc.

I have another episode in a couple days that will speak to productivity again. I agree that GTD ends up feeling too complex in practice. I have been following Nir Eyal's advice (among others) on timeboxing/time blocking... Along with project lists and sub lists in workflowy... Inside a bit of a scrum system... And that is what has all come together for my maximum productivity.

@Roy can I ask what mic you use and the arm that's connected to it? Amazon links appreciated!!

It's a Rode NT-USB. With the Rode PSA-1 boom arm. I'm a huge fan of it, with 2 caveats...
      1. I don't know why, but Amazon stopped stocking it directly. You can still get it from 3rd party sellers on Amazon though, including this bundle that gets you both: amzn.to/2KE6qWI I believe it's still a current Rode product and plenty of other A/V and music supply companies do still stock and sell them.
      2. There is a small design flaw in a very important piece. The plastic ring-mount at the bottom of the mic that connects it to the stand is subject to breaking. (It's a very critical piece!) When mine broke, Rode did send me 2 replacements. But I chose instead to have a better replacement 3d-printed by my local library (for $1!), that was created by some wonderful user who both recognized this design flaw and was able to create a replacement part that fixed it: grabcad.com/library/rode-nt-usb-mounting-upgrade-to-the-mount-that-constantly-snaps-and-fails-1 Even if you're getting it new, and don't have a broken mount, I'd recommend getting one of these 3d-printed ASAP and using it instead of the factory part.

What do you think? How valuable did you find this (on a 1-10 scale) and WHY? What's your biggest takeaway or action item? How will this change how you work?
