Watching this as an adult, as crazy as someone like Rolly would drive me, I can give him props for being calm, cool, and collected and never letting anyone pressure him.
I could remember watching these shows when I was six or seven or eight with my mom. We made popcorn and watched 227 before this, the most innocent and best time of my life because I had so many good memories with my mother rest in peace.
OMG! Same exact scenario except it was with my grandmother! We did the lineup on Sat nights....227, Amen, Golden Girls, and Empty Nest! Best times of my life... I miss my granny 👵
Jester Hairston was such an incredibly talented man. His contributions to the music world far outweigh anything else he did. One of my most treasured possessions is my copy of one of his choir numbers that he directed our college choir on back in the early 80's. I was the accompaniest on that song so I asked him to autograph my copy. What a warm & wonderful person he was.
@@unclebrother6244 Interesting indeed 🤔 but remember we had Apartheid here during those years up to until 1994.. so it's possible black people shows were not aired 🤷🏾♂️
Soon as he says “weeeellllll” then you already know to just say forget it 😂😂😂
Yes 😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂 exactly
Rest In Paradise Jester Hairston and Sherman Hemsley you both are truly missed 🕊️🕊️🕊️❤️❤️❤️

Big facts! He reminds me of the old deacons
The fact that he could bring out a handkerchief and the audience looses it says everything
Rolly had me cracking up
R.I.P. Sherman Hemsley and Jester Harriston
And Rosetta Lenoire!!!
Hairston
Imma carry a handkerchief when I get older because of Rolly

I love me some Rolly❤❤❤
This was so completely funny
I loved this show.. watching it once a week couldn't wait for the next episode.. it was around years 1999/2000
South Africa 🇿🇦
Amen originally ran from 1986 to 1991. I find it interesting that it didn't make its way to South African until 99/00.

This man was trolling before the word existed!
Rolly made the show!!!
My mother LOVES he’s character!
I had forgotten Rolly. And I definitely never knew he was the famous composer, Jester Hairston.
😊😊 I wish it was back on the air...at least the Christmas one hint hint tv folks 😅
Jester Hairston was a hilarious old man.
In Amen, Jester Hairston played Rolly Forbes, an elder church member, who often acts as the voice of reason.
PUT THIS SHOW ON DVD
I wanna know why he didn’t want to get married
Rolly was my boi
Wellllllllllll
Rolly and Frye was the 2 funniest on the show.
Hated Thelma and Pastor's roles
Lol!!!!
"Weeell!"😅
There was a baby’s funeral in there.
The man who played Rolly, Jestor Hairston, was also a regular on Amos and Andy. He is a veteran actor.
