Jester Bob is/represents those people that are superficially very charming and happy, but those closest to them realize he is cruel and holds no joy for anyone or anything except destruction and pain (notice how all the alphabet puppets have sad faces around Bob, but when K Flay gets sucked in, they smile). People only see what is presented through the television of him, like how social media shapes how we see people. As it progresses, K Flay makes friends who get her (the other puppets) and help and support her (they want to help free her again), while everyone realizes Bob is a prick and not the funny, nice person they think. So to me it's about seeing through facades and not letting yourself be a cynical jerk.
This song was my adolescent anthem. Being a closeted queer kid In highschool was rough but her music helped. Art is a great way for young people to engage with and articulate those bigger emotion and experiences.
