Willie never disappoints, always has something to say that is worth listening to and is Rock & Roll at it's very best. Unbelievable live, do not miss any opportunity to see him. From the UK I say God Bless America & Willie & the Boys.
Willie is s National Treasure and it is amazing for someone to sound just as great over 40 years later and the songs are incredible. He is my favorite singer-songwriter-musician and glad he has been making up for lost time after the post "Golden Down" 1980's. "Places I Have Never Been " was a triumphant comeback in 1991 and thankfully the music, songs and shows have been steadily flowing ever since!! This is a superb song and video and Willie has always been a lyrical genius. Thanks for the music Willie and sorry to have missed your show at The Linda in Albany, NY last month. Next time for sure!!
I saw him and his band perform this last week. He described how the song came to him while he was getting some recording gear from a storage space that it turns out that I knew well, as it was was right next to the place I would park when I would see a show at the old City Winery. He was describing how ridiculously heavy the traffic used to be in that area (for those of you who aren't familiar with the area, it's adjacent to the Holland Tunnel, one of the three ways to leave Manhattan for New Jersey and civilization), which I will attest to, having spent far too many minutes of my finite life sitting in traffic waiting for people who weren't even heading in the same direction that I was trying to cut into that Holland Tunnel traffic and blocking my way, Anyway, Willie started describing how he went to get his gear during the big lockdown and even though it was Friday rush hour where normally cars would be clogged up for blocks, there was barely a car in sight. That's where he got the inspiration for the song and the video, which shows an almost totally deserted Manhattan.
Deep tracks - on Sirius radio- was playing numerous songs by him in 2006 from streets of new york- an Album you must hear it's amazing - But I do actually remember him from the early 90s - he really didn't become musically prolific until the mid 2000s Actually if you read up on him he opened For The Who in the early eighties - pretty cool 😎

The Magnificent Willie Nile and his rocking troubadours 🎤🎸👍
With covid in 2020, we actualy saw the earth stand still for a few days. Profound. Great rocking tune
great song named after my fave movie
Brilliant totally underrated songwriter. Lyrics always profound. Great performer. Should be up there with Dylan, Springsteen and Seger
Miss my Willie

I saw Willie in Nottingham some 10 years ago, the band where brilliant.

I fucking love this song! I don't care what @Willie intended or where his loyalties rest. It just moves me. As good music should.
Great song! I'm telling everyone in the Netherlands!
Yes tell them...Tell them all🙋♀️
Now, this is great!

A mighty fine song from a mighty fine record. Buy this record, friends. Immerse yourself in Willie’s humanity. Such voices are far too rare.
These lyrics are perfect and in sync with our times. Brilliant . sept 14, 2021
I'm so glad I heard this on Little Steven's Underground Garage last week. I've now "discovered" Willie. Great songs. Great albums. Great artist.
I heard it there too, and I had never heard of Willie Nile before that.
Same with me. Little Steven! Now I'm a Willie fan.
Better late than never. He tours England and draws a very loyal crowd too.
Me, too. Fiirst time I heard him, will get the CD.

Welcome back Willie
Powerful truth making notes …
Another great song from a true American rock & roll bard. The new album is terrific, no surprise, Willie is consistently great.
Willie can't write a bad song, can he? Extra points for all the NYC scenery (even though it's just out my window).
ANOTHER STUNNER
Got my tix to se him in Virginia this month
Wow, I totally did not get this song until watching this video. Great job Willie, you're one of the best
Just discovered this song randomly on Spotify. Been playing it all fucking day! Great song! 🤘
I'm ashamed to say I'd not heard of Willie until Johnnie Walker interviewed him today, but this is wonderful - I've got a lot of catching up to do!
I loved the Johnny walker interview, I've seen Willie twice and met him twice over the last 26 years.
Willie does sci fi. The whole album is good though. Reminds me of his 80s work.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Awesome, Excellent and this day is coming, maybe not in our lifetime, it will be. There are many different names for this Biblical 🤔
Well fuckin' done Mr. Nile!
Trying to write down the lyrics. Anyone knows what he sings after the solo, repeats it three times Is it from the movie?
Ok got it now Klaato barada nikto
"Klaatu Barada Nikto" Yes, it is from the movie.
This is about the movie with Klaatu and Gort!! 🛸👽🤖
Can anyone send me the lyrics, please?
Politicians were in the pockets
There were senators on the edge
There were Wall Street mooks shaking in their boots
Standing on the window ledge
A cold north wind was blowing
Giving everybody a chill
Nothing moved out on Main Street the day the earth stood still
There was panic in the cities
There was terror in the town
There was teardrops falling on every street
The day it all came down
There were mothers holding babies
Wailing on the window sills
The were preachers begging down their knees
The day the earth stood still
The day the earth stood still
The day the earth stood still
I saw grown men crying making out their will
The day the earth stood still
When the ABC`s of logic
Meet the CEO`s of greed
And the SRO`s of loneliness cry out and start to bleed
There comes a time for judgement
A time to pay the bill
And that is just the way it was the day the earth stood still
The day the earth stood still
The day the earth stood still
I saw grown men crying making out their will
The day the earth stood still
Solo
Klaato barada nikto
Klaato barada nikto
Klaato barada nikto
So if you feel some heartache
And I you fell some pain
And if you see some lonely soul
Standing in the pouring rain
Offer up some kindness
Compassion if you will
And remember well the way it was the day the earth stood still
The day the earth stood still
The day the earth stood still
I saw grown men crying making out their will
The day the earth stood still
The day the earth stood still
The day the earth stood still
I held my baby tight in my arms
The day the earth stood still
Klaato barada nikto
Klaato barada nikto
Klaato barada nikto

What a great song and what a great artist. That lead guitar player sucks. That's the only problem I have with this video.
