Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland is home to hundreds of different ethnicities making the food scene one of the most diverse in the world. Over the next few weeks we’re eating our way around the globe via Auckland’s restaurants, food trucks, market stalls and takeaway shops.
This is part two of our hunt for Auckland’s best Cantonese food. You can find Part 1 here: • Auckland's BEST Canton...
In this episode we take you into the kitchen of a takeaway shop called Silverlake Deep Fried Bread specialising in you char kway, Chinese fry bread for a close up look of a Chinese breakfast favourite. We eat wonton noodle soup with luscious roast duck at a city stalwart called B.B.Q King and share a locals favourite, Golden Barbecue Noodle House dishing up HK classics and traditional Cantonese fare (we’ve been eating here for 15 years!). These are Auckland’s tastiest Cantonese eats, hit subscribe and get ready for some mouthwatering food.

Yum Yum Yum...Mouth watering my favourite chinese regional food.
I love won ton tong but mostly I enjoy with char siew.
Auckland has some amazing cantonese outlets that rival hongkong.
Great vlog...Just bought AUD$80 of char siew to enjoy in the next few weeks.
Tonight Glass noodles with King prawn and char siew fried noodles with selected vegies.
    Cant wait...
I'm disabled so I can not join any trips in the future.
If I was able to my choice would 100% have been Japan of which I speak Japanese but thats a dream that just won't happen.
    Interesting idea

Good work on the char siew Tavita! 😍 that’ll keep you going for a bit! Dinner sounded great 😄 we’re so lucky here in Auckland with the number of Cantonese restaurants- so spoilt. Hope there is enough interest in a group trip- not sure if people are even thinking about travel at the moment so it’s a great way to get a gauge. If it happens we’ll make sure to film a bit of it so people who can’t come with can feel a part of it 😄 We’d love to get to Japan too 😍 Thanks for watching this one mate, hope you’re having a great weekend! Island food you guys have to go to tanz kitchen in Otara and get the night market steak plate its cheap big portion and you won't be disappointed!!

The Ox Tongue shape of the fry bread go well with the soy milk, but the savory fry bread stick I would prefer to have it dip in with congee/porridge. Auckland Cantonese Noodle Restaurant gave Thomas decent amount of Roast Duck in the Wonton Noodle Soup. Where I live most places only get half or less of what he got. Singapore Rice Noodles & Yang Chow Fried Rice are similar since both have BBQ Pork, Shrimp, & Fried Eggs. As for the conclusion of this video, I couldn't think of any better places to eat since they know more but I wish they can get together with other food channel crews like Mark Wien, Trevor James, and among others for the group video as soon as this pandemic is over.

Interesting survey. Based on locations being so specific I assumed they were scheduled TrovaTrip destinations. Looked up. Yup. I realize listing so many diverse locations and activities helps TrovaTrip secure new travelers but seems like it would be a challenge for Chasing a Plate to gain any real understanding of where subscribers would want to visit. There’s a potential 20 people will fill out surveys and select 20 different destinations (again due to so many options).
*That said,* looks like there are no upcoming Food Adventures. Here’s hoping you two can become their traveling food experts!

    • @ChasingaPlate
      @ChasingaPlate  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi Tosh, yea it’s a very spread out range of destinations as it needs to cover the breadth of creators that they work with. But we’re already getting a great gauge as obviously our subscribers are food focused and are picking destinations that have strong food cultures. Thailand and Vietnam are coming out on top at the mo! Thanks for watching this one Tosh. Cheers, Sheena

Love your videos. Auckland has come a long way since. When I was living there thirty years ago, the chinese food were crappy and very few restaurants around. How I wish I am in Auckland now?

Cantonese roast duck is one of my favourite foods. I tried to roast one myself, once, to see if I could carve some boneless pieces - a bit like a chicken. No such luck. The cleaved pieces seem to be the best. You just have to work around some bones for the deliciousness.

Thanks for watching! Did you roast it Chinese style? We’ve only cooked a whole duck once ourselves. It was a wild duck (got it from hunting) and we cooked it in more of a French style with orange. Came up pretty well. Thanks heaps for watching this one. Cheers, Thomas 😀
