Beautiful team ball by UConn. It's crazy to think but I grew up a Tarheel fan and think of them as a basketball powerhouse, which they are. However, UNC has 6 titles all time 1957 through present day. UConn has won their 6 titles all since 1999. Incredible!
UConn fan here - my Dad & I would go to one regular season game almost every year since the mid-90’s to see them play in Hartford at the Civic Center. I was just saying to my Dad this morning, I’m so glad he and I have gotten to enjoy every winning season together!
Tarheel fan right here and UCONN has surpassed us due to the number of titles in such short time span and also having the most dominant tournament performance ever! All you can really do is tip your hats off to them and give them your respect ✊🏽
So proud of my alma mater, Uconn '66. Played baseball there about 100 years ago. Lol. No glory. What they've accomplished starting with the Calhoun era and now with Dan Hurley is simply amazing. Six national championships and two in a row now in the last 25 years is incredible! Not to mention the records the Women have established under Geno Auriema. Basketball Capital USA!

I was telling folks that this matchup reminds me of the matchup a few years earlier with Baylor vs Gonzaga. Just like tonight this was also a total mismatch. Purdue (as was Gonzaga) was the 2nd best team in the Country, they both just happened to run into a buzz saw team in the Championship Final. Zack Edey didn't have enough fire power in his supporting cast, but Zack did do his part in scoring 37pts and crashing the boards.

Their guards dominated over the Purdue guards. Rebounds, assists to turnover ratio, bench production. Eddy did his thing but he had a negative effect on passing out of the post. Guards are NBA caliber, size and strength. One 3 pointer for Purdue, 2 bench points.

The one thing that hurts about this, as a UConn fan, is that last night was the last time we’d watch Tristen Newton, Cam Spencer, Stephon Castle and Donovan Clingan play in a UConn jersey. Maybe Karaban, too. It’s kind of bittersweet. We love you guys and all you’ve done for this program.
Newton and Spencer obviously. Klingan more than likely but I am not sure. He did not play great defense so might come back another season to bump his stock up. I think Castle and Karaban come back another season.

The women's game was a better game overall. Purdue didn't belong and didn't even try to shoot their way back in it. Braden Smith's stats looked "good", but he couldn't do anything. If Purdue wants to go anywhere, they need to start by recruiting a dynamic point guard.

Purdue didn't belong. I was tempted to bet the under 4.5 and 9.5 points totals on Gillis and Loyer respectively, but I settled for playing it safe and using my FD profit boost on UConn straight up. Connecticut was definitely beatable, but it had to be a team like Creighton or Tennessee to do it. Purdue's guards are too slow and weak. There's no way you're winning a championship if your guards are liabilities.

The way they teach bigs to play in NCAA is god awful. No wonder European centers are so dominant in NBA. Nineteen year old Jokić, from his ABA league days, would school this guy Edey any day of the week. And Edey absolutely dominates NCAA. Other bigs are just good for rebounding, occasional pick-n-roll dunks and to make screens and fouls. Amazing!

Watching UConn run their offense was an impressive thing to see. Methodical, patient, and efficient. Their defense was even more impressive, holding the number one 3 pt shooting team to only one 3 pointer shows they just impose their will on these teams. It seems they’ve had an answer for every teams strengths the last 2 tournaments. One of the all time greats on both ends of the floor in tournament history in my opinion.
