Everyone needs a Merlin in their life... The kind of person you can call at the last moment, who will drop everything and come help.
Great to have friends like Merlin !!! Thanks for helping Derek out !!
What he said.
Merlin what about your eyes. Give me a reply please. I need you to keep making your educational videos for us city slickers with no shops. Please
Years ago I was painting a model T and my wife’s grandfather came over, when he saw his eyes lit up and he started telling me about the one he had in high school and how he had modified it. One of the modifications was adding a model A transmission just like what you are doing, so it is fascinating seeing it being done. He talked about several other modifications they did to soup it up including running straight pipes. Listening to him telling those stories was so much fun, that was in the 1970’s and it made me realize how far back the hot rod culture went.
Makay said "he has put some together but none like this". Merlin is putting on a rebuild clinic - brazing spacers, adapter, pins, body frame modification. Combining the best of two builds, an A and a T.
The model AT

Kinda chuckled when Derek said my friend Merlin is on the way to save me, I'll introduce him when he gets here, had forgotten about you and FabRats picking up car from him. Happy Birthday Makay
Makes one wonder if you put the brains of Merlin Paul and Chad together what an awesome species you would create. Incredible talents. Don't worry about digging a hole Mackay just gather more wood it's easier. Bushyboy Oz
Aaah, Sunday morning, sitting on back porch after feeding horses. "Sharing" my second cup of coffee with Merlin doing his magic.
Another video that blows my mind! Marrying model A to the model T is not that unheard of, but you make it look like a cakewalk! It was nice of you to help a brother out (Derick).
I'd love to see you on Vice Grip Garage video the other day. You saved his bacon down in Tucson! I can hardly wait to see the finished product of what you're doing. Thank you for sharing your imagination.😊😊😊
Merlins mechanical expertise brings one in, the music and its period appropriate style keeps you here. Great job and it's always nice to see not only McKay but Derek to boot!
Merlin is a wizard!
53 ain't old McKay, happy birthday to you. Merlin u do so much that I used to do, things would just come into my head and I could make it work. Nowadays I'm lucky and thankful just to watch u. Age ain't working for me and what mind I had is slipping away. God bless you Merlin.
Yes, I can remember when I was 60 and chasing our young dog around the yard. He's 15 now and staring to show his age. I can't seem to do what I used to but I can still outrun him. Ha, ha.
Happy Birthday Herbie McKay! Everyone is Herbie at 53! Eddie
Happy Birthday to your friend Makay. 53 is still young! I turn 56 this year. This is a coool project you have started. I am really enjoying the build.
Merlin the Magician! And Makay the Sorcerer.
The things that you both do to the model A and T. Great job. Happy Birthday Makay🎉🎂🍾🤙😎
When calling looking for your brass shim, the response you’d get is “is that two wheel drive or four? “
Serious 10 hour drive to meet up with Derrick at Vice Grip Garage. Nice build on this. Lots of good stuff. Thanks!
This build is where it's A T. A lot of skills going into this. Should be a cool cruiser.
Sunday morning with Merlin gets my week off right! Love the model -T and great to see Derek and his son! Merlin you are awesome guy!
I helped a guy years ago with one of those axles I couldn’t believe how precise they are with tolerances
Hey Merlin,
Good to see the TA coming along nicely.
Having a friend like Mckay is a wonderful thing for you.
I expect that we may see you driving this magnificent machine in your next posting.
Rock On
it's amazing with old junk like this how it was so simple yet complex at the same time
Another great example of being a friend to all! Always doing for others because one day you will need the assistance of a friend. Keep up the great content Merlin look forward for Sunday’s.
Happy Birthday Makay ! I'll be 65 the 26th & know what it's like with that punch pressing rivets I done it on a old clutch disc because i could not afford a new one & it lasted a few years !
I like how oldbloods like Merlin will do ALL the work to just chop a frame down 4 inches so its perfect and just unique in some fashion.
True craftsman not a parts changer. You are 1 of the very few utubers that it would be a pleasure to meet. Keep doing and finishing projects 😄👍
Howdy Merlin🤠
Thanks for letting us look over your shoulder once again!! Your shop is definitely a "Happy Place"....
Speaking of happy, sending belated birthday wishes to Makay!! 53 and 55...you two boys are still youngsters!!
The years fly by faster with each one, so it's good to see y'all ENJOYING EVERY DAY!!
Safe travels, friends ❤❤
Stay FROSTY...
Keep your powder dry and your head on a swivel...

It's looking pretty darn good Merlin. Nice of you to help out Derek.
Makay and you work together like a "Well Oiled Clock"! Merlin....you never lose sight of the end goal and are always moving forward!
Some people would say "All I see is junk". Then when the project is nearing it's midway point they say Hmmm! LOL! Towards the time
of a test run they're saying "I wonder if he would sell it"? LOL! When I'm working in my shop and I'm welding or grinding, It attracts
neighbors and friends like moths to a flame! LOL! I think it helps people to see a vision, your vision of what something can be! It's
looking already like a winner! Thanks Merlin and Makay for a great video!
Happy birthday Mackay.Nice to see you help one of my favourite guys Derek Vice Grip Garage. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
It's good to see you manufacturing your own parts.
That looks really smart, Merlin.
A long row of genius Mc things….. Mc n‘ cheese, McRib, Connor Mcload and McKay….. all are legends….. Happy Bday MK
A real pro with a welder, thumbs up great adventure enjoy starting a Sunday morning with Merlin
Love the work you do. I allso appriciate that VGG shows you love and respect. Many people loved seeing him travelling in a Model A. He definitively needs some help with that type of content.
27 T steel spoke wheels are much better than the wood wheel of the early model T. Many accidents have been blamed on poorly maintained wood spoke wheels!
Merlin, you should become on of the beginning installers for Edison diesel electric trucks like Deboss garage is doing. You’d be perfect
It is so nice to watch you working your shop. You do the kinds of things that the old timers (even older than me) used to do to keep their equipment running. Then, the next thing you do is WAY beyond anything I understand. You "young pups" are so full of knowledge. So at 74, I'm really enjoying watching you get inventive in your shop and building so many different things.
Nicely done and well done rescueing Derik of VGG
Those old Ford diffs like the A and T models were quite unique I can't tell you how many of those 1930's to 1940's year split diffs I used for all kinds of things in and around home and the garage once split they made great bird bath stands sinking the axel end in concrete and using the diff dish end as the water dish cradle we had five in the shop under the gang drills and mill always held that up sturdily the front steering and yoke to the trans made great trailer axles loved the vented brake drum hubs never seen any of those wheel seals fail
Nice to see u doing other things. Tired of seeing everyone building wreckers n now rollbacks. Trends are over rated... your one of the best to watch. Always doing something no one else is
You and VGG as well as FabRats?
What a pleasure!
Happy birthday, Makay ✌️😊
I would have had that carburetor covered during all that cutting, grinding, and welding.
Coming along great gonna be fun to first drive definitely one of a kind
Old technology was once innovation. I teach my kids and their friends this whenever we open something up.
Great video as usual. Saw you the other day on Vice grips Garages video! That was cool you could help him out! My Grandpa built a little garden tractor, that i believe he used a Model A or T rear end that he chopped and narrowed. Can't wait to see your finished Speedster!
Great video! Thanks again from Kentucky!😎
hell yeah brother (of gearhead family) the music choice during brake pad work is perfect. Great work Merlin Production Team.
I love the music when McKay was doing the brake ring..Old School..Shoulda made the section in Black n White video for more realistic times..and sped up is perfect thinking of the old reels for video..Derek appreciated your help too..He comes up with some wild projects!
Always love getting up before family and getting my Merlin time 😅
Great work, great content and great editing. I love the old music in the background while you're working on old vehicles. Hats off to the editor. Very nice touch!
Cool very nice you guys sure know how to build those old girls it's just a work of art.cant wait to see this one finished.Take Care Guys.
Amazing attentions to the details, this is going to be a very special mode of transportation... I remember hand riveting linings & clutch for tractors, back when ya couldn't find parts, just the pieces, lol. Sure glad you're teaching some of the old school tricks, perhaps it will keep some things yet alive! Thanx !
Saw that last night you helped him out. What an awesome thing you did. You looked tired, and that 5 hour drive will do it. You should see this rail. I am finishing up today for a customer. Go check it out on the channel, cuz..😅
It's amazing how many people don't know hoe to replace those brake linings.
I see one major advantage to living in Havasu, no grass cutting
Thanks!
😊🔧🏁🙏
@@MerlinsOldSchoolGarage of course. That’s no enough for a birthday present but I appreciate your videos and it puts me in a good mood. Enjoy the great day. Tell Merlin I said howdy!

Nice job on those brakes, I've never seen that before. Need a brass washer, just make 1..
Lol, it is looking great so far Merlin.
Merlin the Model A and T professional doing what he and McKay do best. Mighty nice of Merlin the make the 5 hour trip to Tuscon to bring Derek and Bailey the rear end they needed to continue on their Rte 66 trip! Always interesting when Merlin put on a video!

I might be wrong, but nahh I don't think so! MIDDLE AGE RULES!! 🤣 I CAN'T DRIVE MY AGE 55
Lake Havasu to Tucson! Merlin you rock.
Love the community!! Merlin thanks for spotlighting the old Fords love what you do. Thank you 🙏🏼
Merlin: Derek needs me ................ Pyerrrrrnnnnnnnnnnnnnn !!
Absolutely riveting!
just the inspiration I needed. I'm working on a 1923 model T doctors coupe repowered with a pinto engine and drive train. I'm working on the brakes which were upgraded to 1939 ford I believe.
Lookin Awesome Merlin, McKay..
I can't believe how you modify and fabricate to get the parts you need Merlin.
Ol school welding, brass and gas , this was the first type of welding when I was in welding school ,
I had a 1923 Austin 12 tourer and every 5,000 miles I had to take the clutch apart to regrease the thrust bearing we could not ever buy a new thrust bearing for love nor money
Awesome 👍
In the 70 ‘s a buddy of mine was putting back a 32 5 window with rear torsion bar suspension and hemi motor with 2-4’s it had a Sid Erscon solid lifter cam. We needed specs to set lifters up. The Erscon guy answered, what can I do to you?” We got a cam number 1234..in Hemi. I answered. He laughed, came back with “stick transmission ?” No I said powerglide I said another laugh, “you best get highest stall speed converter you can get, good luck and don’t call back we got nothin for you”
He did give us spec of cam
Car ran good at 3800 rpm to valve float
