    Thanks for posting. Glad to hear that Tipi Valley still exists. I hope there is more acceptance and less ignorance now from the locals.

      Thank you for your post. Fortunately, the anti-hippy thing died out a long time ago, we've been here longer than half the local population has been alive. We are very much a part of our local village of Cwmdu and the culture and economy of the area. More than a third of the local primary school, which is Welsh-speaking, come from the Valley. Without them, the school would have been closed a long time ago. etc. The community is entirely economically self-sufficient, though it can never be entirely self-sufficient in its food production - these days pretty well every household has its pollytunnel in order to make the aim of producing as much of our own food as poss more realistic. Though we do quite well on the ecological sustainability level, we too still have too big a carbon footprint, and use motor vehicles as much as anybody else, unfortunately. So happy to have lived my life here.

    Lovely to hear the issue was resolved. Not surprised by any of the rhetoric.
    This is very common in small towns all over the world. One can see similar themes playing out in the classic radio play Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas.
    The clash of cultures and generations is actually a central theme in much of western literature, from the Mabinogion, through Romeo and Juliet, Rebel Without a cause, On the Road, Easy Rider, and Footloose.

      Hello Helen, this film was made a long time ago, in 1989. That young man talking at the beginning of the film is me. If you look on the Tipi Valley Playlist, you will find more recent ones, mostly made by media students, way into the 21sr century. the old man rambling away there is also me. So just to let you know that Tipi Valley is alive and well, now into its 42nd year and with 3 generations of several families still living here. Basic latest info on the Valley is from the Diggers and Dreamers communities website, which is www.diggersanddreamers.org.uk/communities/existing/tipi-valley Love from Rik

    Brillent but we who are real truth era we worship no creation of man or god

    • @rikmayes
      @rikmayes  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That very much depends what you mean by "worship", which has a breadth of meanings. If I step out of my tipi and stand naked on the soft grass, and I open wide my arms to everything around me, I have what might be called a spiritual experience. I might express my appreciation by speaking, singing or dancing. You could define this behaviour as worship, or not.
