    I use diluted liquid watercolor with a glass dip pen when I want very fine lines in my paintings. It works very well for that.

    The thing I love about these pigment based liquid watercolors is that finally I can have a lightfast marker using their empty liners. I also used them inside a technical pen, paint marker and a water brush with good results. With a drop of water they flow right out of my rotring isograph tech pen, and while not waterproof, they are all pretty staining due to the super finely ground pigment particles. I've seen a few reviews now use them like normal watercolors, but I think you might appreciate the pen or marker application too? For those who like mixed media art it's easier to use these for airbrush and spray bottles than normal watercolors as well.

    Glad to see this review Teoh. I’ve been curious about liquid watercolor . I don’t think it’s something I would use.
    But it can be very useful to sketchers. Thanks for all you do. Stay well, stay home .

    I really like this product and own the full range. Here in Germany the price is around 5 Euros online and around 6 Euros in my local art shop. I like to paint mandalas and like to layer patterns over washes, so I use a fine brush with these colors to get some details. It is easier to get an even application compared to normal watercolors.

    I use liquid watercolor in addition to regular watercolor to add a more intense color on top. 🙂

    I got some of these recently and was glad to see your video. I am using these to paint big size backgrounds -in the studio. Not a portable medium...unless you try the refillable markers, which I havent triwd yet. I like that these are pigment based (unlike Ecoline and PHMartin, which are dye based). Good to see hownyou are using these.

    I heard the aqua drop uses pigments unlike other similar products, which uses dyes, which help the lightfastness of the paints

      Dr. Ph. Martin's Hydrus colours are pigment-based. The Radiant line, which is cheaper, is dye based.

    Always an informative product review, Thanks. I'm glad you included pigment info, I always look at that before buying, I only use pigments that have the better lightfast ratings and try to use single pigment color. Wow, those look like fun, I enjoyed watching your "painting technique" demo also!

  • @soon_to_emerge

    I absolutely adore the way you are painting. It reminds me of "color writing" (I couldn't find equal phrase in english) which is a literature theory term in my language. I've read a book where author heavily used this style of "color writing" in his work, where he described environment and emotions in shapes and blocks of color.

    These Aqua Drops should look like PH Martin liquid watercolour. I noticed while painting with it that the colors were so bright when wet and rather dull when dry unlike the Horadam paints. To add shine, I had to use the Horadam paints to brighten it all up. They also have a tendency to disperse to colours that are already applied and dry. And forget repentance, these colors don't fade easily or at all. It's something you have to learn to work with. However, I imagine that with an air brush and fine liners it should bring out its qualities.

    • @KimberlyCrick
      @KimberlyCrick 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They work really well in the empty liner markers they offer. When I used them I filled 3 markers, one with yellow, one with magenta and one with blue and was able to have some fun with layering colors. They are all very staining, and unlike dye based markers, these pigments don't blend well so a different approach is needed for marker coloring than with other products.

    Is this ink or watercolor, the colors are nice, the white seems thicker

    • @KimberlyCrick
      @KimberlyCrick 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is pigment based, liquid watercolor. The white has thicker pigment particles than the other aqua drop colors, so seems borderline gel-like with its consistency. The colors other than white can be used like ink to fill empty markers and technical pens, if you consider "ink" purely as a liquid for writing. Though all of them are just a touch on the heavier creamy side, eased by a couple drops of water to help them flow if used on a dip pen.

    I saw them online but I still have a question about the Aqua Drop.
    Is it possible to reactivate them once they are dry? I would try them anyway. I have some Schmincke Horadam watercolors that I still use. I wonder if they will release a Cobalt Turquoise/Teal color for their Aqua Drop Line.

    • @KimberlyCrick
      @KimberlyCrick 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's unlikely about the cobalt, as these have to be very finely ground pigments for liquid state and I think they may be avoiding all granulating/sediment colors as well as some toxic ones. I have demonstrated their use from dry, as well as in pens and markers in my video review if you're looking for more information. They had a nice perk of being able to be applied in very thin drops to a palette, so the option for a super thin travel palette is there. Once dry, unlike tubes, they don't require a pan to hold them - they can stick to any surface such as a thin pool on a credit card even. I easily reactivated them with a wet brush. On paper is a different story though, they are all very staining partly due to how fine the pigment particles are.

    • @christinetempleton7657
      @christinetempleton7657 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      At the end of video when he tried to "lift" the color, it didn't work to well. Some came off, but not much so they are fairly staining colors. I would guess they aren't the best to reactivate maybe better to glaze with them. (Paint a transparent layer over the color you want to change.)

    It would be fun to see you try out airbrushing - the tool was invented for watercolours after all and almost no airbrushing videos on TH-cam look into its fine art application.

    I don’t think the yellow or the white will work well in markers, but I’m just guessing

    • @KimberlyCrick
      @KimberlyCrick 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The white is too thick, it has a warning on the bottle and on the markers not to use the white or it will clog. The yellow however works wonderfully. I filled 3 liners to test them out, a yellow, magenta and a blue marker, and they were really fun to play with for layering secondary colors.
