Written pattern for convenience , please follow along the video as she goes: 1. Chain x amount (18 used in the video) I assume it needs to be a multiple of 2 but I may be wrong, as I’m writing this as I watch and haven’t attempted it yet. 2. Single crochet across row. Chain 2. Turn. 3. Skip a stitch, make a double crochet. Chain 1. Yarn over, insert your hook into the stitch you skipped (so the stitch behind your double crochet) pull up a loop - repeat x4, yarn over, pull through all loops on your hook (I counted 9) . Chain 1. This is the pattern for creating your puffs. Repeat till the end of the row. Be careful when skipping a stitch for your next double crochet, make sure you skip your previous double crochet so that when you ‘go back’ to make the puff, you are crocheting into an empty stitch. End the row on a double crochet. If you’re changing colours, so so now. Chain 2. Turn. 4) double crochet into the gap between your last two puffs. Chain 1. Make a puff in the gap between the last puff of the previous row and the double crochet at the end of the row. Repeat the pattern, crocheting into the gaps between the puffs as you go and changing colours as you go until you reach your desired size. For a smoother edge, crochet the last double crochet of the row into the chain stitches of the previous row. I hope this helped anyone that needed a bit more context. I avoided abbreviations (sc, dc, and so on) to make it easier to read for newer crocheters since this is a super easy pattern repeat that is beginner friendly. Have fun, and happy ‘knitting’.
On these tutorials, I 1st watch the video, then I go back & crochet, step by step along with them. If I get confused, I am able to pause, go back, and review until I get a full understanding of the stitch or the pattern. That helps me. 👁️❤️💙 all my crocheting Sistas & Brothers. 😁 Have A Blessed Day In THE LORD!!!
I know this is a year old but for anyone coming after, like me, try Googling Braided Puff Stitch. There's other videos & some good written out instructions. I'd add links but some creators delete comments with links.
I would love to make this blanket, but as a beginner, I can’t fall long to just a song. I also need words to tell me how many and what’s next hopefully when I get better, I will be able to come back and do this blanket.
I’m a complete beginner and I’m struggling to follow this video. It’s maybe not aimed at total beginners though. It’s nice to watch and is something to aspire to, but is also extremely frustrating to try to follow. I see someone posted a written pattern having watched the video of what was being done. I’m going to have a go at following that, but it sounds complicated just reading it lol. I’m determined to finish it though as I’ve started it now! 🤞🤞🤞
@@alisonjones2482 In the comments someone wrote out the instructions...hopefully this will help. Edit: I forgot to add...this stitch is the Braided Puff Stitch so you can Google it & find plenty of information.
@@jeniferstrang2957 A lot of times a pattern looks complicated written out but then as you do it it simplifies itself. I hope you had good luck doing this. The creator doesn't respond to comments so try Googling Braided Puff Stitch. This is the stitch she's using. You'll find other videos & some written instructions as well.
I love this…but I’m completely new to this and have sooooo many questions. How many chains to make a large blanket. What weight of yarn are you using . How do you get the hook to glide so effortlessly back through all the stitches. Being new I need verbal instructions too…thr background music isn’t helpful to learning
The best way to gauge how many chains for a large blanket is to chain until you think it’s wide enough. There isn’t really a set amount. Just keep making chains until you find a desired length or width. This pattern looks like a 4 or 5 sized yarn. To get a really smooth glide, you have to loosen your tension, but keep the tension persistent.
Make your chain as long as you want the width of your blanket to be. I think any yarn would work for the most part. If making a baby blanket, I would use a cotton yarn. Softer, lighter and easy to wash. I would also pick skeins of a Multicolored yarn and use that all the way through, elimating the need to color change after every row. I do agree some verbal instruction or written instructions would of been great!
You chain until you think it’s wide enough for a blanket. I like to add one or two extra chains just in case the stitches pull and make it a little skinnier. This looks like 4 sized yarn. The hook is “gliding effortlessly” because they are an experienced crocheter, once you get more practice you realize how much tension you should be creating between the hook and the yarn.
I'm using this pattern for a baby blanket & I'm following the video precisely...my project is so spiraled & curly. I'm hoping to keep going & it will even out but yikes. Using a 3mm crochet hook with size 3 light weight yarn
i'm probably a bit too late but one of the reasons why your project could be getting curly is if the chains are too tight. it's best if you keep an even pressure through out the project because if it's too tight in some places and too loose then there's a chance that your project might not take up a proper form
My guess would've been what Christy said too. Unfortunately I'm in the middle of another project or I'd start this & try to make squares from it. Edit: If by some chance you gave up temporarily...Google Braided Puff Stitch. There's plenty of information that may help.
I haven't started this yet but, without trying, my first guess would be you're crocheting too tightly. Edit: If you do still need help try Googling Braided Puff Stitch & maybe some of the written instructions, or other videos, that come up will help.
Very pretty. But no written instructions or verbal just annoying music. So name of the stitch. So will look for the name somewhere so I can watch a tutorial with written or oral instructions. Very pretty pattern of stitches though.
I agree. Is lovely, but too hard to follow on video. Stitching is being done too quickly in some parts. Written instructions alongside video would be extremely helpful. Thanks for putting the video on though. Gives us beginners something to aspire to! lol
I love this blanket and would love to make it. However I don’t have the patience or talent to follow in a video, especially when all it has is background music and no verbal instructions. Where can I find a written pattern?
Very nice pattern, I think you're quite talented. But with it speaking and only music is a little annoying. Speaking goes along way as you demonstrate work. Or at least providing written instruction to follow would be beneficial. Especially for those that are new to crocheting.
Hi Im a beginner - how many are ****ch , I want to make a blanket for my older siser for her 60 birthday, so how do I know how many I have to start with ? Thank You Julie
Thank you! Not new to crocheting, but I can't see as much as I want and I'm not sure how many chains to get started. Looks like initially 4 chains, then groups of 3 chains until you reach the length you want? Will go watch your link but that's where I'm confused ;)
Google Braided Puff Stitch. I'm not sure if you'll find an exact pattern but there will be plenty of other videos & at least 1 good instructional page.

How many chains should I do got a bigger blanket ???
Best advice, chain until your blanket feels wide enough for you. I normally do anywhere from 100-120 for a baby blanket.
