My husband is Egyptian and ive been many time to these markets. I just ignore everyone and dont make eye contact or talk with anyone until i like something. It's the easiest way to get through.

My speciality is Icelandic …. it’s a long story , but I do speak and understand that language . Your language will baffle them too … don’t Ever use English , it will drive nuts instead of vice versa . Once in Izmir ..Turkey … I had 3 hustlers trying desperately to go to tghere Rug Salon . English , French , German …. I spoke Icelandic . Eventually one of them said to me .. I know you speak English but I told them “ You will catch a bird with your mouth before you sell him a rug “ … Do It Davud !
As much as I would love to go to Egypt, I will never go. Because they are overly pushy on making a sale. You might want to count how many times You say, "No, no thank You". This would definitely make it a bad experience for me. Too much bantering.

If it happens u accidentally make eye contact with one of them ur lost….he will never leave u till u give him a dollar. It starts directly at the airport, where the authorities start begging and demanding baksheesh (tips). Than the taxi nightmare starts.. U will be harassed, scammed, touted, begged, pickpocketed and perverted from the moment u set foot in Egypt till you enter the plane back home…even in the plane the staff will start scamming and begging you for tips.
You are a very respectful and kind person but you have to be strict with them or ignore them and don't talk to them, they are opportunistic, exploitative and annoying. Yes they have families to feed but their way is very bad, and as an Egyptian I hate this, you just have to stop being generous with them, they don't deserve this respectful treatment, they all just want to scam you and take advantage of you.
