    The Platinum card was rated pretty high amongst Secured cards so I got one and never missed a payment. I think in about a year the gave back the deposit and gave me a regular Platinum card. They are pretty good about upgrading you if you want to. I now have been pre-approved for a Savor One, which I'll probably accept.

    I would like to get at the 670 range, then apply for the Quicksilver MasterCard variant for the bonus and then upgrade my current Visa Quicksilver card to either the Savor One or the Venture One and hope for higher limits. So far, Capital One has been good to me and I’d like to keep my business with them. I would eventually like to get back into Chase and possibly into others (not Wells Fargo….because of their customer service).

    Capital One does a hard credit pull from all three credit bureaus for a new credit card. If your credit is not good before going to Capital One I would do my research. Synchrony Bank could be a good option for the Paypal Mastercard you get 2 percent cash back and they only do one hard pull. I have excellent credit now but if my credit was average or fair I would apply for the Paypal Mastercard first before getting three hard pulls from Capital One.

    I have the QS card. My 2nd oldest card. I rarely use it, but keep it around for the credit history and no FTF. They keep offering me the Venture card, but I just don’t see a reason to pay the fee. I agree with you I also think the Savor One is their best card.

    • @keinlanz
      @keinlanz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Venture is a solid card. For one, something that never gets mentioned is you get 5x miles on hotel and rental car bookings through their travel portal. For two, they have some really good partnerships that you can find great value with - my favorite being wyndham + vacasa.
      Really, though, it's just about how much you spend. Do you put less than 1k per month on the card? Stick with QS. If you're closer to 2k or more, the venture is worth the annual fee easily. Also, though, consider you won't get the intro bonus from upgrading.

    • @stephenwright133
      @stephenwright133 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@keinlanz I think you could get some value, but some of the transfer rates seem less competitive than their peers. Redeeming for travel with many transfer partners is at a lower transfer rate in many cases. Plus, every travel portal used for hotels does not count toward status. That is not just a Venture card problem though.
      Like you said, it depends on spend and your needs. I just find that other cards/ecosystems have a variety of point accumulation values for categories (groceries, restaurants, etc) that match my spend with more 1:1 transfer rates.

    • @keinlanz
      @keinlanz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stephenwright133 The transfer rates are less competitive because the basic return value is more competitive. It earns 2x on every dollar, which is substantially better than, say, CSP, which only gets 2x on categories that make up a minority of most peoples' spending.
      The fact is, if its transfer partners were all 1:1, it would be far and away the best travel card on the market. As it stands, it's not overtly better than others, but is very competitive.

    You fail to mention the purpose the different cards relating to credit baskets that capitol one uses to make credit limit determinations frequently with only a soft pull. Such cards have a minimum and maximum credit limit. For the lower cards, you may get as low as $500 limit, and be forever limited by the cap. I don't know for certain but the low card may be capped as low as 1 or 2 grand, where the other cards have much higher numbers. So if you get the low card your forever limited unless you apply for a different card with higher potential.

No extra searching if we got the cash back as intended. And no minimum redeeming amount which is ideal for low flat % cash back card. Low spender here so these are nice things. But low credit limits. :/ Soft pulls nice but doesn’t do much.

      I use to work for cap one just call in and ask if your card is eligible for an upgrade…. Most times I’ve only seen the upgrade from quicksilver to venture and tbh I rarely saw Savor accounts. If they tell you it isn’t eligible for an upgrade to savor, you can always do the prequalification to see if the savor card pops up for you

Yes the funds don’t come out on the day you “pay it” but all credit cards go by the date the transaction was made and not the date the funds actually got released to them. My checking account is with chase so it takes a day or 2 for that autopay to post to my account but it’s never late bc it posts on the day it’s supposed to
