Brother David, I LOVED this message! The parallels the cannanite woman had with the persistent widow (Luke 18) were awesome. The lady knew who she was asking and wouldn’t be deterred. Maybe the lady was a servant in a household of a believer?? Possibly the householder was a person of full faith that he "and his house" are covered by the householder's faith? Has any comentary recognized a possibility? Or maybe it's a stupid question. The dogs eat from the crumbs that fall from the masters table." I saw elsewhere that servants were commonly called dogs. In an early manuscript about Lazarus dismissed from the household, the passage read "other dogs" came and licked his sores ~ αλλα και. I think this might be the only place where the manuscript was altered. The scribe didn't want the reader to think the master kicked his old dog out. But "other dogs" was correct in that a servant was a "dog." Oh, and I remember something from OT about people eating the crumbs. That probably included scraping the plates. I've been in that position...eatjng the potato peelings and crusts cut from sandwiches. I would not hesitate to eat what falls on thd floor. But HER faith was great. HER faith.
