Hey Brian. Big fan of your channel. Great ranking. I saw on letterboxd that you ranked Ron Howard's films. Any chance you will do a ranking video of him in the future? I personally would love to see that.
Great Bryan, cannot wait for this ranking. I still can't comprehend why Sean Chandler, who recently did his own ranking, watched only the theatrical cut of kingdom of heaven. Please tell him to watch the proper version soon because his placement is not right!
A strange director (I find his 21st century work incredibly hit-or-miss) but undoubtedly one of the UK's best directorial exports. Blade Runner is a personal favourite of mine.
Hey Brian amazing video as always. I have always thought Prometheus and alien covenant are super over hated (unpopular opinion but they are my favorite alien movies. I didn’t grow up with the series)
Nicely done mate. Your number 1 wouldn't quite be my number 1 but I liked seeing it get the win. There are 2 films way down in your 20's that I really like. Just goes to show how good Scott is.

I have a theory that makes more sense the more I think about it. The Xenomorph in “Alien” is sexual in design because of the homoeroticism of David. Also, he is power-hungry and is more than willing to kill others. He is initially curious in Prometheus, but becomes a psycho soon enough. I know that plenty of people didn’t like Prometheus and/or Covenant (and they are plagued with issues), but while we didn’t need to know where the Alien comes from, it makes sense that David would be the creator. Fassbender really is such a standout, and brings a fantastic performance that actually gives the prequels a boost!
You must do, surely? You seem an intelligent man and usually your breakdown and reviews of movies I find very well realised and understood. But for some reason there is the occasional insane take which defies all logical thinking. Covenant has a set up that is exactly the same as Ridley's previous 2 alien movies, so zero originality there. The characters are utterly forgettable and stupid/unbelievable, unlike Alien. It answers none of the questions set up in Prometheus and actually cheapens/lessens that film by it's disregard of the potentially intriguing elements set up in that film. The whole idea of David being the creator of the xenomorph is bafflingly closed minded and actually makes zero sense and murals of xenomorphs are clearly seen in Prometheus anyway. It's so incompetent writing wise. And let's say we ignore that and assume David created the 'Aliens', well the you need to rename Alien to 'Manmade' as it isn't actually alien to humanity, it's a product of a manmade creation. Killing off your main character from Prometheus off screen is a ridiculous decision and completely undermines that film. The acting isn't great, there is no chemistry between the apparently married couples. It has aliens doing king fu kicks for god sake! It's an appallingly inept movie beyond the visuals and feels like it was made by people who don't understand Alien or Prometheus. Yes I know that art is generally subjective, but there are elements that are fairly objective and easily measurable and Covenant is low quality on most of those scales. There are simple, easily explained reasons why most alien fans hate this movie. It's not some anti woke thing or anything like that. Anyway sorry to rant on but I grew up on the first 3 alien films and have had a few beers so am fired up 😄. All the best ⚔️
1. Blade Runner 2. Alien 3. Gladiator 4. The Last Duel 5. The Martain 6. The Duelist 7. Black Hawk Down 8. American Gangster 9. Napoleon 10. Gladiator 2 11. Kingdom Of Heaven 12. Black Rain 13. Robin Hood 14. Alien Covenant 15. Prometheus 16. Hannibal These are the only ones I've seen
This could and should be interesting not only because of the religious element of some of Ridley's films...sacrifice honour etc....looking forward to this greatly...
Napoleon being on the bottom of your list is great! I haven’t seen all of his films, but I’m sad because I feel that he’s become too hit-and-miss recently. The theatrical cut left me feeling empty, although the eventual director’s cut fleshed out the characters all that more, especially Josephine. It wasn’t a masterpiece, but it was noticeably better (but that’s just me).
He has made some good movies but most of them lack any humour. He focuses on visuals whereas just a drop of humour here and there would improve them immensely.
@@stevo728822 probably why I like his stuff. I don't need everything to have humour in it. Oftentimes humour actually ruins movies coz it's just shoehorned in there.

Bryan I know you say you’re a Christian, but Jesus says you must be born again! Jesus is calling you to go deeper with Him, not religion but a deeper relationship with Him! I know you call yourself to be a film evangelist but Jesus wants you to be a evangelist of the Gospel.
@@Lightdavexx I'm sorry but you have no idea about my life outside of what you see on You Tube, which is but a fraction, so I will trust the Christian friends that I have in my life to speak into it, not someone on the internet who really doesn't know me. You've no idea how much time I spend with Jesus and it's a bit presumptuous to assume you have any idea where I am at in my walk with God when, as I said, you don't really know me. Every Christian is going through, or should be going through, the process of sanctification. That is a process that continues until the day we die. I've no time for religion. I am ONLY concerned about my relationship with God. And no matter how much time any of us spend in his presence it's a pretty safe bet that our lives would be further enriched by spending even more. You say, "but Jesus says you must be born again", as if to imply that I have not been. May I suggest you deal with whatever plank you may have in your own eye before you try removing the splinter from mine. I know for a fact I'm not perfect. But I do know I have a relationship with Christ and He is changing me for the better daily.
You lost me at 10 and 9. You’re insane! How can you like that modern garbage. Ridley Scott should have retired 5 movies ago. Are you being paid? Insanity!
