Here’s the Great Glen Canoe Trail Part Two.
We ended Part One as we got to our camp on Loch Oich the smallest of the three Loch we would face. Having had a relaxing evening it was time to pack up and head for River Oich. A river that runs parallel with the channel.
Unfortunately Ginger couldn’t make this rapid run due to his boat being very low and his two dogs so we said our goodbyes, wished him well and said we would meet him in Fort Augustus to give him a hand with the staircase of locks situated at the top of the canal which lead to Loch Ness.
Setting off down the first rapid it was clear that Rick and Jack would guide the team down each one for a safe passage through the twisting river.
Shouting commands to each one of us we felt confident and comfortable going down them.
Half way down the river we stopped for lunch and a wild swim which was so refreshing. After lunch and exploring a gorgeous woodland we headed off again to fight the rest of the way to Fort Augustus.
Reaching Fort Augustus we met back up with Ginger who explained there were three locks we had missed using the river route in to town which was welcome to hear.
After shaking our Alzheimer’s Society charity tins around Fort Augustus we had lunch from the “world famous” chippy 😄 before heading out on to Loch Ness!
With our bellies full we push across to the right side of the Loch which we would stay on for the next two days and two nights.
Hoping for good weather to complete the trip we push on to our first camping spot.
With a thin plot of beach as our home for the evening we set up our hammocks for a decent nights sleep.

Nice job Ants, the footage looked great from the back of the canoe on the river. Great film Ants, proper good feel to it and I echo what the other lads have said in there comments 'Top dad' mate and a top role model for Charlie. He did great too, you could see he was on fire, loving it. As I've said many times before, was a pleasure to accompany you lads on the trip 👍

Great stuff mate - well captured as always. Those rapids looked mental in parts, some real powerful eddies and whirlpools! Some very tranquil shots too - nice one mate.

Charlie did great on the rapids! It's mostly flat water here where I live, the rapids I think woulda been exciting and then scary at the same time. He handled them well. Scotland sure looks like a beautiful country. It as with much of the UK would be a dream trip to see. Thanks for taking me on a great tour of it.
