John, you have a real radio voice, you will do well on utube. I look forward to watching your success on this platform. Hope to win one of your giveaways.
You are one of the very few out there that use the fixed angle sharpeners correctly with diamond matrix stones in order for the micro teeth they impart to the edge aligned in the proper direction. Well done! KnifeMaker/Retired after 47+ years in the shop.
Nope, a screw up! The actual angle to the edge is now off by the amount of the angle of the bevel of the blade. Doesn't really matter if consistent, but it is not the true angle if that matters to you. The only accurate way is to use the flat on the device, zero the angle finder and only then set the angle to the edge. KnifeMaker/Medically retired after 47 years in the shop.
The Work Sharp profenional PA is a great tool, but pretty limited. Hapstone actually makes a stone holder and upgraded clamp for the Worksharp that allow you to use any stones you want and gives you the same versatile clamp system as the RS.
Great video! Wishing you every success with your channel!
Great info. I have been looking to purchase a fixed angle sharpener. The Hapstone RS is in the top few choices after spending hours researching.
They make a good product. Just got to catch them on sale!

Thank you, I do my best
Good call zeroing on the blade, wouldn’t have thought to do that

@michaell397 You are correct sir. The big flat spot on top of the clamp swivel actual has "ZERO LEVEL" across the top.
So the stone holder is a rod that slides in a tube? Does the play increase as you slide it out?
Not now, it has very little slop, I oiled it at first because it was a little stiff, now its perfect, Lets see how it is a couple years from now, huh
I think I like this design more than the Work Sharp ones.
I think it's a little more solid
