Well, I don't know how much you've saved me, but thanks so much for your help on this :) Now we have control of exactly how hot the water pumped to the radiators is thanks to you - they've been stuck on the highest setting for a couple of months. thanks Benson.
Brilliant! Thanks @benson Chik, It took 3 min the buy the part from amazon and 10 min to fit it using your video, saving me £100 and 48 hours of London Bolier repairs call-out charges and time. Thank you!
Life saver video 👍 my hot water knob snapped off inside, I couldn’t work out how that happened, then found this excellent video , fixed it in 5 mins and only £10 for set of 3 knobs
Watched video, ordered parts of amazon for £17, arrived three days later, re-watched video and installed. Took 15 mins and I did have to unclip the PCB due to the shaft of the knob was stuck. Quality video 👍👏
Bonjour je suis de Belgique et grâce à ta vidéo j'ai pu changer le bouton cassé de ma chaudière sans appelé un spécialiste. Je te remercie pour tes explications claires et précises. Bonne journée Thank you ✨️
Thanks so much for the video. I was quoted £180 to replace the knobs, but with your video I've managed to get it sorted myself under £20 in less than 15 minutes. Thanks
fHi, thank you very much for the vid. Both my dials had broken, one with tap hot water very low to compound things. Last plumber said I'd need a new pcb panel so dead expensive. With your help, all fixed for £15. Again, many thanks.
Just make sure you know what you are doing, or use rated people and get some quotes for a quick and easy job lol. Plumbers and boiler engineers going to hate me so much 😂
Hi Benson, that is a very helpful video and it has saved my life! (well not my life but a lot of hassle and cash anyway)! You explained it brilliantly. THANK YOU!
Thank you! Off to buy parts from eBay now. Last night was the first time we’ve tried the heating since April, and no heat was coming through. Had a look this morning and the heating dial had snapped. Finger crossed for an Easy fix for £13 not £100.
It's a great video. I asked how to open the boiler because I have a similar problem. My problem is when I turn the wheel to turn off the boiler it doesn’t turn off.
Hi Benson Chik. I have a Vaillant TurboMax Plus 824. The water temperature green knob still has the stem part attached ie it does not look broken. But when its located and turned the water temperature does not adjust. Any ideas/advice would be very much appreciated. Regards Nick
I am not sure, best to get some professional to help if not sure. For personal use I would just leave it if it is working, the pointer does not mean much anyway as the digital display change as you turn the dial.
Can I use a screwdriver to adjust the temperature once I've taken out the broken stick peice whilst I'm waiting for the part to arrive? It's stuck on comfort setting and I need to turn it down. With the part coming in 5 days it will be wasting a lot of gas.
Not tried that myself and there is no access to the control wheel unless you take out the PCB off the flip out case. I only need to lift a tiny bit to let out the broken pin.
Hey do you know how to remove the calormatic thermostat from the vaillant ecotec plus boiler frontplate (next to the 230V on off switch from the frontplate with the pressure meter) ? Thanks in advance
You have no idea how much this has helped me. Thank you so much. Before the knobs broke some genius decided to put the water temp up to 62°C this is to hot and my children keep scolding them selves. I've ordered the knobs but in the mean time is there any way of turning the temperature down manually? Thank in advance Benson
Please understand if you have any hot water tank hot water need to be at higher than 60c to stop legionella disease. The only way to have warm water for bath is to mix the hot 60c with cold water feed to bring it down to around 40c Don’t adjust it down until you check with a competent person 👍
@@BCreviews for baths we do mix hot water with cold to bring the temp down. It was just generally for washing hands. We've always had the temperature set to 55°C never had any issues. Thanks for your help.
Hi mate, currently got my boiler open, to fix this issue. My knob is still in the circuit board. To get it out do I push from the circuit board or pull from the dial at the front? Just scared to use too much force and break anything thanks
If in doubt get professional in. Nothing worse than causing more damage than what is trying to fix. Now that you have identified the problem and got the parts it won’t be expensive to fix by pro
@@BCreviews thanks for the reply, the issue I had was that the Dial was still attached on the front. (only the thin bar was snapped, on the circuit board side) so I had to break the dial in order to remove it. A thin screwdriver to dig in & pop the dial off, managed to brake it off. Then the original broken peices (thin bar) was able to fall out and be removed. (if that makes sense and helps anyone in future) All sorted now and issues fixed for £9 in time for winter. THANKS again for the upload guide & time taken to reply. ✌️
Mine may have been a slightly different model, but they weren't removable without breaking off the long plastic bit which fell off when I opened it. Thanks, video was helpful
I have attempted this today with no luck. got into it all fine and found the problem, the broken piece is stuck inside i can pull it up only to a certain level. Tried everything for around 20 mins, but lifting up the circuit board etc you are playing a dangerous game breaking something else. Mine was completely stuck could not lift and could not push it out. Pathetic.
I did thought of using glue but given the heat cycle it goes through and the cheap price of replacement part I thought changing it out was an better option. The boiler is great and I had 10 trouble free years of hot water so far, just the knob failed :)

I am sorry, I only know my boiler as I need to fix that specific problem. You may have to pay the boiler man if no luck DIY

what timer? mine does not have a timer
HI, how do I remove a non broken front knob?, i put a new on in but did not align it properly, will it tease out or do I take it all apart , thanks

Sorry, don’t know
Does Vaillant sell replacement knobs and the part where it sits under for the EcoFit thermostat? Apparently it’s a common issue.
No idea , I have a Honeywell thermostat. Not looked into thermostat. Sorry
Danke!

Hi Have you got a link of what you ordered ebay pls ?
Search with this number for part on Google 0020048969 I buy everything from Amazon now as they have better return policy at a fraction more expensive
I did this and the knob works but the boiler says 0c on the panel, 5.0 when I press the i button and no hot water or radiators, help please?
Sorry , I am not qualified to answer that as I am not in the trade. Best to get someone in to check that.
How do you take the old one off just pull it out ?
My control dial just fell off, the rod broke off and stayed inside the boiler.

How do I remove the knobs? Mine seem to be stuck.
Follow the steps in my video and if the knob won’t come out and risk of damaging the circuit board then call in the professional

Absolutely right to stop at your competent level, not all fix is easy and cheap. Bad design …
those are designed so fragile and weak , it can be glued back on btw . rubbish boilers.

@@BCreviews haha yeah the mk2 version has digital controls , use epoxy resin or heat gun , can blob stronger than originally.
