Discussed Willie Nile late in my life (of the Beach Boy generation), but he quickly became my all time favorite artist! Then this new album came out, and he became even more so. Love the combination of lyrics and rocking. I think we all know who he's talking about here.
u got that..no one belts it out or caresses your soul like Willie. He is also the link between the best fifties and sixties rick n roll and the present...
His best album in decades. ALL his albums have great lyrics, but this one sounds a little more consistent. And I grade albums 75% music and 25% lyrics, whereas critics judge them 95% music and 5% lyrics, but they have emotional problems. I can READ prose. I just want to listen to something cool. This one is like dry ice.
It always amazes me when musicians align themselves with one political side. They act so self righteous and appalled at the same time. To think that these people can be so naïve to believe that one side of the aisle is evil and the other is pure. They are just as bad as the people and politicians they denounce. Where is the honest, unbiased thinkers in music anymore? All we have left is aging rockers who perpetuate the political and social division among the public. Do we really need this old hat, taking side mentality, or do we need someone to step up and call out ALL the politicians, on both sides for lying, cheating and stealing from the taxpayers at every turn? Are there really that many people out there that think that way? We have many lifelong politicians in our government right now who are worth 100 million dollars or more, yet we do nothing to remove them or to question how they got so rich. If Willie Niles REALLY wants to be cutting edge, he should stop trying to impress his "Boss" by writing what he thinks his "Boss" would like to hear and tell the truth, that all politicians in the US have been compromised. If Willie cant see that, then I guess he is just another political puppet, churning out more smug divisiveness in the echo chamber that has become today's music. I can understand why the young artists do this, because they don't have much life experience, but for someone his age to continue this bs, you would think he would know better. Age doesn't always equal wisdom. Now that would be a good title for Willie to use to write a song about himself.
@@ianbrown8308 I saw Willie in 1980, when he opened for the Who, I was 16. I was born in the Bronx, went to Taft HS, and Fordham Univ. I live in UES now. I have seen him at least 10 or more times over the years around the city, so I'm speaking from my own personal experience. I do enjoy his music, I just don't like when artists take sides politically, others may like it, but i just don't, that's my prerogative. IMHO, he has made a sharp left turn since House of a thousand guitars in 2009 and thats his right, but i dont have to like it and i should be allowed to state my opinion based on my experience. In the future, please dont assume you know anything about people, its better to just ask first. if you would have said, "have you heard a lot of his music or are you just basing your statement on this song?", then that would be fine, but no, you had to jump right into insinuation and discretization. I wont do that to you, because I dont like it when people do it to others. After all, we should have a kind discourse, if we find we dont agree on something. Take Care and have a nice day, ( i mean that, Im not being sarcastic) :)

@@jerrylehky3472 Its seems that my comment triggered you. I know how sensitive some people can be, its quite loathsome, if you ask me. It a shame there are so many people that cant stand constructive criticism, even when it isn't aimed at themselves! Get thicker skin soy boy. This is outrageously great. Since we no longer have Tom Petty &THB Willie & his band are my vote for best current real rock and rollers.
