I do Q&As, not as many as you, but we're on our 164th session and THIS question is probably the MOST asked by far. EVERY Christian should be able to answer "Is Jesus God?"
Romans 9:5 (ESV) To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen. It says “Christ, who is God over all”
QUESTION: I wholeheartedly and immovably believe that Jesus is God. Period. John 1:1. Period. But I have difficulty defending that in light of such verses as John 16:23 "And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you." Please help me explain this.

@@Eben_Haezer I'm not sure how it's unclear...I'm not being catty but I don't see at all how it's not obvious. I'm not saying that I agree that it proves that Jesus cannot be God. I'm simply stating that it's extremely obvious how it can be used in that context. If Jesus said we shouldn't ask Him directly for anything, but that we should instead ask the Father in His Name, is it not clear that some could perceive this to mean that they are not both One God?
@@TheSweetpea1971 You say "Jesus said we shouldn't". Where did He use "shouldn't "? It just says apostles won't ask him anything. From v.19 onwards it talks about they were asking questions. Jesus knew that they wanted to ask Him a question (John 16:19). He assured them that a day would soon come when they would not ask Him questions. Instead, they would pray to the Father and He would meet their needs. This was the promise that they desperately needed to believe: that the Father loved them and would hear their requests and meet their needs. Ohhhh YAH🤌😁
I agree with you brother about the pronouns. Yes it does give clarity. Yes reverence is important.
John 10:30
Love your Bobbleheads 😂
I acree on the capitalization of the pronouns referring to Jesus, God or the Holy Spirit.
Romans 9:5 (ESV) To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.
It says “Christ, who is God over all”
NASB is the only other one I am aware of that has the reverential capitalization…at least on the Protestant side. I much prefer it as well.
🙏🙌

the OT quote about Elijah preparing the way of the LORD specifically uses the name YHVH

I agree. I think it's just easier for those of us faithful believe. Some people won't accept any Scripture to convince them.
